For the Year ended 31, December 2023
The Parochial Church Council (PCC) registered as a charrty with the Charity Commission on 1 December
2009. The PCC is the executive committee of the parish, and consists of deputy churchwardens. together
with representatives of the laity. The appointment of PCC members is govemed by and set out in the
Church RepreSentat￿n Rules and new PCC members are briefed on their roles and responsibilities. The
PCC meets every two rnonths to discuss ongoing plans and con￿rn$.
Everybody on the Electoral Roll is eligible to seek nomination for the PCC and elections are held at the
Annual Parish Council Meeting, to which all Church members are encouraged to attend.
The primary aim of the PCC is the promotion of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according lo the
doctrines and practices of the Church of England. The PCC cTroperales wilh the incumbent in promotlng
in the parish the whole mission of the Church, pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumgnical. 11 is
responsible for the financial affairs of Ihe church and the care and maintenance of the church fabric and its
onlenls.
The PCC is commitled to enabling as many peop18 as possible to worship in our church and to become part
of our parish communty. The PCC maintains an overview of worship throughout the parish and makes
suggestions on how our seNices can involve the many groups that live wtthin our parish. Our services and
worship PLrt faith into practice through prayer and scripture, music and sacrament.
When planning our actlvlties for the year, the PCC have considered the CommissDn's gUidaT￿ on pubfic
benefit and, in particular, the specific guidance on chartties for the advancement of religion. In particular, we
try to enable ordinary people to live out their faith as part Df our parish community through..
Worship and prayer.. learning about the Gospel,. and developing their knowledge and trust in Jesus.
Provision of pa51oral care for people living in the parish.
Missionary and outreach work.
To facilttate this work it is important that we maintain the fabric of the Churth and the hall.
The Church was open on Saturday and Tuesday mornings for anyone lo attend this and from November
2023 as g Wann Hub. A grant has been ￿Ceived of £2,500 from Shire Grants to help with the running and
heating costs. The church services are transmitted online through YouTube with over 100 viewers. There
are women's and men's fellowship groups which meet regularty. Several social aTrJ fundraising events
were 8rranged by volunteers in 2023 raising over £7,CM)O.
The PCC agreed to continue lo support the Children's s￿iety, Passlon Youth Project and the Shepshed
Food Bank. We also gave £500 each to Steps and Mercy Ships. The Church has continued to raise funds
for Christian Aid. This year the Christingle services raised £921.67 for the Children's Society. The
activities of the Church have been possible tecause of the time given by a large number of volunteers.
Worship and Prayer- The PCC are keen to offer a range of seNices during the week and over the course of
the year that our communty find both beneficial and spiritualty fU￿111ng. Following the retirement of our
Incumbent in 2022 we have continued to be well supported by our Associate Priest, visiting clergy 8nd Lay
Readers and wf(h some change8 to our pattem of worshlp have maintained a variety cf services. There are
over 200 people in our worshipping communty. with around 80 attending on a'usual" Sunday. We have
now begun lo engage with the Minster Communty formation process with other Churches in the North and
North West of the Diocese.
As well as our regular services, we enable our communty to celebrate and thank God at the milestones of

the joumey through lrfe. Through baptism we thank God for the gift of lrfe, in marriage publlc vows are
exchanged with God's blessing and through fvneral services friends and famity express their grief and give
thanks for the lrfe which is now complete in thi5 workl and lo commend the person into G¢xl's keeping. The
Church supported those recenlty bereaved through the Light Up a Life event in December when people
were invited lo remember 8 loved one by lighting a candle. 12 individuals were baplised in 2023. 3
Wedding Blessings in 2023 and 30 funeral servi￿$ in the year were held elther in church or conducted ty
a member of the ministry team at the crematorium or cemetery.
Deanery Synod- Two members of the PCC stt on the deanery synod. This provides the PCC with an
important link between the parish and the wider structures of the church.
Community activities- the links with the local primary schools have continued to be developed with
mernbers of the church supporting the schools through assemblies arKI reading with pupils.
The church was used for the Rotsry Chris1rn8s Tree Festival again and thls was well attended with over 40
Christmas Trees on display.
Tolal receipts on unrestricted funds were £122,279. Reslricled donalions of £5,294, Invèslmenl income of
£1,658 and £1,441 in Endowmenl funds were also r8ceived and are detailed in the Financial Statement.
During 2023 we were grateful to received £8.786 in legacies. The parish giving scheme continues lo be
the best way for parlshioners to make regulator monthty gifts. Planned giving is down by just over 11
The pledged conlribulion of £48,000 was pald to the Diocese of Leicester in 2023. The net result for the
year was an excess of receipts over payment of £1,974 on unreslricled funds. Gas and Electric cost were
up by 27 % compared to 2022. Organi51 fees were up by £1,000 as the Oct to Dec fees 2022 were
induded in this year's figures along with payment of a retainer. Funeral costs were up as there was an
additional 12 funerals. Hall Maintenan￿ was increased as w8 had the roof cleared of moss costing
£1,560 and the slab8 Outslde the hall were re-laid £1,245. New immersion heater costing £373.40.
It is our policy to invest our funds balances wrth the CBF Church of England Dgposil Fund. In Fixed Assels
a Trust Investmenl Scheme has been set up this year with an initkql Investment of £10,000, less a set up
fee of £300, with a final gain of £884.02 making a final lolal at the year end of £10,584.02. The Neville
Curates fund of £7,144 and the Nat West account of £415 was transferred to the Trust Investment Scheme.
The Old School Fund can be used at the discretion of the vicar and churchwardens.
Plans for Future Periods
A Roof Repair Funding Campaign was launched at the end of 2021 and has raised £12,879 up to 31"
December 2023. Quotes have been obtained to start the roof repairs arKI we hope to start this essential
work in the first half of 2024.
Risk Mana
ement
The major financial n5k lo which the PCC is exposed is that the Income has been insufficient to cover the annual
costs in 2020 and 2021, but last year and this year our income has exceeded our expenses. Other risks have
been identified and a Health and Safety Policy and a Child Safeguarding Policy have bgen introduth.
