On fjst Aprll 2023 Slocklon Heath and Antrobus Methodist Churches merged to form a singlè society wDrshipping on ￿ siles under the tille of Slocklon Heath Methodist Church. Achlevements and performance Stockton Heath Church activities ctrnlinued wSlh regular worshlp every Sunday momlng and a monlhty evening service that was joint wllh the Anglicans and allernaled between Sl Mary Magdalene's and our Church. The Sunday m￿nIng services were v8riBd, 8nd the pattern incorpoTaled both a monthly Holy Communion seNice and a Family Worship which also happened mot)Ihly often coinciding wllh slgnificant events in the religlous calendar. We continued to offer servi￿5 on ZOC￿ wlth up lo len people walchlng. Our church was on the rola for Circuit Live Streaming of Sunday servÈces. Sunday evening serVI￿S happened most weeks al our sister Chapel in the neighbouring village ofAntrobus. We shgred a leadership team.. members of both communities including stewards serv&d on joint comm¢tlees. Jer8my broadly lotsked after tha south sKle of the Sankey V811ey Circuil which included Stockton Heath, Anlrobus and from summer 2025. Lymm. He also had other commitments across the Circuit. He also increased his work with Ihe local primary school and this culmlnaled in inviting Year 1 children lo our Church lust before Christmas to hear the Nalwity story. Our Church was involved wllh several programs for young people,. Tol's Time for the very young, Sunday Club, and 8 young people's drama group, lo name just three. A notice in Ihe H811 listed many internal clubs and oulslde org8nization$ using the premises on a weèkly basis, from Alcoholics Anonymous to Yoga w¢lh oBca4onal bookings for one-off partieg or other events. Our ChuTch continued to participate in Bridgewater Churches Together {BCTI, 8n ecumenical council which organised vartous religious c61ebralions, such as an annual Christmas Carol Service al St Thomas ted by preachers from various BCT churches. BGT also coordinated a scheme in which minislers.and lay people preach lo another church's congregation and have a chance ID meet each other in Christian fellowship. As usual in July. Several Slocklon Heath members acted as marshals for the Churches Together Walking Day whlch involved many from around eight Churcheg In the area walking through the village with banners celebrating Christian massages. A150 in July, one of our mu¢h loved rnembers and local preachers, prèpared a magniflcent celebration setviGe of mL¢slq readings and drama, maTklng the 500th Anniversary of Willlam Tyndale's Bible11525-1535). This was the first English translation lo comè directly from Hebrew and Greek texts and the first lo be mas*produced via the printing press. Membw5 of the Slockton Heath Gongregation attended the Antrobus Harvest FestiVBI, the Book Sale and various other servic88 al Arilrobus Chapel. GO￿ fellowship and I￿￿e ware enjoyed by all, On August 3rd a Sunday aftemoon rellectlvtt MedllatKsn Walk around the village ol Anlrobus was held 85 an alternative lo standard evening worship in the Chapel. Approximately 30 people went on the walk which visited Sl Mark's Church and sever81 field8 including one wlth Inquisitive Apacas. We were thinking about the land, nalure and 8nimal$ so was very appropriate.11 was a well received act of worship and one Ihal will b8 repeated, W& engaged with several members of the publlc en-roule who thought st was a lovely idea. Several members of our Church continued to be active in another ecumenical evenl"We Are The Church. al Creamfields Festival. Daresbury. Around 70 Christians fFom about 20 local churches volunteered as pastors staffing Iwo16nls continuously for over 90 hours in August for the Annual electronic music festival which attracts over 50,000 people over the 4-days. It was a chance lo speak to a gioup of people ImDStly 1840sl who are unlikely lo come through the doors of (xjr church building but appreciated the support we gave lo them al the festival. Slocklon Heath once again hosted a prayer get-together for the volunteers. on the Sunday before the fesllval. Stockton Heath Molhoclisl Cohlinued to be a very charitable congregation, cullecting for various charitie5 in addillon to the three Circuit charities. There was a programme of monthly retiring colleclians, In arjdition lo various other fundraising events such as the successful Christmas Fair al the end of November. 