and 20th Jun8 2016. It was renamed to CDI Apps for Good on 24th September 2012 and then renamed Apps for
Good on 21 st Septemb8r 2016.

We have a formalls8d process for appointing new staff and for performanc8 r8views and promotions. When
advertising new roles. we undertake market resoarch to benchmark our salaries against relevant Industy
standards. Each team member has a Roles and Responsibiliiies documen( Induding percentage breakdown of
time and quarterfy objectives. which is reviewed and updated at quarterly revlews. Salari8s are reviewed based
on changes to responsibilities to ensure staff are appropriately and fairly remunerated for expanding job roles
and increased seniority. We have an annual salary benchmarking review to provide transparency and ensur8
consist8ncy across the team.

The process for calculating key managèment remuneration is similar to that of the rest of thè workforce with

reach 30,000 young people annually in the United Kingdom.

across Portugal.
In the UK, 144 schools d8llv8red our Innovate for Cllmate Change course, a 58% Increase from Ihg prèvious
academic year, and 101 schools delivered our App for Social Action course in its very flrst year. W8 also
conducted a small pilot of our new Al for Good course whlch is now live for the 2024125 academic year, and
already gaining popularity.
Th8 charfty was succ8s8ful in its fundraising efforts allowlng us to Invest in the right areas. trialllng and testlng
new methods of marketing. includlng podcasts. d1￿ct mall, and advertislng allowing us to target our
ommunication lo schools in challenging circumstances. Apps for Good also employed new members In

After a thorough revlew and consultation wlth educators, we havè gradually retired our older courses. ￿p1acing
them over the past three years with three new courses - Innovate for Clirnate Change, App for Social Actlon and
Al for Good. There are a number of benefits to deliverlng our new coursès. We draw on the very best teachlng
and leaming approaches: course delivery Is shorter and more flexible. plus the courses are Skills Builder
accredited and mapped to UK computing currfculums.
Now that we've Introducod our new courses, our focus tums lo making sure we reach even more schools,
specifir211y those in challenging clrcumslances. We're exploring new ways to reach educators, which are
sympathetic to the incredlbly busy schedules of school leaders and dassroom teachers.

Apps for Good has 8n ambltious strategy to help young people change their world through 18chnology. To deliver
this strategy, we need funds. Raising funds does not drive the work of Apps for Good, but il enables us to deliver
our work. We are honest and act with integrity In all our fijndraislng. We alm to bulld mutually beneficlal
partnerships that provide real impact for young p&ople. We conform to recognised Industry practlces and always
enter discussions by way of writing proposals and having signed Contracts by both parties. We have never
received a complaint regarding our fundraislng. We do not Currently target the general public for fundraislng and
are never unreasonably intrusive or contact parties p8rsislenlly. Organisalions willlngly provide funds to our
mission in the spirit of a charitable donation, and we work with them to ensure that We ¢an use their expertlS8.
skills and re8our¢es lo further our impact and support our beneflclarles. We also have a Responslble
Fundraising Policy that is reviewed by Trustees; this outlines the organisations that we would, and would not,
take funding from and the policy lo follow if a member of staff is unsu￿.

Procedures are In place to monltor the flnances and ensure that the Charity retains adequate reserves to meet
Its commitments. The reseryes policy is lo ensure that sufficient funds are available to Cover b8lTheen three and
Six months, salary and running costs. At the year-end our reserves were £423,227 which amounted to seven
months, expendlture. Th8 Trustees are satisfied the reserves a￿ In Ilne with the spirit of the policy and are
considered prudent.

2.1 Basis of preparatlon of flnanclal statements
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance wlth the Charities SORP (FRS 102) -
Accountlng and Reporting by Charfttes.. Ststem8nt of Recommended Practice applicabl8 to charities
preparlng thelr accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK
and Republlc of Ireland (FRS 102) (effectlve 1 January 2019), the Flnanclal Reporting Stsndard
8ppllcable in the UK and Republlc of Ireland (FRS 102) and the Companies Act 2006.

inltially recognised at historical cost or transaction value unless otherwise stated in the relevant

2.2 Golng concom
The accounts have been prapared on the golng concem ba81s as the trustees are of the opinlon that
there are no factors that threaten thè charitys going concern for at least the next 12 months,
b8glnnlng wSth the dat8 on whlch these accounts have been approved.
2.3 Incomo
All Income Is recognl8ed once th8 Charlty has anlltlement to tha Income. it Is probablo that the
income wlll be racelved and the amount of Incom8 receivable can be measured reliably.
Grants are Induded In the statement of finandal actlvitie8 on a recelvab18 basls. The balance of
Income received for speciflc purposes but not expended during the perlod is shown in the relevant
funds on the balance sheet. Where income is received in adv8nce of entlllement of receipt, ts
recognition is deferred and included in crediiors as deferred incorne. Where enb'tlement oGcurs
before income is received, the income is accrued.
On receipt. donatsd professlonal services and facilltles are recognised on the basis of the value of
the gift to the Charity which is the amount it would have been willing to pay to obtain services or

The charity18 8 member of a penslon arrangement with People's P8n81on Trust and contributlons are
charged to the Stst8ment of Flnanctal Activlty as pald.
2.12 Fund accountlng
General furKls are unrestrlcted funds whlch arè available for use at the dlscretlon of the Trustees In
furtherance of the general objectives of the Charfty and which havè not been deslgnated for other
purposé8.
Restricted funds are funds which are to be used In accordanc8 vAth sp8clfic restridlons imposed by
donors or whlch have been raised by the Chadty for partlcular purposes. The costs of raislng and
administering such funds are charged against Ihe sp8cific fund. The aim and u88 of each restricted
