The Trustees present their annual report together with the financial statements of Uxbridge Road Tabernacle Reformed Baptist Church (the charity) for the year ended 30 September 2022. The Trustees confirm that the Annual report and financial statements of the charity seek to comply with the current statutory requirements, the requirements of the charity's governing document and the provisions of the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) "Accounting and Reporting by Charities" issued in January 2019 (FRS102). 

## Structure, governance and management 

## a. Constitution 

The policy and operating decisions of the charity rest with the Trustees who meet regularly to monitor the activities of the Charity. 

## b. Method of appointment or election of Trustees 

The management of the charity is the responsibility of the Trustees who are elected and co-opted under the terms of the Trust deed being the church constitution which includes the Rules and Regulations revision dated 24/01/2013 

## c. Risk management 

The Trustees have assessed the major risks to which the charity is exposed, in particular those related to safeguarding, health-safety and security risk assessment and a major incident action plan. 

d.  Banking The church banks with Santander and Nat West using their branches in Ealing. The church is seeking to balance the amounts which are held between these banks to get as much cover as possible via the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. Whilst efforts are made to hold monies within interest yielding deposit accounts, the interest gained is negligible at this time. 

e. Independent Examiner - The churches interpretation of the latest requirements is that the services of an appropriately qualified person should be engaged. This report is included within this submission. 

f. Organisation structure. As a Bible believing church we take for our instruction matters such as church governance from New Testament. The structure of Elders and Deacons is utilised with the Pastor being the preaching Elder taking the lead. He, as a salaried position, is supported by Elders and Deacons. The Elder/s are focussed on the spiritual wellbeing of the membership and attendees of the church whilst the Deacons focus on the general wellbeing of the membership and attendees of the church. The practical upkeep and general running of the fabric of the buildings falls under the responsibility of the Deacons. The church officers meet, at least, in compliance with the requirements of the Constitution and decisions made, which affect the church through expenditure or have need of approval are brought to the members for corporate agreement at the bi-monthly meetings. 

g. Policies and Procedures - The church does seek to maintain a standard of record and control over its documentation with revisions being carried out, approved and changes tracked. This is an ongoing process. 

## Objectives and Activities 

h. Policies and objectives 

In setting objectives and planning for activities, the Trustees have given due consideration to general guidance published by the charity commission relating to public benefit and in particular to its supplementary public benefit guidance on the advancement of religion for the public benefit. 

The principal object of the charity is to be a gathering of Christians where the praise and worship of God is offered up along biblical lines and where there is active service towards the extension of Christ's kingdom. This objective is sought to be achieved by regular Sunday services, youth work, outreach and the support of a number of missionary endeavours in the United Kingdom and abroad. 

i. Grant making policies The Church Officers develop an annual allocation of grants before being presented to church members for agreement.

j. Going concern After making appropriate enquiries, the Trustees have a reasonable expectation that the charity has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future.

