The Trustees present their annual report together the financial statements of the Gransden and Oistrict
Agricultural Soctety for the year l January 2021 to 31 December 2021. The Annual report serves the Purposes
of both a Trustees. report and a directors. report under ￿MpanY law. The Trustees confirm thal the Annual
report and finanaal Statements of the charitable company coM￿Y wth Ihe current statulory requirements. the
reqU1￿MentS of the charrtable compan*s goveming document and the provisions of the Statement of
Recommended Pracb"ce {SORPI ap￿Ica￿e lo charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the
Financial Repoth"n9 Standard applicable in Ihe UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS1021 (effective 1 January 2019).

The charitys objectbve is the advancement of agricultijre and horbculiure for the public benefft.

published by the Charity Commission rdating to wblic benefft, induding the guKlan¢e 'Public benefft.. running a

b. Actlvilies undertaken to achieve obJe¢llves
The obiectives have, once agan. been achieved by holding the society's annual show at Great Gransden.
ma￿18￿nIng the tradib.onal community event of previous years and attracting people of all ages, from all walks of
life. The cornrnunity benefits from the opportunrty to provide serwces to the show wth the committee using IoGal
trade where possible. The show indudes a variety of cornpetibons. exhibits"ons, displays. and trade stands, lo
involve and edurale ioral 5Ghoo15. communty groups and families. The tW5tee5 were delighted that the 2021
show was able to go ahead after canceth'ng the 2020 Show due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
For the local agricultural and horticultural community. Ihe show is an ¢¥Jportunity to come together lo exchange
ideas and knovAedge, make new acquaintances and renew ￿e$. There is strong sense of community within
the show which is well regarded by many.

Applications were received from kn 5chods during the year. to be considered after the year end. Previous
grants gave have been used lo develop gardening. farming and outdoor acb"wb"es and to support trips for
etjuotional, agricultural or hO￿"Cutt￿ral purposes.

The charity seeks lo provide an annual show in the V￿lage of Great Gransden. as one ol the few events of its
type still run on a regular basis in the UK.
The committee organi5e the det￿lS of the show It*thich irwolves trustees and other indNidualsl seek lo
provide a range of demonstrations and activities wthich provide something of interest for everyone while
maintaining an agricultural fia¥our. The show day also an oFwlunity for visitors to get dose to a range
of farm animals.

The charity is dependent on income received from visitors and businesses attending the show, as well as other
sponsorship and adverti￿n9 revenue. When surplus funds are available, the trustees make donalions to other
charilies and community groups. In 2021. donalions ranging from £117 to £600 were made to Gransden B￿8
Club, the Pony Club, Cadels. RA81. Mothws Union. Ladies in P￿s. Bn"tssh Pig ASs￿latIon and ROur￿ab0UI
Magazine.
The trustees consider that the ￿ge of activities provided and donab"ODS made to other organisations enable
the charrty lo fvlfil its requirement to operate for the public benefft, in accrydance With the Charity Commission
guidance.
Achievem•nts and p•rfornun¢e
a. Main •chievements of the charity
The society's member$ ￿mmittee and directors sub committee meet Several times during the year to plan
Gransden and District Agricullural Souetys annual Show.
The charitys online booking system saw ticket$ for 3.556 ￿ullS and 282 thildTen being booked online and an
esb"mated 2,800 tickets being sold on the day. Once again, the annual show which included compets"lions for
sheep, (athe. Fouttry and horses and V￿lcOmed display5 of rare breed anima15, flower5, county crafts and
vintage vehicles around the showground. The show was well publiused in the local community, as well as using
the charrty's V•tbsrte Fa¢ebook pages.
The su¢¢es$ of the 2021 show enabled the tharty to give a totsl of £2.618 to other organi$ation$ {2020 £2,192)
and applications for granis from h¥0 lo¢al ￿h1>91S are also under con%deration.
Fln•n¢ial review
a. Going con¢em
The UK continued to experience a pandemic of the c￿Ona¥1ruS throU￿oUt 2021 but, *ith additional precautions
being in place in line wth guidance issued by the UK Govemment. the 2021 show was a￿e to go ahead.
The chanty generated net income of £17.397 and. after making appropriate enquiries. the Trustees have
asonable expectslion that the charity ha5 adequate resources lo ¢onb"nue in operab.onal existence for the
foreseeat4e fvture. FOT Ihis reason. they continue to adopt the going concern ba515 in preparing the financial
ststemenls. Furthw detsils reg*ding Ihe adopb.on of the going ¢oncem bass can be found in the accounting
poli¢*s.
b. Reserves policy
The trustees are mindful that the Costs of holding the shtsw each ￿ar conb.nue to rise and that a great deal of
lime is provided free of charge by volunteers. path"cularty in the V•Eeks leading up lo the day of the show. 11 ha5
been the charity's poli¢y to maTrntsin reseryes suffrcient lo support at least a fvll year5 expenditure as it would
not be unknown for the show to have lo be cancelled the day before, still in¢urring the majority of ¢osts but
thout any income. The tnJstees conswjer that the main risk factors which may cause the show to be ¢an¢elled
are diseases and poor weather, nerther of ¥thich can be controlled by the chanty.

The trustees estimate the tolal costs lo be in the region of £80,000 10 £85,000 per annum and seek to hold
general reserves of at least this amount. ￿thOUgh Ihe 2020 show was cancelled, the chanty5 actual level of
serve5 continues to be much higher than the minimum reserves policy. The trustees have continued to
actively promote the grant Scheme for indtwduals and schools and conbnue to monitor the level of accumulated
reserves going fowdrd.

The mar￿eMent of the company is the responsibility of the trusteesldirectors. The appointment of
trusteesldirectors is in accordance Vlith the Memorandum and Artide5 of Assoaation. The directors may appoint
mid-term, by resolution, a person vtho is willing to act to be a direclor but thi5 person must then retsre al the next
AGM and cannot be used lo determine the one third of director5 being reqUI￿d lo retire by rotation anntsally.

The Trustees have assessed the major risks to vthich the charity is exposed. in partKular those related to the
operab"on5 and finances of the chanty. and are sats"sfied that systems and procedures are in place to mrtigale
exposure to the major risks.

In a￿ordanCe th normal ¢ommeroal practi￿. the Charity has PU￿haSed indemnity insurance to protect the
trusteesldirectors from daims arising against them vthile acting on behall the charity. The thl of cover for
