The Clrcult produces a quarterly preachlng plan to ensu￿ regular acts of worshlp
tske place at each of the Methodlst churches and chapels In rts 8eographlcal
area. The acts of wor5hlp are open to all.
The Clrcuit runs and supports two after-school drop-lns In Llangollen and at the
in Can, (the old Rhosnesni chapel) In Wrecsam, the latter beln8 undertaken In
partnership with the Church Army. A parent and toddler group Is run in
Wrexham. Some of our churche5 run successful community coffee mornln8S
which are a much-valued meetln8 place for people from the wlder communlty.
Most of our churches make their church halls available to thelr local communltles
as a resource. Many churthes collect for the local foodbank. A vaflety of other
charities are 5UPPOrted by the efforts of indlvldual churches. Also durlng the year
volunteers from the Circult have worked out thelr falth through partlclpatlng In a
number of external charltable and civic organisat￿n$. We conflrm that the

the year
The Clrcult exlsts to resource and sUPPOrt Its churches in their worshlp and mlssion to
the communities in which they are situated. In Methodist polity the Circuit is the
prlmary unit of misslon. At the stsrt of the reporting period worship took place in all
but one church V￿ekly0n a Sundayand one church has a worshlp servl¢e once a
month. Most of our serv1￿$ are In the mornln& wlth one church havlng afternoon
worship. There are also occasional Sunday evening services. Due to very limlted
demand the Circuit decided to cease its online services on Zoom. The Clrcult Is
conscious that our worshlp has tended for obvlous reason5 to happen almost
exclusively on a Sunday mornlngs. However the Circuit and its Individual churches
contlnue to explore ways of maklng collectlve worshlp avallable who cannot attend
normal Sunday worshlp servlces both through regular onslte worshlp on a weekday•
worship in care homes and onllne wor5hlp.
Wynnstsy Methodlst Church continued to worshlp on two sltes (Ruabon and
Rhosyrnedrel untll Easter 2025. A slgnificant deterforatlon In thé condltion of the
bulldlng at Rhosymedre meant that the congre8atlon there and the mana8lng twstees
of Wynnstay declded that they would have to cease worshlp there. Due to careful
pastoral preparation and support by the Rev Marian Jone5 (Supernumerary Mlnlstsr
with pastoral overS￿ht for Wynnstsy} and a longer perlod of close workln8 and Jolnt
seTvlces, the regular congregation that fom7erly met In Rhosymedre have all settled
Into and are attendln8 servlces at Ruabon Chapel.
Rhosddu Methodlst Church became a class of Wrexham Methodlst Church In 2021.
Worshlp had contlnued monthly In Rhosddu wlth the con8re8atlon there encoura8ed to
attend worshlp at Regent Street on the other Sundays In the month. The volunteer
Clrcult Lay Pastoral Worker was appointed as class leader for the congre8atlon at
Rhosddu with the consequentlal pastoral and splrltual overslght that comes forrn that
role as set out In Standlng Orders. Over tlme due to a8e and infirmlty the congregatlon
attending monthly worshlp dwlndled to between fyvo and four and It was declded to
cease regular acts of worship at Rhosddu at Easter 2025. Followlng th15 decision one
former member Is now worshlpplng regularly at aTrother church In the Cir¢uit, and the
remalnlng former con8regation members are beln8 encouraged to attend worshlp at
Regent Street. Rhosddu chapel contlnues to host a con8re8atlon from another
denomlnatlon, Is used by communty 8roups and the Circult holds occastonal planned
acts of worship there.
Worship across the Circuit was conducted by one full-tlme presbyter, four
supernumerary presbyters. nine fully accredtted active local preachers and one
preacher ID training. Additionally four worship leaders were available to support
preachers or lead non preathing service5 in their own church. We continue to be
8rateful for the supwrt of a mlnlster and local preacher from the Buckley and Deeside
Circult to lead worshlp In our churches.

Stafflng
Durfn8 the year the Rev Neville Pugh, a Supemumerary Pfesbyter who had pastoral
oversight of the congregation at Overton had to step back from hls role due to health
i55ues. Ther Circuit 15 8rateful to Neville for hls ministry there and the Superlntendent
Minister stepped in to ensure both a continued pastoral presen￿ and to ensure that
the governance responsibilities of the managing trusteÈs continued to be fulfilled.
The staffing of the Circuit for thè year was the full-time presbyter, two supernumerary
presbyters working one day per week each under a letter of understandlng from the
Clrcuit and wlth delegated authorlty under SO 502 1 Ib) Ill) to chalr church counclls and
other meetings associated with the churches that they hold pastoral oversight of. In
addltk)n we have a lust over half tlme youth and chlldren's worker. one lay pastoral
workerwho works one day and a parttlme admln15tratOT14 hour5 per weekl. Therels
one voluntary lay pastoral worker appolnted by the Clrcult Meetlng. The Mana8lng
Trustees wlll continue to reflect on the rlght mrA of staffin8 roles to ensure the Circult Is
able to successfully undertake Its charltable alms, sublect to the flnanclal constralnts
that the arcuit and Its Indlvldual churches fa￿.
Mlsslon- Chlldren and YOU￿ People
A contlnued hl8hll8ht In the arcuFYs mSni5try are the actFvlt5es of the Chlldren and
Youth Worker. Trlsh Earlam. Trlsh's work Is prSmarlly wlth chlldren and youn8 people
who are either on the frln8es of our churches or outside of the Chrlstlan Falth. Thls Ss
done through two after xhool drop-lns, at Llangollen and In Wrexham (the latter beln8
a partnershlp between the Circult and the Church Army). In add5tlon Trlsh's role as
Chaplaln to the Bovs and Girls, Bri8ades In Caer8wrle Is hlghly valued by the BrS8ades
and has enabled the Clrcuit and Caergwrle Church to better fulfll thelr obllgatlons to
support the spirltual Ilfe of the Brlgades. Thls conslstent leadership has led to a number
of Brl8ade rnernbers Jolnin8 In with wider Circult events.
Trish was appolnted Convener of the Momentwm (the Distrlct youn8 people's
organisation) team and youn8 people frorn across the Clrcult attended both 3Generate,
the Methodlst a)urch's national IUKI chlldren and young people's gatherlng In the NEC
and the Big Day OUL the Olstrlct young people's event. The work that Is done on behalf
of Momentwm has a 51gnlficant benef5t to the dlsclpleshlp of young people across the
Clrcult.
Llangollen Church has continued Its successful minlstry wlth chlldren- partlcularly the
monthly 'Jammy Church, sessions. In addition several members of Llangollen volunteer
to help at the after school drop in and other Clrcult young people's actlvities. Thanks
must also be exter￿ed to several members of Caerywrle Church who. after the
unexpected arrNal of a family in a church that had not had children In worshlp on •
Sunday momln8 for several years, stepped up wlth the mlnlmum of fuss to start a new
Sunday School.

