Hanls, BH25 SAA REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDING 31 DECEMBER 2023 The Trustees have pleasure in submrtting the Report and Accounts for the year. Purpose The church is a charty and its principal purpose is the advancemenl of the Christian Faith. Mlsslon To Know ChTist- To Make Chnsl Known Vlslon Our Community Discovering Church Government The policy and operating decisions of the charty rest with the Trustees who regularly meet lo monrtor the activities of the charity. R•vl•w of A¢tlvltle$ Our activities continue lo refiect our mission statement. To Kntyw Christ-To Make Christ Known. We have been able to meet together for worship throughout 2023. OUT main service is al 10.30 and is well attended and the prayer meeting at 6.00pm is led by different people each week and has various top￿ lor prayer. We continue to live stream the main service each week. The tr4vice weekty prayer meelings conlinue to be held on z(￿M. The monthty Deacon$ Meetings are held in person and we now hold hybrid Church Meetings wh￿h alk)w those with young Children, or who are unable to come out lo attend the meetings. A Church Camp, which was well attended, was held over the Summer Bank Holiday Weekend al Headlands near Ringwood. On the Sunday around 50 people from the church who weren't camping attended the Th)ming sefvice and stayed lo eat their picnics sitting around the lake, some even stayed for the afternoon actNities. 11 was great lo all meet logelher lo worship in the beautrful $uffoundings. For those that ￿uldn't gel lo the camp a more traditional Se￿￿e was held at Ashty. At Christmas we joined with local churches for a Nativity Trail and Carols on the local recreation ground, around 60 children and their families attended. We held our Annual Carols by Candlelwht, a Nalivty Service on the Saturday before Christmas and Christmas Morning Worship, all three service$ were well attended. Page 3

Connect Groups Our Connect groups meet regularly and an annual review was held at the end of Juty this year. This meant that some people changed groups and a couple of extra groups have been formed. The focus of the groups is connecting wrlh one another for spiritual growth. Youth and Children's Work Leader- Kate Perryman. Youth. Children's and Schcols Worker The Ark, a parenl and toddler group goes from strength to strength and we regularly gel 35 8nd 40 families through the door. The 4 weeks leading up to Christmas were spent looking al different parts of the Christmas story and theming the craft to the story. The Light Paty in October was a big success. Over 100 people attended and enjoyed the crafts, paty games and a talk about how Jesus is our I￿h1. Sunday groups have been going well. The creche has relumed lo rts own room and has received a positive reaCt￿n from the parents. Ignite for the teenagers runs 3 times a month. This is to albw the young people lo lake a more adive role in our serwtis and give them the opportunty to use their grft$. Core Group, for the young people providing them with Bible based teaching to continue their Christian Journey continue lo meet on a Monday Evening. This has been positNe with up to 10 young people attending each week. Rooted, for youngslers in school years >6, is a new group started this year, it has good attendance and is aimed al bringing on these younger people into a deeper underslanding of the Christian faith Kale has been going into the infant school regulaty as part of the Open the Book team which meet fortnighlly. She continues lo meet fortnighlty with a group of children in a mentoring capacity. They talk al)out life. concerns elc while playing a gameldoing a craft and rt has been really posrtive. This year Kale has run evenls for Ihe local Junior School. "Easter Cracked" which saw 90 year 6 childfen and their staff explore the events of the Easter Story and 'Chrislmas Unwrapped. invest￿ated the real meaning of Christmas wilh year 4 and their staff. Both events were well received by the school and the intention is to repeal them again in 2024. Al the end of the summer term a holiday club was held in the church 8nd garden. Over the week 80 children attended. This culminated with a seThicY on the Sunday when the whole Congregation could join in the fun and acttvities of the week. Following this event Kate look some of the young people to Satellites, a Christan Youth Event held at the Bath and we￿ Showground over 5 days. Accesslblo Groups The Ten10 group meet regutsrly in the Sports Hall and provides games and refreshments for Ihose with learning dtffiCu￿￿s. The Discipleship group continues lo provide bible study and prayer., this meets once a month. The Accessible seryices continue to be well supported and are run in conjunction with other churches in the a￿. Page 4

Care and Support ChrIst￿n love and care throughout the ￿￿ek continues to be demonstrated regularty through the connect gfOUPS and pastoral sup￿rt. A Coffee Morning is held regularly and this year a short Carol Service was organised for those attending the coffee moming. Communlty Café This is a new venture for the church and meets on a Wednesday aftemoon. 11 provides a warm space, tea, coffee and light refreshments for anyone in the commursrty. This has been used by the mums and ￿re1$ when they collect their children from school as well as other members of the community. There are plans to run a similar café on a Tuesday morning when people come lo visrt the Food Larder. Thè Ashley Hub The Hub continued on a Tuesday moming with staff from the Infants schcol facilitating a frEndty welcoming place for famil*s lo meel, chal and gel advi￿. Their vision is to support families wrth children from O 10 19 to build a brighler future. This has Ined a different approach foi the autumn tefm wrth more outside input but has now decided to stop at the end of 2023. There are ￿an$ for a monthly group to support parents of children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabililiesl lo be run by the church. The free Baby Massage group will continue lo be offered by the church. Mlnlstry The Church continues to reach beyond the Sufrounding area of Ashl&y by 8ssi$ling, on regular basis, other smaller Churches in Ihe area. We continue lo support financially Baptist Home Mission and the Baptist Missionary Society, Opefalion Mobilisalion IOM}. Hope Now. Further afield. Ashley Baplist Chuich has maintained strong links with Churches in Bulgaria, Moldova and the Ukraine. Club$ We continue lo offer activities during the week for church folk and for members of the communty. These include a Sewing Group. Badminton and Basketball. Oth•r Comrnunlty Actlvltl•• The Food Rescue Kitchen are using our prernises to prepare cakes and meals for those in need with food that the supermarkets are disposing of due lo reaching their sell by date. As well as these items of repurposed food going lo the local food bank the Coffee Morning and The Ark have been able to make use of the cakes at their activities. Our Church car pafk continues to be available during the week for the parents of a local school during lem time and some ot￿r local businesses, relieving congestion on the local roads. The Car Pafk is also used by a Mobile Food Larder. This visits each week with both fresh and dried food prOV￿ed by Fareshare. This 15 open to any local residents who require additional food but whose budget currentPy does not allow it. This also run$ during the School Holidays. Page S
