level ol reserves 55 approximately five to slx ¥¥eeks cash outllow to allow svifKient Worli￿ amounts in the Cufrent
accounts at St. John's. This amtyJnis to £50.Cth) to É60,C(J).
The Charl￿5 main income is from planned Iregulèrl 8i¥in¥ and a550Ciated Gift Aid tax refunds. This comes from around 130
8ivers at St John's. A sudden cessation of income is theref￿ unlikety. In ihe event ol a shortfall. the Trustees will either
seek io increase income by hold¢n8 a 8ilt day. or to reduce expendilufe by posiponing capital expenditure, reducin8 Staff
levels, withholdin8 Parish share la voluntary payrnentl or reducin6 the amouni donated io Missionary 5ocieiies la
dSKretionary paymènt). Our reserte 8ib*s adequatt timt lor thè trustèes to asse￿ any situatoon and take appfopriate
action.
As ￿ported at ihe AGM In 2022, Ihe COWD-19 pandemK had a si8nifKani Imm on the PCC'S finances. The plate income
and fet5 from luntrals & weddin¢5 dropped. the larye5t Impact was the loss ol rental intome from St John's Churth
Centre Since the end of the Covid restrictTrons as life ha5 returned to rTrofmal. plate income and fees have recovered, and
the Increase in the use land hence income) ol the Centre has increased faster than expected. The PCC'S primafy income 15
Gift Aided plannttl givi￿ this was unaffected by the pandemic and has InC￿l$ed s¥nificantly over the lasi couple of years.
In June 2024, thè minsstèr and con8rt8ation of our sister Churth - Christ Churth, Grttnbank - left thè parish and the
Church ol England. becomin8 an Independent E¥an8elKal Church uThl¢r the au5PKe5 of another An8lican organisation
AnRlican Mission in England. In 2023. ihelr income was £57.(￿ and expendItU￿ wa$ £52.(KKI 50 the financlal Impart on St
John's was mlnimal, alihou¢h we wefe ¥ery sad to see them leave Si John's.
The huge rise In enerKy cost5 since the start of 2022 ha5 Put a con5iderat>le strain on our ftnances durlnB 2024. We art
monitorin8 these costs chjsety. To reduce our e￿CtriCIty bills on the Church Centre we have installed solar panels on the
roof ol ihe Centre. which to6ether wih battery storage cawity should red￿e our elertrIC￿ bills considerabty.

The PCC had another chalkn8in8 financial year in 2024. ts￿. by God's 8rntt and through the recovery of donations and
rental income Irorn the Chur(h Centre. described in the previou5 section. we were able to meet our commitrnents to
minisiry in the parish Itncludin8 the Ministry to our Cantonese-speakin8 con8re8ation from Hon8 Kon81. support our
Mlssion Panners. and to finance the minisiry of Jon Teasdale as Associaie Vkar at Si John's ar+d pay the hovsine and
workln8 expenses of our curate James Ooo.
Voluntsry gfving at St John's. the PCC'S main source of irKome Itrwher w￿h Gift Aid tax recob*redl. showed a small
ncrease over the income In 2023. In addr¢ion. a Gift Day at St John's raised around £30,(AXJ. and because of these
addtfional donaiions, iogwher wth the Income from the Church Cent￿. the PCC was able to achieve all Its finaniial
tar8ets.
The financial impact of Christ Churth Gfeenbank ka¥in8 the Parish is m￿lm￿.
Also In 2024. received the legacy from ihe sale of Ruth Port's house t*hlch amouffled to £257,fm. Just before she died,
Ruth vtrbally told Aev. Mike Smith. that shè wouhl like around IO% of the sale protteds io bt used to pay off somt of the
loan capital on the Church Centre. The PCC lo decide on how this legw is to be allotated and the rn0￿ remalns
n the PCC'S bank account.
In addition to the large legacy. the PCC received interest free loans of E65.(DJ to be ￿paid as a lump sum after 6 years. The
loan5 are to finance the £37.(￿) cost of the 501ar panels on the Church Centre rLKJI which weve installed in the autumn of
2024. and the c¢)5t ot replactngthe barge board5 ￿ the same buikling during 2025 at a cost of £47.(LKI.

The PCC'5 undesignated and unrestricted cash balances at December 2024 were £408.97312023'. £136.6631. The total ￿$h
balances Including Deslgnated, Restricted and Endowmeni Funds amounted to £452,23612023-. £192,7441. The abnormally
hlgh cash balance was tlue to the legacy ihe unspent am￿nt of the loans (see abovel. The main areas ol PCC
expendrture are Parish Share. the payment of staff salaries, the 5UPPOrt of m15sion and reliel agencie5, the maintenance of
propertie5. plus rent and fflortgage payment5 and. ￿nce 2022. the increased energy costs ol heating and lightin8 our
buildin85. In addition. £8.IIXJ of General Funds was to pay part of the mortgage on Si John's Church Centre.
The PCC has a rth.c0ntrib￿ory p•nsion scheme which Is a Defined Benefft Scheme run by the Chuth of En8L4nd Penslon5
Board. It is autooniolmènt compllant and the pemanènt siaff wefe autoonrol￿d into this sthème in July 2016 Sn
(ompllance wl¢h the appropriate kgi5knt6on. There 15 no Ilab￿llY for ¥ defKit at Ihe moment for the Pengion Scheme.
Re8ular Érving towards the repayment of ihe loans on St John's Church Cenire contlnued to be recelved. Gifts recelved
during the year were £12.449 plus £1,853 tax Telund on Gift ￿'ded dtsnation5 made durift8 the last couple ol year5. All
congregational loans have now been repaid. leaving onty the mortgage loan with Virgin Monry Iprewou51y Yorkshire 8ankl.

members. Deanery Synod representatives and elected lay PCC members a￿ elerted by the Annual Parochial Church
Meeiing IAPCM, also referred io infom)alty ￿ AGMI and hold office three yeaf
PCC members and Deanery Synod representatives are elected Irom both churche5 in the parish. At the APCM In Aprll 2013