Mlsslon- Communlty Engagement
Llangollen. Overton, Ruabon and Caery4Vrte hold regular communlty coffee momings.
These provide a valuable opportunity for engagement with the wider community In
which they are slted and are especially valuable In combatting lsolatlon. Gresford
Church runs two groups- Caffi and Whlst- whlch are speclfically almed at the elderly
to build community and in the case of Caffi whlch includes a chair exercise session, to
help alleviate some of the negative physical effe¢ts of the a8elng proce55.
Many of the people In our con8regatlons contlnue to INe out thelr Christian dlsclpleshlp
through thelr own volunteerlng wFth many organlsations In thelr own communlty.
A slgnlfkant plece of misslon and communlty engagement took place at the
Internatlonal Elsteddfod whlch Is held annually in Uangollen wlth the Incluslon of a
Peace Tent at the slte. Thls wa5 Inltlated by Llangollen Methodist Church will support
from other churches In the town. The Peace Tent 15 open throughout the E15teddfod as
Pla￿ to reflert on the theme of peace (which Is Integral to the Elsteddfodl and It Is
Intentionally a qulet area away from the busyness of the rest of the slte. Thls was
supported through the provSslon of a small mlsslon grant from the arcult.
Wrexham Methodlst Church Invlted vark>us communlty organlsatlons to partlclpate In
Its Chrlstmas Tree Festlwals wlth the trees they decorated focusslng on thelr work and
Identlty. Organisatlons Includlng the Scouts, 8roups helplng domestlc abuse suNlvors,
Chrlstians Together In Wrexham and Trefnu Cymudedol Cymru la communlty
organislng charlty based In North East Wales) contrlbuted to the festlval along wlth
varlous church and Cirruit groups.
Resourus
The sale process for the redundant chapel at Brymbo contlnued throu8hout the year
the managing trustees havin8 previously entered into a contra¢ to sell the property to
Wales and West Housing Assoclation. The sale Itself Is sublect to Wales and West
Housing obtsinin8 planning permission for the development. Due to wlder plannln8
Issues In Wrexham County Borough primarlly phosphate contsminatlon of the local
watercourses, the process is taklng s18nificantly longer than expected. At the end of
the year. the property was still in the care of the Circuit and the plannin8 process Is stlll
ongoing at the time of wrltln8 thls report.
The Circuit launched its new webslte In January 2025. The arcult chose to use
company (Then Medial which has extensive experience in produ¢ln8 websites for
Methodlst Clrcuits and Churches. In addition to the website itself the software behlnd
the webslte also allows the Superlntendent Mlnister to produce the plan more
efflciently and unlike the paper plan (whlch is stlll produced) the seDilces details can be
updated if there Is for example a change of preacher and these detslls automatlcally
feed through to the web51te. It is hoped that the Circuit trustees and individual
churches will make full use of the website to allow them to connect with a wlder digital
audience.

Brief ststement of the charivs
policy on reser￿
The Reserves Pollcy for the Wrexham Methodist arcult Is to hold a sum
equivalent to 50% of a norrnal yearfs expendlture- l.e. approxlmately
£70.0(Kl. This is deemed sufficient to meet any unforeseen item of
major expenditure on manses andlor to be able to contlnue. In the short
term, the fundin8 of planned acttvlties In the event of the closure of •
large church or an IrRbilty to raise the full Circuit Assessment from
churches.

71% of the Circuivs income wa5 provided by the local churches. Income
from the churches decreased SI18ht￿ compared to the prevlous year and
has remalned broadly flat over the prevlous three year5. However costs
have Increased and thls means th• arcult Is Increasln8ly rellant on the
Income from property Settlngs whlch makes up the majorlty of the
remalnlng Income, to fund its basic artlvttles.
60% of the Clrculf s expendlture was on mlni5terlal stlpends, lay worker
salaries and related costs, and a further 20% was our contrlbutlon to the
Synod, of whlch part Is used to fund the work of the wlder Methodlst
Church. Manses accounted for a further 12% of costs.
