Para 1.17 and 1.19 Main activities in the reporting period: 1) Communication work to raise awareness of the plight of the Bornean orangutan and the threat to its survival through articles on website, social media and publications including Save the Orangutan Group Annual Report. 2) Raised funds from the general public in UK to support the conservation efforts of Save the Orangutan and its local partners on Borneo through symbolic adoptions of orphaned orangutans at the rehabilitation centre Nyaru Menteng in Central Kalimantan and rainforest partners (223 recurring donors) 3) Provided donors with regular updates on the results of their donation. 4) Cooperated with other Save the Orangutan organisations maximising the impact of the activities of the Charity on the conservation of the Bornean orangutan and its habitat. The Trustees have used the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit to guide its planning of activities in accordance with the purpose and objectives of Save the Orangutan. Achievements and Performance SORP reference Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity's work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. The income of Save the Orangutan in 2024 was a total of GBP 31,149. The funds were raised through our recurring donor programs, one-off donation appeals and legacies. Para 1.20 In 2024 GBP 15,000 were transferred to Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation, for their work with orangutan rescues, rehabilitation, sanctuaries, release, post- release monitoring and protection of their habitat. The funds contributed to the rescue of four orangutans from human-orangutan conflicts and reintroduction of 21 orangutans to the wild or at pre-release islands after a successful rehabilitation, reaching 539 orangutans released since 2012. In 2024, Save the Orangutan Group replanted together with our local partners on Borneo more than 20 hectares with 22,222 trees in Central Kalimantan. GBP 6,476 were used on awareness raising and engagement activities of the plight of the orangutan among the UK general public. In 2024, 14 articles were published on savetheorangutan.org covering stories related to orangutans, their habitat and our work. Save the Orangutan had 28.287 unique visitors on the org and org.uk sites. Information was also communicated through newsletters (868 subscribers) and social media. Facebook posts had a top organic reach by 253,411. 74 posts in total were published on Facebook in 2024, with 11,458 followers. Our Instagram account had 58 new posts in 2024 with 14,200 followers.
