The Confirniaiion itself was conducted by Bishop Rob Gillion. and followed by a party in Ihe Vicarage Garden. CCTV caprured a man deliberately setting fire io the Aliar fronial in th¢ Lady Chapel "hICh bumi the frontal and the Altar iiself. Thankfully. the fire w'as pui oui bj some parishioners passing b), who used the fire- extinguishers and called the Fire Service. This swift afflion meani the fir¢ was coniained and has caused little serious damage that cannot be repaired. On ihe oiher hand. it wa5 ¢ncouraging io see how much people valued the opennes5 of the church, and sirengihened every'one's desir¢ thai li should remain 50. The Church of England has seen a revival of children s choirs in recent years. and Ihey are widel>. recognised for iheir missionol impaci, bringing noi only ihe children, but also families and friends into Ihe life of ihe Church. Letting5 income is remaining strong and all our propcrties from 41 Elm Bank Garden5 to our Flai in Lexham Gardens and the Church Hall and Community Centre remain popular.
