Mlsslon Statement.. Seeking to be a faithful, welcoming and carlng Christlan
presence celebrating all that is of good and God in our community.
Our values.. In all our deallngs we seek to be faithful, Inclusive, compasslonate,
nuturing and joyfvl.
Governance: The work of the Anglican Church in the parish of Gainsborough and
Morton is supervlsed by the Team Parochial Church Council (PCC) and three
individual District Church Councils {DCC), one for each church In the parlsh All
Saints, Church, St. George's Church and St. Paul's Church in Morton.
The PCC meets five times each year and reports from all three churches are glven at
these meetings. Each DCC also meets a minimum of five times a year.
However, during 2020 and the Covld pandemic, meetings were held via Zoom or a
mixture of in-person plus Zoom, as restrictions permitted. As guidance and
requirements changed throughout the pandemic, the PCC and DCC'S met as
necessary to continue the work of the Team Parish.
Staffing. In 2020 the Team Parish was senied by a Priest In Charge. The Parish has
a Lay Reader and a Lay Minlstry Tearn.
Prayer and Worship. Quality prayer and worship, which offers up to God and
celebrates life here in Gainsborough, Is a top priority.
Due to the pandemic and enforced closures of church buildings, prayer and worshlp
"went digitsl" Initially, this was by the Priest in Charge recording services which
were then streamed via social media (Facebook) at a set time. We also made use of
Church of England resources, such as the services streamed by the Archbishop of
Canterburyi and worship / faith programmes transmitted by television channels.
As the pandemic continued and we became more proficient in the use of social media
and digital outlets such as Zoom, the pre-recorded services began to include
contributlons from members of the congregation (such as readings and
intercessions), plus the inclusion of music.
The church re-opened for worship in July 2020 wlth protocols in place to maintaln
safety for all who came into the bullding
in line with government and diocese
guidelines. The services were Zoomed out live for our members who were unable to
attend. The churches were also opened On￿ a week for private prayer and these
sessions were staffed by volunteers to ensure safety.
With fvrther restrictions on worshlp In September 2020, our services went back to
being Zoomed out only but as we were allowed to offer the worship live-streamed
from the church buildlng, a small team was put together to facllitate this - sound and
vlsion technicians plus the Celebrant and worship leader.
Pastoral Care: Because of the pandemic, pastoral care took on a whole new
dimension. Weddlngs and baptisms ceased and m05t funerals were undertaken by
the newly-opened crematorium as it offered live-streaming of the funeral services.

Members of the Lay Ministry Team each had a list of church members to contstt each
week, to check that members were coping wlth the self-isolatlon or shleldlng and
practlcal assistance was offered were necessary.
It became apparent that many were missing the social aspect of church and so a
Coffee Zoom sesslon was held on Sundays after the moming service had been
broadcast. Additional events such as Zoom quizzes also proved popular.
Chrlstian Education and Study: We encourage regular Blble Study throughout the
year, with occasional additional study courses, for example, at Lent and Advent.
With all in-person meetings and clubs banned, blble study courses went online.
An Advent Calendar Window Trail (telling the story of Advent through to Christmas
Day) proved popular with both those who made the wlndow displays and the people
who entered the competition. Again, this was an attivlty that took place "real-world"
and virtually and engaged a high number of people locally and further afield.
Communlty Llnks: We continue to work closely with schools and care homes in the
parish and with Gainsborough Town Council and West Lindsey District Councll. We
maintain connettions with many smaller voluntary and charitable organisations that,
like us, seek to add value and improve the quality of life of people in our area. Our
annual Community Carol Service is a highlight and generally involves people for
many of these smaller organisations.
Again, much of this went virtual in 2020. Both the Town Council and District Council
were supportive during the year. With schools being closed for extended periods of
tlme, and care homes belng off-limits, engagement with these communlties was
difficult.
Feeding Gainsborough now use All Saints, (Parish) Church on Saturday mornings to
distrlbute excess food to those in need and to prevent it going to waste as landfill.
Buildings: The three churches are a much loved and valuable communlty resource
and are kept well maintained. The church hall at St. Georye's is utilised by all three
churches and their members on occasion.
Looking to the future: Rev. Steve Johnson is clearly committed to involving all
church members in planning the future development of our Team Parish. His initial
session (February 2020) to get members of all three church communities together to
start to plan a way forward was well attended and very constructive. However, we
were unable to build on that straight away due to the lockdown comlng into effect in
March 2020. It was heartening that so many church members stepped up when
volunteers were needed to react to the ever-changing situatlon during the pandemic.
