The rnorning highlight£d St Ann's Strengths, W8aknes*s, Opportunities & Threats. A questionnaire in 2024 will help
see howwe move foward. The SWOT analysi5 bs summarised below.
Strengths.
We are blessed to have 8 well-maintained churth buikling and communty centre in tha hub of Rainhill, opposite our
chuich-linked primary school. A quinouernn￿l inspection is due in 2024. We have a strorKJ team of dergy, curate arvJ
retiffjd rnini5ters and Lay volunteerswho give their ts.me generously to the ministy ol StAnn's.
Our paS￿rat (2re and comrnon faith in our Lord and stthour Jésus Christ were lisied a$ sirengths. We have a gocAd
rnessage to shar9.
We are a dNerse community Made up 0111 different and overlapping worshipping congregats"ons. A strength Is that we
can hold a cornmLJnity of differont ages and tiadiiions within the ministry here. Congr8gation$ meet on Sunday morrung
al 8."30am following the Book of Cornmon Prayer arKI then at 10..30am following Common Worship IPlatforn 11 while
Platforn 2 meets al the same lime in St Anns Millennium Gent￿. Stanley Bear Club meets on a Monday in church for
under 55 with their pArentslcarers. Then on tr8 1st Sunday of the month we gather together for our All Together for
W0￿￿1P Service. TtEra is a midweek Servi￿ on Thursdays at 9".30am. Cornmunion ￿ taken wt to people at hom8 and

thèlr rnanagement.
Our finanw detailed in this report show that we are a ger￿rouS congregats.on bui w8 nè&J to grow giving from naw
members.
Weakn8S$gS
Our volunteers are now older than they Wa￿ and we need to grow new voluntsers to Share the k)ad. A significant
amount of ministry is h81d by a relatNdy small proFK)rtDn ol our congregation. WÈ need to develop and widen o
sh￿d minislri8s. We are missing tso significant generations teenagers and young retireds this is a challenge bjt there
are signs that it is Changing. Vvhile we are gènerous. we néed to grow new givers. We are generous bul sometimes
focu5 too much on fijndraising. Our prayèr life togeiher was also li5tad as a weakness. We way at horn8 and IhroLEh

Opportunities
Our diverse congregations have potential lo reach a wide variety of people. W6 have great links with schools in the area
particularly St Ann's Prirnary bul also several other primary schools and Ralnhill High School and Tower College. Links
have been reestabllshed with Oakdene Primary School in 2023. We have good links with other denomin8tions in Rainhill.
Pastoral serVI￿S and memorial s$Nices also provlde great opportunities for outreach. The cornrnunily choir has
Slrenglhened the singing in our own congregation it has encouraged those from other churches bul 8150 drawn in new
faces. Beyond our walls there a￿ many opportunities in our community. We can bring people in to $ervice8 bul are going
out lo where people are?
Threats
Covid has left many in our congregation feeling significantly older and fraSler. whble a new generation leads busy live5
and don't create space for God. Our diversity can lead to ten5ion5 bul Sl Anns has shown a courage to think e￿al￿elY
and try new things. Our costs are rising. Fewer people are doing more things and are feeling tired.
We have much to Celebrate as detailed in this report, many opportunities in our comrnunity but we should not ignore the
ch8llenges. We have faith in a risen Lord who will continue lo walk with us every step of the way. "Frx your eyes on
Jesus the author and Perfector of Our Faith" Hebrews 12.2.
IEvents and Hlghlights of the Year
Across the year several discipleship groups and study groups have met. A wornen's growth group led by Jean Pearson

happy environment. Through Stanley Bear Club, we help Christian families share faith with their children through Bible
stones, prayer and songs. We also Sha￿ the Christian faith with many for the first time who come through our doors. Thè

Our ecvmenical links ¢onlinue to remain a valued part of our community, St Anns h05ted during Lent 2023 with clergy

due lo our wonderful baptism team. Funeral ministry in our Parish ChuTch continues to be busy but has been particularly
difficult as we have lost several members of our ¢hur¢h ￿MMunity over the last year. All of this takès good

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Reserves policy
The ParLthial Church Council has a pjlity of maintsining reserve5 for emergenaes which May anse, the income frorn
such reserves being available for usè in gèneral fijnds. The PCC alsQ Strives to maintain at least three months normal
eXFenditur8 a5 an ongoing reserve in the general account. The PCC and Finan￿ Cornmittees monitor these funds. A
Fabric of £130 (named the Heritage Fund) is at present and a g?rtsrdl ￿SerVe fvnd (Deposit Fund) stands at
£84,785.
In the present financlal clirnate én(x)utaging regular giving fr(m 8 new generation wll be tha]￿ngIng, however adopting
electfonic gmw and the introduction ol the Parish Giving Scheme has helped to move this forward. Direct giving by
rnembers of the church still accounts lor the majority of our incomg, and the income tax recovered through Gift Atd
during the year has made a sBJnifi¢ant difference.
A draft budget for 2024 has been submitted but control of finall￿S wll wquire prudent financial management and
increased giving, An e¥p8nsion of CLJmmitted giving 15 being pursued by the PCC, as are other option5 utilising modern
