Worshrp and Prayer
Each church m3intains a regular Sunday pattern, wilh the Sung Eucharist at its heart. Feast days are observed with a Choral Eucharist
sun8 by the choir at the Minster when they fall on a Tuesday or Wednesday. The Eucharist is offered at the Minster on Mondays,
Tuesdays, Wednesday and Fridays, and ai st George's on Th￿r$daYS. In this way a weekday Euchart5t is offered in the parish Monday-
Frid2y. Morning Prayer is said daily in the Minster. Choral Evensong is sung at the Minster on Sunday5, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in
Term time.
The Liturgy in the parish reflects the Catholic pro￿s1on at the majorfe5tivals including Holy Week drawing on the riches of the liturgical
tradition. Devotions such as the Ststions of the Cross remain popular. Others a￿ exploring methods of prayers such as the Rosary.
During Lent. Compline and Benedicknon Wds celebrated weekly. We have continued with Lent and Advent daily readin8s provided by
members ofthe conEre8ationèl comrnunity and posted online.
All are welcome to attend our regular seNces and ale encourdged to join the Electoral Roll. Following renewal of the Electoral Roll in
2025 this stood at 168 in May 20251200 in 20241. The Minster and St George's are open throughout the week. Average weekly
attendance at the Minister in October 2025 was about 110 Adults (about 110 in October 20241 and about 50 Children13bout 45 in
Ortober 20241.
As well as our regular services, we enable ourcornmunityto celebrate and offerthanks toGod at the mile￿one5 of the journeythrough
life, includinE about 10 baptisrns anij 2 funera15 in 2025 (about 20 baptisms and 10 funerals tn 20241.
Choral rNu5ic is a significant featu￿ of the Minster's worship. with Boys. Gir15 and Adult Choirs and the Minster choral foundation
continued to enrich worship and parish life. Maintaining and developing the Opus Dei is the core of this work. and throughout the year
the Choi￿ added more seasonally appropriate liturgical music. and music by Under￿preSented composers. to enrich worship. As well
asthe regular services throughout theyear. the well-attended-carol" servi￿5 durin8 Advent. Chri5trna5. Epiphany, and Lent Continued
to be important highli8hts, as were a performance of Brahms'5 Ein Deutsches Requiem in November 2025. and the Christma5 Cheer
Concert bythe Choirand thecroydon Citadel Band ofthe Salwation Army. In astron8 endorsementofthe ethos, excellence and national
profile olthe music, we were awarded a generous £15,(NJO gr4nt from the Cathedrnl MusicTru5t in 2025 to 5UPPOrt the vitsl work of
our four professional section leader5 overthe next two year5.
We 31s0 provide many and regular opportunities for local organisations, wtth whorn we havevery close links, to worship at the Minster.
These tncludÈ service5 for our own Minster Infant and Junior Schools and the annual Founder5 Day Serwces for the Schools and Elder
Care organi￿￿On$ of the Whitgift Foundation and Elis David Almshouses. In it5 capacity as the Civic Church, the Minster a150 hosted
the Civic Act of Rernembrance in November, and for the first time frjr a number of years a Seryice to mark the beginning of the new
Mayoral Year.
Each year members of the Cong￿gation attending the APCM ￿ceIve an annual report book detailing the aciivities of the PCC and
variou5 organisations in the life of the parish. We have developed our online presence to make Parish life more accessible to those
who cannot reach us in person. We continue Lectio Divina weekly OH Zoom. The pertodic Parish of Croydon Review 15 published online
via our respective websites as well as in hard-copy format, maintaining our websites to share irrformation. events and articles- and
posting regulartyon Facebook, Instagram and Twitterlx.
MinistryTrCatechesis and Mission
As one Parish wth two churches the PCC considers three to be the optimum number of clergy serving the ministry and mission here.
The COnfigu￿tion of clergy 3ppro¥ed by the PCC 15 for the Wjcar of the parish. and two asgxiate priests, both known as ￿SocIate
Vicars. Until taking up the post of Wicar of Lewisham in September 2025. The Re¢d David Adamson-Hill had primary responsibility for
the ministry ot St George's Church and also served the wider parish through the Minster during the week. This Associate Vicar post
was unfilled for the remainder of 2025. but subjett to completion of the ne￿Sary procedure5 the appointment of the Rev'd Amy
Sykes. presently Assistsnt Curate of St Michael's, filehur5t. in the Diocese of Oxford. as Associate Vicar of St George's was announced
on Sunday 1st March 2026. In August 202S the Rev'd Michael Walcott took up the new post of Associate Vitsr and Chaplain in the
Whitgift Foundation. providing ministerial support at the Minster and supporting the Vicar in discharging the role of Chaplain to the
Whiigift Foundation. This is a'Sponso￿d post. and the sponsor is thejohn Whitgift Foundation. Fr Michael has Permission to Officiale
IPTOI whilst awaiting hi5 Licence from the Bishop. The appointment of the Vicar. Re¢d And￿W Bishop. as Priest in Charge of the

