The PCC meets bi-monthly with a Lay Chair, Secretary, Wardens and Treasurer supporting the Incumbent.

- There is also a Standing Committee comprising of Incumbent, Lay Chair,

The primary objective of the PCC is to promote the Christian faith throughout the Parish, and to provide spiritual guidance and pastoral support to parishioners.

St Peter’s mission is:

The strapline” Seeking to live out the love of God in all we do” underpins this mission statement.

In fulfilment of this mission a range of activities occur regularly and throughout the year. 

For people exploring faith, a series of relaxed and informal courses are held looking at questions such as Who is Jesus? What is the Christian Faith? How can we know God? Why is the world like it is? 

For people looking to worship God there is a diverse range of worship services at St Peters and St John’s: 

- Formal Said Holy Communion 

- Cathedral Style Evensong 

- Contemporary Sunday Worship, including Holy Communion 

- Family Worship 

- Morning Worship and Holy Communion 

- Breakfast Church/Young Church/Wild Church 

- Celtic Evening Prayer 

- Midweek Worship and Holy Communion 

- Home Communion is also available if needed. 

A Social Justice Hub is an integral part of how the mission is fulfilled.

St Peter’s also encourages its members to become involved in a range of activities that fulfil its mission and deepen interaction with the community. Examples of such activities are: 

- Food Pantry Volunteering 

- Coffee Shop

Section D                      Achievements and performance 

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

The PCC can record achievements across the full range of its mission priorities: 

- In line with National trends, we have seen increased numbers of younger adults attending Sunday services and showing an interest in spiritual matters. 

- Sunday services now occur on a weekly, rather than fortnightly basis at St Johns 

- A range of short courses occurred throughout the year on Monday evenings, exploring different aspects of the Christian faith 

- Some additional building works were completed at St John’s following the major refurbishment in 2024. 

- At St Peter’s, LED lighting was installed and achieved a significant improvement on the previous lighting regime. 

- The Norman Chapel was brought back into use for worship, following successful repairs to the Hearse House. 

- One parishioner championed a Candle Challenge, upcycling used church candles for sale, to benefit local charities. This now has National recognition as a major C of E opportunity. 

- St John’s coffee shop continues to thrive as a community focussed event. 

- Following promotional activity in the Community, wedding enquiries and numbers have doubled for 2026. 

- The PCC continues to be involved in community activities, such as street fairs, litter picking and carol singing. 

- Our activities for Christian Aid week again drew enthusiastic participation as did the schedule of events celebrating Creation in the Autumn. 

For the past 15 years, the PCC has worked with the Church of the Resurrection on the neighbouring Upton estate supporting worship and outreach activity. During this period a notable achievement was the setting up a food pantry around 5 years ago and from a small start now serves around 100 households each week. The relationship with Upton formally ceased in August, and was marked with a joint service of celebration ahead of Upton becoming part of the wider Macclesfield initiative. 

The PCC continues its support of a local, a national and an international charity each year through its charitable giving.

The PCC’s principal source of funding is through parishioner donations, supplemented by fees arising from weddings and funerals, investment income and income from room hire. 

The PCC holds a considerable sum of unrestricted reserves which is cautiously invested in a low risk Church of England fund operated by CCLA Investment Company. Funds are invested in low risk bank and building society deposits and Government backed securities. 

The PCC has full governance and oversight of any funds received as a bequest or legacy.

We report on the accounts for the year ended 31** December 2025. 

## Respective responsibility of the PCC and the examiner 

The PCC is responsible for the preparation of the accounts. They consider that an audit is not required for the year (under section 455(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the Act) and that an independent examination is needed. 

## Itis our responsibility to 

- e Examine the accounts (under Section 145 of the 2011 Act); e Follow the procedures laid down in the general directions given by the Charity commission (under Section 145 (5)(b) of the 2011 act and 

- e state whether particular matters have come to our attention. 

## Basis of independent examiner’s report 

Our examination was carried out in accordance with the general direction given by the charities commission. An Examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. 

It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanation from you concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a “true and fair view” and the report is limited to those matters set out in statement below. 

## Independent Examiners statement 

In the course of our examination, no matter has come to our attention. 

1. Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and To prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 act have not been met: or 

2. To which in our opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
