Church of St Mary Magdalene and the Churches of St Peterfs. Ashley and St John the Baptist, Bashley. The

The Parochial Church Council (PCC) operates under the PCC (P¢ydErs) Measure (1956) and is a charty reglstered
with the Charity Commission, Charity Number 1134112.

Structure, Governance and Management
The mptho¢ of appginting the PCC members is set out in tho ¢hur¢h Representstion Rubg. All Chur¢h attendees
are encouraged to register on the Electoral Roll and to stand for election to the PCC. All Councils and positions
held within the Parish of Milton are constituted andlor undertaken with due regard to the specific Ternis of
Reference set out in the Parish File, a copy of which can be obtained from the Secretary. The Parish of Milton is
extremely grateful to all its volunteers without whom the Churches would not be able to operate.
Obje¢tiv8s and Activitles
During the vacancy the Churchwardens and the PCC of Milton Parish have taken on the role of promoting in the
Parish the whole mission of the Church, pastoral, evangelical, social and ecumenrcal. This upholds the vision as
expressed in the logo Serving - Worshipping - Belonging - Growing. It also has the oversight of the activities of
the Church committees to whom responsibilty has been devolved.

Church attendanc•
At the 31st December 2024 there are a total of 126 parishioners on the Church Electordl Roll, of whom 6 are not
resident within the Parish: 2 names were removed as eÈther now deceased or moved away from the Parish and
there have been 2 additi'ons. The average weekty atterxlance, counted during October, 74 adults and O Children.

Revlew of the Year
The full PCC met 6 times in 2024 with an average attendance 95QA. Reports from St Mary Magdalene's, St
P¢ter's and St John the Bapti¥t Chyrthes were rKeive¢ by the fvll PCC and discussed whoro n¢￿SSary.
Worship in all three Churches has continued without any of the restrith'ons. Lay assistants have resumed
administering the wine for communion.
Parish Lent lunches have taken place and were well attended.
Teams of trained lay people have not resumed. Baptisms are taking place on an individual basis. Ministy
of Welcome and Pastoral Care continues.
Monday Group continues to meet on the 2nd MorKlay of each month at 2.30pm.
Pop-in Coffee mornings held on the last Thursday of each month conts'nue to flourish with very good
attendances of local residents and members of the congregations.
Messy Church in thp Ponsh ¢hur¢h continues, Th.e Lady Chapel provide$ and activity opportun.ities
for children and they all enjoy a meal together in the Church Hall. Messy Church has a Facebook page

The Parish Off￿ is open on Monday - Friday from 10 - 12noon. staffed by volunteers from across the
Parish; but more helpers are required.
The Parish Website is well accessed and is a valuable source of infonnation; the address is
www.mittonpaTish.org. All forthcoming events a￿ listed.
A Fund Raising Group has organised several events during the year to contribute to the cost of extensive
repairs to all three Churches.
Communty Services including CNIC, School and Memorial have taken place.

Total receipts on ordinary unrestricted funds We￿ £186.643 as a￿ detsiled in the Financial Statement
The cost of providing the Christian Ministy from the Parish of Milton, including the contribution to the
Di0￿san Parish Share was £144,129..
The Parish continues to rely on Legacy irKome to cover costs. This is a cause of great concern and is
key focus for thought, prayer and practical inrtiatives for 2025.
Inve8tment Pollcy
The PCC has chosen a balanced ethical approach with only medium risk. the PCC has no investment at
this time.
Roserves Pollcy
The PCC would like to work towards a situation where funds could be set aside to cover at least three
months ongoing general expenditure of the Parish and provide a fund for immediate use in the event of
Pari$hllo¢oVnationoifintemational disaster.
Risks Pollcy
The PCC ea.mp.rked. £30.000 legaw gifts in 2014 for major repair works to the pa.r.ish GhurGh, This ha$
been spent on repointing work as a first step to correct water ingress to the parish church walls. £100,000
of legacy income received in 2024 has been similarly ea￿narked to continue the renovation work.

As trustees of the Charity, Ihe members of the PCC are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. They
consider that an audit is not reouired for this year L5nder section 144{2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act)
and that an independent examination is needed.
It is our responsibility to
examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act-
follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners section
145(5llbl of the 2011 Act- and
state whether particular matters have come to our attention.
Basis of Inde
endent Examiner's Statement
Our examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission.
An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the
accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the
accounts and seeking explanations from the management committee concerning any such mallers. The
procedures undertaken do not provide all Ihe evidence that would be required in a full audit. and consequently
we do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.

In connection with our examination, no matters have come to our attention-
which give us reasonable cause to believe that in any malerial respect the requirements
to keep accounting records in accordance with s.130 of the 2011 Act. or
to prepare accounts which accord with these accounting records have not been met,. or
to which. in our opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the
accounts to be reached.

Regarding the financial aspects of the yearthese are presented in a fomiat requtred
under Church Accounting Regulatlons 2006 and the Charities Act 2011. The Pa￿sh ol
Milton Istreated as one entty although sepatatefigures for each Church within the
Parlsh are malntalned.
General fund Income in the year 2024 was £186,643 cornpared with £107.481 In 2023. Gfft aided
contrlbutlons were £40.461 in 2023 but £41.711 In 2024while collectlons at Setvlces were
£1,600 more In 2024 than In 2023. Thls means that between the two our congregation
Income dropped by about £2.1)00 togetherwlth the approprlate gift ald.
Total Income has been gTeatly enhanced by a wonderful legacy of £161K fofthe parlsh
church. EIODK has been earmarked forthe renovatlons needed In the parish church.
Income from hall and other lettlngs show an Increase In 2024 malnly due to the regular rental
Irom the lettlng ot St John's hall.
Our CMF to the Dlocese was pald In full a￿1n In 2024. £58822 {2023 £62513).. The PCC conslder5
thls a prlorlty. The amount, lower than In 2023 and pr￿louS years. covers
Clergy and other related costs In the Wlnchester Dlocese.
Durtng the Interregnum theie are no Incldentsl costs forclergy. The Dlocese coverthose
for keeplng Clergy available on Sundays.
Church malntenance expenses vary from yearto year accordlng to need.
There are few savings to be made In the costs of runnlng the Churches. Our Congregations
expectthe Churches to be heated and Ut adequatelyfor Services.
At the end of 2023 we asked everyone to review thelr givln& The response was very helpful.

The marvellous legacy Income In 2024 Is not the end of the linanclal mountsln we have
