The objectives have, once again, been achlgved by holdlng the sociell8 annu818h¢)w at Great Gran8den,
maintaining the traditional community event of prevlous years and allracling peoplg of all ages, from all walks of
life. Th6 community benehts Irom the opportunity to prowde $8rvicos lo the 8how with the committeè u$ing local
trade where possible. The show includ68 a variety of ¢omp8lilions, exhibitions. displays, and trade 6tand5, 10
involve and educate local 8choDl8, community groups and familie8.
For the local agricuhural and horticultural community, tha Sh¢￿ 1$ on opportunty lo come together to exchange
idéa$ and knowledge, make new acquaintances and renew old ones. There Is strong 8en88 of Gommunity within
the show which 18 well regardèd by many.
Local schools •ro t1￿1ble lo appty for grants to enhance the pupi15' uThJorstsnding of agriculture and horticulture.
AppliGalion5 were recelved from 8chw18 during the year. Prevlou8 grants have bèen used lo dgvglop gardening,
famiing and outdoor activlties and to 8UPPOrt trips for educational. agricultural or hort￿VIll1ral purpo808.

Thé charity seeks to provide an annual Show in the viliage ol Great Gran8den, 88 one of Ihe few even15 of its
typ8 still run on a rggular basis in the UK.
The committee who organi5e th8 details ol the show Iwhich involves trustees and other intlNidualsl seek to
provide a range of demonstrations and activf(ies wh￿h provide somglhing of interest for everyone while
maintsining an agricultural flavour. The 8h¢)w day a180 provides an opportunity for vi8f(ors to gel close lo a range
of farm animals.
The charity is dependent on income received from visrtors and businesses attending the show, as well as other
sponsorship and advertising revenue. When surplus funds are available, the trustees make donations to other
charities and communty groups.

The society8 members commlttee and dlra¢tor8 8ub coffmittee meet several tlmes during the ye8f lo plan
Gran8d8n Dlstrlct Agrlcultural Society'8 gnnual show.
The Gharills onlino booking $y$lem recorded 4,335 tickets being sokl on the day, plu8 around 2.5CQ sold in
advance. If members, judges and exhibitors are al80 included, il 18 eslimaled that over 7,500 peoplo vl8ked the
show.
The 8how In¢lUd￿ many of the u8U81 comp8tlllon8 lor 6ho8p, cattle, poultry #nd hor606 and welcomed di8playB
of rare breed animals, flowgr8, country CTaft8 and vintagè vehlcles around the showground. The show continue8
to be well publicised in the local community. as well as using the chanty'8 website and Facebook p8ge8.
The 8ucce88 of the 2023 Show enabled tha charity to give a total of £6,075 to other orggnl$8tlon812022 £5,000).

The charrty generated not In¢om8 of £16.370 in the year {2022 surplug of £2,733}. After maklng appropriate
enquiries, the Trustee8 have a rea80n8ble eX￿latIOn th81 the charfly ha8 adequate re8ourcg8 to continue in
operational existence for the fore8eeable fvturo. For Ihls re8son. they conllnue to adopt the going concem basis
in preparing the flnanc181 slalement8. Further details regarding th• 8d¢)Ptlon of the going concem ba818 can be
found in the accounting poliGies.
b. R•8oN•s poIIcy
The Iruslees arg mindlul that the c03ts of holdlng the each year continue to rise and that a great deal of
tlme is provided free of charge by volunteers, partlcularly in th8 weeks leading up lo the day of the show. It has
been the charity's policy to maintain reserves sufficient to support at least a full years expenditure as (( would
not be unkn¢)wn for tha show to hava lo be cancelled the day before, 5ti11 incurrin9 the majonty of costs bul
without any income. Th8 trustees Gon5ider that th¢ main risk factors which may causo the show to be cancelled
are diseases and poor weather, neither of which can bg Controlled by the charity.

minimum resgtvos policy largety due to a number of $u¢c¢ssful years. where attendance at the show has
brought in more than enough income to cover co$t$. Howgver, as the show is held out of d¢Jors, h 1$ dependent
on good weather 8nd the eommttment of mgmbers and Iruslees, so levels of incomg cannot be relied upon for
future years. Consequenlty, the trustees need lo malnlain sufficient reserves to cover any potential shortfall in
the future. The Iruslee8 have continued lo actively promote the grant schemes availablè lo Indlviduals and
schools and have increa$8d the donations made lo other organisation3 In 2023. They continue to monitor the
level of accumulated reserves going foTh¥ard to en8uro that the charitys funds are u8ed to further th¢ Qharltable
obieclives.

In accordance with nomal cornmercial Practice, the charity has purchased indemnity insurance to protect the
Irusteesldirectors from claim$ arising against them while acting on behalf the charity. The level of cover for