W8lsingham. Houghlon and Barsham benefice and Hempton with Pudding Norton in the Diocese of Norwith was anThounced on
Sunday 22 March 2026. The Parish will therefore be entering into a vacancy later in the year.
The Parfsh seeksto provide support to the homeless in Croydon. During 2025 it continued to support thework of Croydon Nightwatch.
The PCCa150 considered the scope to refurbish the large hall to support the Croydon Together NiEht Shelter run by Croydon Voluntary
Acrion in future years.
St George's continues its work serving the Waddon cornmunity. including a weekly lunch dvb and hosting a pa￿nt and toddler group.
A strong relationship with Aerodrome School is maintained. At the Minster a successfijl reEular programme of acrivities for children
and young people around feasts of the Church has been developed, led bY￿1£e Bishop, and in the summer has continued collaboration
with our neighbour5 at St Michael's Croydon and St Alban's South Norwood. The parish runs the 'QoydoThSin8s.' project developin8
ehoral Thusit in local schools with funding from the PCC. St Edmund's Charity. and the Cathedral Music TrusL
Catechesis continue5 to be offered. In Lent St George's runs a Lent course forthe whole parish arnd at the Minster sessions of 'Bitesize
Cateche515' ersable learning and reflection on different topics of Christian life. faith and prathce. In 2025 the 1700 anniversary of the
Council of Nicaea was a particular focus. Wjthin the parish we run annual cour5e5 of confitmation preparation with severdl candidates.

The Minsrerfs significant heritsge enzbles part of the mission of the parish by attractiftg a range of wsitors. The clergy and Minster
Education Officer, David Morgan h05t visits from Schools and other groups. Reflertin8 the historic significance of the Minster and its
place in the history of Croydon. we are incrementslly building a detailed description of the Minister alurch and its history on our
web51te and engage in the annual national open house weekend in September.
The Friday Lunchtirne Recitals have been running since 2017 and are now a featu￿ of the Minster's outieach to the wider community.
attracting regular attendees who are largely separate Irom Sunday wor5hipper5. The iecitals run duringterm time and are curated and
staffed entirely by volunteers. The performers represent a range of styles- from Jazz and Musiol Theatre to the more vsual choice of
classical repertoire- and most are students from l(tsl schools and Londowt conservatoires. As the reputation of the recitals has grown.
it has also attracted emer8in8 professionals and more experienced musicians. All recitalist5 offer their talents free of charge, apart
from travel expenses, $0 that ary money raised eoes to church funds.
PCC review of the year
Governance
During 2025 the PCC met four times. the Minster DCC met fourtfjmes. and the St George'5 DCC met six times. Major issues addressed

The PCC has complied with its duty to have'due regard, to the House of Bishops, guidance in relation to safeguardin8. It considered
SafeguardinE at its meetinES in February. June and October 2025. includingconclusions from the self-audit. review and approval of the
Parish Safe8uardin8 Policy and Policy on DomesticAbu5e. and the introduciion of new arrdngementsfor 2026 including approvingthe
appointment of new Parish 5afe8uèrding Officers at its rneeting in February 2026.
Parish Su
ort Fund
In 2025 the Minster supported the Diocese with E89.3LKI1£83.5CO in 20241 and St George's with £12.8501£12.4CM) in 20241. Both
churches ag￿ed to further increase their pledges for 2026 to £94.4C¥J (Minsterl and £13.492.50 (St George's).
Land
There was continuing di5CU55ion about the Minster Hall and how it can be made fit for purpose. At its meeting on 201h ortober 2025
the PCC endorsed the ￿coMMendatiOn by the Minister DCC to focus on refurbishing the small hall. committee room and kitchen to
bring them back into regular use. and to repair and rnaintain the roofs and guttering. The PCC also considered Croydon Council's
rescoped plans to enhance the environ5 of the Minster and install an architectural lighting sysiem for the Minster, culminating in
approval in March 2026 of the licence for the Council to begin works. The PCC also decided to dispose of the property inclyded within
Marknn How's estate.

On his death in 2023 our much beloved fn.end and OrBanist Laureate. MaTtin How. bequeathed his entire estate of around £1 million
to the PCC. He did not specify how it was to be used. and so the funds are unrestricted. This plate5 a considerable responsibility on
the PCC make good use of his 8enerous legacy. It has been agreed that a balance5hould be struck between spending on project needs
within the Parish and making the capital work so that it has 3 la￿ing effert. So far thi5 legacy has enabled the commi$5ioning of a
memorial plaque to Martin How in the mIn￿er. commr(ment to a multi-year project to complete restoration of the historic organ i
the Minster. commitment of work to improve the MiTrsteT Hall ènd bring it back rnto Use. upgrading the Sound sy5tem5 in St George's
in 2025, and work to upgrade the sound system in the Minster. completed by 27 March 2026.
FINANCIAL REWEW
The charity feports incoming resouices of £313.901 in 202512024- £1.099.9761 total charitable expenditure of £372.10212024-
£391.0721. a net Inve5trnent valuation10ss of £3.92212024-gain of £2,187) and therefore a total deficit for the year of £62,12312024
surplus of E711,0911. The si8nifi.cant decrease in Incorning resources land the overall deficit for the yearl reflects the receipt of a
legacy payment during 2024 of £778.949 which was left to the charity. At the year-end date. the chartty reports total funds tsf

