Report of the Trustees for the Year Ended 29 June 2025
The trustees who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act 2006, present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 29 June 2025. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and aims
The principal objective of the charity is to provide opportunities for children and young people to participate in organised grassroots football within a safe, inclusive, and community-focused environment.
The charity promotes:
Participation in healthy recreation
Equal opportunities in sport
Development of football skills across all age groups
Strong safeguarding and welfare standards
In setting objectives and planning activities, the Trustees have given due regard to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit.
Significant activities
Growth and Participation
During the reporting period, the club has grown significantly and now operates 52 teams.
A key development has been the expansion of the girls' section from 9 teams to 15 teams, reflecting the club's continued commitment to increasing female participation in football.
To support this growth, the charity has:
Increased Welfare Officers to three
Expanded the Club Secretary function to three roles:
One dedicated to the girls' section
Two supporting the boys' section
Appointed a Head of Development to enhance participation for 4-6 year olds
Appointed a Head of Girls' Section to strengthen the female football pathway
The Executive Committee has also been strengthened by the addition of two new volunteers (one male and one female), further supporting diversity and inclusive governance.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Public benefit
In setting plans and priorities for areas of work, the trustees of Newcastle City Juniors FC Sports Club Limited have had guidance from the Charity Commission on the provision of public benefit. In particular, the trustees consider how planned activities contribute to meeting the objectives set. How the charity delivers its principle charitable activities, as set out in its Memorandum and Articles of Association, is demonstrated in the objectives and aims statement above.
Volunteer and Coaching Development
The expansion in team numbers has required a corresponding increase in volunteer coaches and support staff. The charity has funded:
Coaching qualifications
Safeguarding and welfare certifications
Required training courses
Coaching kit and essential equipment
This investment ensures continued compliance with safeguarding standards and maintains quality coaching provision.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Financial Review
The growth in participation has resulted in increased operational expenditure, including:
Additional training facility hire
Increased provision of matchday kit (supplied by the club)
Winter training costs rising to approximately £15,000
Increased utility costs
To assist in meeting these financial pressures:
Monthly player subscriptions were increased to £34 per month
The charity delivered three major fundraising events, including evenings with:
Kevin Keegan
Les Ferdinand
These events collectively raised approximately £15,000, making a significant contribution toward operational sustainability.
The Trustees continue to carefully monitor expenditure and maintain prudent financial oversight to ensure long-term stability.

FUTURE PLANS
Facilities and Lease
The charity is currently in discussions with Newcastle City Council regarding an extension of the lease on its facilities.
With 7 years remaining, the Trustees are seeking to secure a 35-year lease extension, which would provide long-term security and enable strategic planning and investment in facilities.
Looking ahead, the charity aims to:
Continue expanding grassroots participation
Further strengthen the girls’ section
Increase engagement at foundation age groups (4-6 years)
Deliver additional fundraising events
Secure long-term lease stability
Maintain high safeguarding and governance standards
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
The charity is managed by its Board of Trustees, supported by an Executive Committee and a team of volunteers.
The Trustees meet regularly to review:
Financial performance
Safeguarding compliance
Strategic planning
Operational development
The expansion of committee roles during the year reflects the growth of the organisation and supports effective governance.