each Sunday in the church bullding but the mld- week Blble stLAdy and prayer meetlng have
been conducted over Zoom. and remaln so at present. Th15 has allowed frlends and vlsltors
other countrles and those who are house bound to }oln In these meetinBS and the
Ilowshlp. All Lord"5 Day servlces have been Ilve streamed and recorded on Serrnon ALJdlo
and people have benefited from th15 mediurn all over the world. 8ecause of the restrlcrion
on the number able to attend a funeral. a meTnorial servlce was held In November for an
elderly member and a farthful adherent who had dled prevlously In the year. With a poor
attendance of Sunday Explorers followlng covld and lock-downs. the monthly famlly servlce
was suspended and replaced by the 8ospel servlce but with the l¥rpproving 51tLJatlon
commenced again in July and was followed by lunch. Because of the Inltlal Success crf
encouraaing parents and Chilrlren tr) stay for lunch these lunches wlll contlnue bi-monthlv
after future family services. The youth work ¢ontifiuetl throughout the year but recovery of
attendance was slow but Improved In the latter half of the year.
In vlew of Pastorfs intention to retire several recommended men have been Inwted to
preach with regard to the pastoral vacancy. However. followlng more formal dlscussions
wbth two pr05pertive candidate's circumstances prevented matters from belng taken
further. we rèmain very prayerful that the Lord will give us much w15dom this matter and
clearly lead tss to a man of His chotce.
The membershlp at the start of the year was 32. During the year one member was removed
from the church roll glvlng a current membershlp of 31. The Trustees wtyuld like to thank
those members who make it PQ5sible for some older folks to anend the meetlngs by
k)rovidin¥ transport. Fortunately the alteration to the parking rÈstrictiOn5 around the ch•Jrch
have not affecte<J the feTrlowship as badly as fir5r thought they mlght. althouth it does mean
some members clo have to walk from Ioc31 residential streets after parking whith is
undesirable in bad weather and dark wlnter evenin8s. We are thankful that parkin8 for
limited number of cars outside the church on 3 Sunday is still permitted for disabled, vi51tOr5
and members. space perTllittin8.
With sptke5 in the recurrence of Covld some fellowshlp meetln85 Suth as the summer
barbeque were cancellecl along with after- church fellowships and the members. fellowshlp
evening in order to comply wlth dlstancln8 restricrions. Leaflets were able to be dlstrlbuted
door to door for the Easter services but distribution ftsr the Carol an¢J Christmas services

were only underraken to passers-by as not enough members were available for distributlo
Again thi5 reÈrettably produced little response. Once again we were able to help the local
food bank from our display for the harvest thank5sivins services. Twelve new posters
contalning scriptural texts have been purchased to be dlsplayed on the exterior of the
church and changed on a monthly basis throughout the year. Wlth the Covld situation
ImproviriK towards the end of the year the door to door vlsltatlon team have recommenced
¥t5itiTrg streets in the neighbourhood.
Regarding subsldence at the manse a financlal settlement has been made w+th the
insurance compariy but meant the actual underplnning reouirecl would be the re5ponsitsilwty
of the church. Thls work and complete refurblshln8 of the manse could not be undertaken
whllst the manse wa5 occvpied. Pastor and his wife moved into thelr bungalow In Essex at
the end of Aprll and the underplnnlng wa5 undertaken soon aftenwards. Internal
redecoration has been substantially completed and Is still on-8oifJ8. Our grateful thanks go
to those member5 who have participated Sn thls work. In vlew ot the amount of work
required on the manse. the work on the church arnpllflcatlon and audio 5YStem remains in
abeyancÈ. This year.s thank offerin8 has also been added to the prevlous years in order to
meet the cost of thls atsdlo work.
In the interest of seruritv and safety. lighting has been erected on the front canopy of the
church to increase the vkslblllty of the steps for people enterlnz and exltlng the chtsrch and
to ald reco8nltlon of those enterin8_ The church lift has not seen much use thls year but still
developed a fault sug8este(4 to be caused by wear. Due to the lack of use of the lower hall.
which is well below ground level. the smell tsf dampne55 has becorne more noticeable. This
has been improved in the summer months by the openlns of wlndows but measure5 may be
needed to increase aSrtlow throuxhout the hall wfjthout the risk of intrLAsion. Towards the
end of the year, after clrca. 40 year5 of 5ervlce. the church Dr8an ha5 cleveloped a tsujt
defyin8 the skills of the rnanvfacturers engineer to fix. Accompaniment has continued usln8
the electric plants but replacement of the organ may be a consideration for next ¥ear_
The Church throughout the year has contfjnued to financially Support the work of the Lanka

The Church has a150 SUPPOrted the work of the Christian rnstitvte as they
defend Chrirtian prlnoples and ethics which the 8Overnment. Individuals and movements
eek to urhdei i￿1117￿ ¥ry¢Je. We also Support our member who speciali5es in workin8 with
uslim wornen In the area through her Bible class.
The Church is completely independent ot any organ4satron In regard to Its fifiancial support.
It is only throu8h the generous 8ivrng of its membership that Sufnclent ￿ndS to maintain its
responslbtlities and comfflstments tts its Pastor. 5UPPOrt misslon3rv or8anisations and carry
Out buildln8 and property maintenance. We continue to be thankful for the 8Overnrnents
