Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:

Basis of independent examiner’s statement

My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

Independent examiner's statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention

  1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements:

  2. to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; and

  3. to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act

have not been met; or

  1. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

HOW OUR ACTIVITIES DELIVER PUBLIC BENEFIT

Our main activities and who we try to help are described below. All our charitable activities focus on training and equipping the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ and we have undertaken to further our charitable purposes for the public benefit.

SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES

The charity ran a successful conference in February called 20:20 Vision.

After just three sessions the School of Prophecy was unfortunately curtailed due to the Covid 19 pandemic but plans are to resume it when the restrictions are lifted or to do a Zoom online course.

The mission trip to Cuba in May/June also had to be cancelled due to Covid.

THE STIRRING, SOUTHAMPTON (A COMPANY LIMITED BY GUARANTEE) DIRECTORS' REPORT (Continued) FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST DECEMBER 2020

CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES

The vision remains the same to partner with other organisations to see Jesus’ heart displayed in Southampton and across the world. The Stirring has a heart to see the Kingdom of God here, as it is in heaven. A passionate community of Gods people who love to worship Father God wholeheartedly. We regularly offer prayer for the sick, personal prayer ministry and prophetic encouragement. It is our desire to release Gods will into the lives of those we meet and to fans the flames of revival fire wherever we go.

We continue to build strong relationships with men and women of God from across the world who can train, equip and release believers into the ministry of Jesus. The Stirring is a place to be yourself, and become the kind of person that reflects the passion and heart of Jesus. We follow Him, to become like Him and do the kind of things He did and more.

Our vision includes being a place of training and renewal and to this end we run a regional Leadership Hub throughout the year with occasional guest speakers. This year we ran a successful prophetic conference called 20:20 vision with an international speaker David Wagner and renown speaker Sharon Stone from the UK. Some of our worship team support local worship and prayer initiatives like The Burn, part of a worldwide movement and National Heart of Worship (NHOW). We also run regular worship meetings and informal gatherings, though these have been curtailed because of Covid and have been replaced over Zoom.

Plans were to provide teaching and training in many churches nationally and internationally including USA, Nigeria, Cuba and the UK. Covid 19 prevented travel so teaching and training were completed online over Zoom to places including Africa, Nigeria, USA and the UK.

FINANCIAL REVIEW

During the year ended 31st December 2020, the Charity had net income of 1,649 making reserves carried forward at 31st December 2020 for £7217. This is set out in further detail in the accompanying annual accounts.

In the year ended 31st December 2020, gross income of £28,259 included donations of £13,911, £10,495 from our 20:20 Prophetic Conference in February and £895 from our School of Prophecy in March.

The net income for the 20:20 Prophetic conference was £3,206 and the School of Prophecy was £825. Unfortunately the Covid-19 pandemic caused our Cuba Mission trip to be cancelled and we made a loss of £2,609 mainly due to prepurchased flights. We have however been given a credit note/voucher for American Airlines for £1574 towards future flights which are valid for 24 months.
