The charity meets its objectives entirely through giving grants to Penhurst Parochial Church Council. Applications for grants are considered by all the Trustees and decisions are made (taking into account any conflicts of interest) which are then communicated via the Secretary to the PCC. Grants are usually confined to works of essential repairs to the fabric of Penhurst Church and the maintenance of the churchyard. Reserves of at least the current total level, maintained in real terms, are necessary to ensure that the work of the Trust could continue even if there were a drop in the variable levels of income. ## **Details of any funds materially in deficit** ## **Further financial review details (Optional information)** You **may choose** to include additional information, where relevant about: - the charity’s principal sources of funds (including any fundraising); - how expenditure has supported the key objectives of the charity; The principle fund raising activity is the management of the property owned by the Trust together with sound and close monitoring of investment in the stock market. The Trustees manage the investment portfolio with a policy of preserving its real value and aiming to increase the value of these investments whilst accepting a lower level of income. This is achieved by mainly investing in the CCLA COIF Charities Investment -Accumulation Fund.