10% of g1ving was allocated lo Charities. We refreshed the kllchen decoration over the last year and continued with our'lradllions, of a February Jumble Sale, Easter, Harvest and Carol Services and Carol Sinying fL>i charity. We advertised our activities in our Village News and Grapevine lo remind people of oltr presen￿. Flnanclal review There was an overall deficit of £12,500 in the year, compareLt with a surplus of £17,000 in 2023124 which had included a refund of the £20.000 donation to the Melhodisl Church Ministers Pension Fund Rèserve rnade in 2022 which the Connexion no longer needed. On our General Fund, we had a surplus In 2024125 of £4,000 after transferring £5,000 into the Repalrs Fund to cover the estimated co51$ of repairs al Anlrobus Melhodisl Church reported in a quinquennial inspection. This compares lo a surplus of £5.000 In 2023124. Our letting8 income was £3,000 higher than the prevlous year al £20,000. The cumulative General Fund bAlan￿ at 31st August 2025 was £49,500. Al the end of the year, we held £151,000 in Unreslricl&d Doslgnaled Funds of which £41,￿0 was invested through TMCP in managed equity and fixed interest funds. Of the total Unreslricled Designated Funds, £51,000 is in a Capital Reserve for redevelopment and engaging a Lay Employee, £34,000 is in the Memorial Fund £63.000 in the Repairs Fund {See Note 2 to the Accounts for the PUTpose of these funds.). A sum of £16,000 was pawj in the year from the Repairs Fund for Ihg retdacement of the Stockton Heath Church healing boiler. We plan to have a wide variety ol styles gf woishlp, led by lay and ordalned preachers and worship leaders as well as th8 church stewards. We will have fewer worship leaders and locBI preaGhers available far the forthcoming yearwhlch wlll mean an Increased need to invite guest preachor8 and have more local arranged s8rvices. One speaker booked for October is a pastor 2SSOCtaled wilh Appleton Thom prison, We wlll continue lo hold a monthly Tnid-week communlon service mainly on the last Tuesday of the month, bul this is flexible and incorporated into olh8r events in the c8lendar such gs Advent, Ash Wednesday and Maundy ThuTsday. These wlll be more refleclive alld inlimgte servlces with between 10 and 20 peO￿e 811ending. We will continue to ssjpporl a variety of charities, which will allow us to bulld up a rel8liDnship with both the charity and the causes they 5UPPOrt. We have speakers comlng lo lead worship covering some charllies including Shelter UK, the homeless chaiity. Our Sankey Valley Circuit has launched a CircLtit Purpos8 and Action Plan for the period 2D25- 2030. Thls has four elements lo il under the themes of Worshlp, Evangelism, Learning & Caring and Service. Underpinning the mi#sion priorities are prayer, responsible and sustainable financial pradice9 and a desire foi everyone's gifts lo be expressed and affirmed. We as a Church will need to bok lo the future and determine the changes necessary lo play our part In enabling the actDn plan. Our minister plans to work to strengthen our ties wlth our nearby primary school, wlth regular visits to kad school assemblies and help In rellgious education lessons. Due to positive feedback the visit of chil(iren is due to be repealed for a Nalivlty labteau in December 2025 and 8 chance to cover the Easter story in March 2026. In November 2025, wo plan lo celebrate 120 years pf our church building. This wlll include a week of five special events and sorvlces lo mark the occasion Including a history evening, a muslc evening, an exhibition and two services. The evening service is planned lo be a café style ecumenicèl seNlce on the theme of light 8nd dark. As there are some issues with contractors who are due to decorate the insSde of the Church, we will be asking for hèlp from Church members lo work actively with th& painting. Over 500 hours of volunteer Ilme is likely lo be needed along with a much smaller amount of contractor input for the ceiling lo complete the redeciwalion scheme. The painting with a fresh colour scheme Is lo be followed by inslalllng new carpets across the whole worship spaGe. Idealty the work will be completed in lime for the Bpecial Celebration 120 evenlg. The refurbishment includes an upgrade of our audIo￿VISUal equiprnent and IT resources. These will anable ijs lo Improve the qu81ity of our live-streamed services as well as improve the worship expeiience for IhDS& attending in person. Antrobus We aim tD continue to be an active Christian presettce in our community, with member8 of Dur congregation involved In the Governing of the Village School, Shop and Tea Room, the Womens Inslilule, the Frlendship Club and actively supporting events al the Communlly Village Hall. All of these activi1188 will glve u5 the opportunity for quiet mlssion and lo be able lo offer SUPPDrt lo Dur village friends. We aim lo re¢ntroduce the flower giving so that we will be able to reach out to those in need of some comfort and cheer. We will be celebrallng 90 years of the current chapel building in 2026 and plan to have some social and musical events and religious servi￿8 over the year. We plan lo invite people with previous links lo the chapel through Sunday School, Christenings, Weddings and Fun6r818. Many of our past and PTesenl friends and neighbours already have fond memories, and we hope lo create more. Page 5