The Parish continued to work with the charrty Seportsted Childduring 2025 to prowde and pack welcome kits forchild rnigrant5 cominB
to the UK alone. Members of the Minster, St George's and wider community. have joined on two occasions in the pack¥ng and a lunch.
INVESTMENT POLICY
The PCC5 long-term endowments are invested in Unit HoldtnEs managed byihe Church of England Central Board of Finance IC8FI and
the Charities Offcial Investment F￿nd ICOIFI. Other funds ale held on short-temi deposit, also through the CBF, Èn anticipation of their
likely short to medium term utilisation. The PCC also hold an investment in a 95 day access account.
RESERVES POLICY
The balance sheet components of funds are reported in the notes to the Finanual Statements. The PCC views a level of between 3-
6 months unrestricted expenditure as a desirable range for the free reserve. The PCC measures -f￿e reserves~ for the Parish as a
whole, as comprisinE total Un￿strICted funds of £1.030.55712024 - £1.101.2711 less tangible fixed asset5 employed for charity use
of £21.27212024- £25.9431. therefore amounting to £l.(XJ9.28512024- £1,075,328). This represents reserves of approximately 38
months. unrestricted expenditure12024- 38 months).
RISK ASSESSMENT AND ÉXPOSURÉS
Health and Safe
The 2022 quinquennial inspection of the Minster buildTngs confiTmed that the prerni5es are Safe structuralty and there are no matters
which will p￿vent their continued use for the foreseeable future. The church hall is structurally sound but there are issue5 around
heatin8 and maintenance whrch require CO￿lY inve5trnent. so the PCC has limited its use. pending refurbi5hrnent work. The St George's
quinquennial inspection took place in July 2023. 155ues of concern included replzcement of high-level dorrner windows, and
maintenance of the bellcote.
Both the Minsterand St George's have Health and Safety. Fire Safety. Church Risk Assessment and Personal Safety Plan5 and Policies in
place with progress againsl acknoll5 in these documents monttored and reported on regularly to the PCC. Fire prevention and
evacuation procedu¥es are in place with training sessionsfor key personnel held at regular intervals.

The interior of the Minster chuTch is rnonitored by a sophisticated camera system installed in 2001.. and updates now include the lower
roofs Ito protettaEainst theft of roofing lead) and the Choir Vestry. The Pccwill be wn5idering proposals to update this system during
2026. Locks to all church doors are accesseil wa high Security keys. Afi metsl has been marked with Smartwater Iselecta DNA). The
Personal Safety Plan identified further security risks for which mitrgating action has been tsken.
Protection of childien and vulnerable adtjlts
The Parish has a safeguarding policy to ensure the safety and well-being of young people and Vulne￿ble adults. Throughout 2025 a
Parish Safeguardin8 offi.cer. asslsted by a PSO at st George'5. ensured the policy is implemented and liaises dirÈ£tly with the Diocesan
Saleguarding Advisor. Any person working with young people in either church is required to complete a declaration form. and to
undergo disclosure and barring checks. All PCC member5 3re required to underEO online training through the Chts￿h of England's
National Safeguarding Team. arbd the PCC and two DCC5 regularly review safeguarding at their meetings. A Safeguarding Audit was
condutted. The PCC reviewed the conclusions at its meeting on 24th February 2025 and agreed its recommendations. which are now
being implemented, and it was submitted to the Di0￿e in March 2025

The PCC is a public benefit entity wtth the meaning of FRSIO2.
The finènci215tatements are prepared under The Church Accounting Regulations 2￿6 and The Charities Act 2011. These
incorporate the requirements of The Charitie5' Statement of Recommended Practice ISORP FRS1021.
The financial statements have been prepared in order to gNe a -true and fair wew. and has Involved following Statement of
Recommended Practice ISORP FRS1021.
The financial statements are prepared on the accruals basis and under the historical accounting convention except that fixed
35set investmefits are reported at market value.
The financial statements are prepared in pwnd sterlin& which 15 the funct¢onal currency of the charlty. Monetary amounts
in thesefinancial statements are rounded to the nearest £.
The financial staternents include all transactions. assets and liabilthe5 for which the PCC is responsible in law. They do not
include the financial statements of church groups that owe their affiliation to another body, nor those which are informal
8atherings of church members.
Going concern
At the time of aPPfovfjn8 the financial statements the PCC has a reasonable expectation that the church ha5 adequate
resource5 to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Accordingly the going concern basis of actounting
15 applied the preparation of the financial statements.
The principal accounting polioes adopted in the preparation of the financial ststements are as follow5.'

The financi31 statements aggregate the financial actNttie5 and balance sheet of Croydon Minster with those of the daughter
church of St George's Waddon.

Grants and legacies are accounted for when the PCC is entitled to the use of the resourw, their ultimate receipt is probable
and the amounts due are reliably quantifiable.

Dividends are accounted for when received. Interest eniitlements are accounted forwhen received.
Gains and losses on Investments
Realised gains and lossès are recognised when investments are sold.
