Aims and purposes
St. Augustine's PCC has Ihe responsi￿lIty of oFoperating ¥￿th Ihe incumbenl in promoting in the
ecclesiastical parish the whole mission of the chuich, pasloral, evangelists"c, social and ecumenical. The
PCC is also responsible lor the maintenance ol Ihe St. Auguslirhe's chuith building.
Objg¢tNes and activities
As a church, we have made four key commitmenis.. lo pray regularfy for others in Ihe locality.. to invite local
people who are not yet part of a church famity into the lives ol indwidual ¢hur¢h members and of the
church. to give our money to God's mission and minislry in Hight#Jry, and lo serye by using our time and
our talents lo help others both inside and outside the churth lafflify. IP. I. G. S.)
We are committed lo being part ol God's justice IoG3lly and globalty. to nurturing children and young people
in their relationship wilh God. whilst developing tn¢reasingly strong safeguarding practs'ces. to growing our
life wilh God as a whole church family. and lo sharing Ihe love ol Gcxl and the good news of Jèsus Christ
with our lamilies, colleagues. neighbours and friends. We also want lo develop our ohurch butlding to be
conducive to worship and WKler aclivitres.
When planning our aclivibes for the year, the incumbenl and Ihe PCC have considered the Charity
Commission's guidance on public benefit and. in part￿Ular, the sperAfic guidance on charities lor the
advancement ol religion. In particular, we ty to enabje people lo live out Iheir laith as part of our p8rish
eommunity through worship ar￿ prayer. leaming aboul the Good News of Jesus, and provision of pastoral
care for people livir)g in the parish.
Achievemenls and performance
Pray
As a church community prayer has continued to be a critical part of our shared life together in 2025. The
prayer life ol the church is expiessed in numerovs drflerent ways. On Sundays. we hav8 continued to meet
lor informal prayer before the 10.30am morning servi￿. and Ihen through liturgy. song. intercession and
prayer ministry. prayer has been an important ingredient ol ihe 10.30am Sunday morning setvice ilsell. In
2025, we also conlinued lo gather fot a 12.30pm Cornmunion seNice. which prayer is central to. In 2024,
there has been a weekly prayer gathering on Tuesilays online on Zoom, plus Life groups meeting on
weekday evenings to explore Ihe Scriptures togethei and lo pray. A wee￿Y prayer diary was also prodU￿d
in 2025 through our Welcome and Prayer Sheet publication, as well as an etnail ministry encouraging
church family to pray, called 'The Prayer Network.. Player triplets were also encouraged. helping church
fatnily lo invest in prayerful, strengthening and accounlaNe ￿lationShIpS with each other. 'StAC Kids, for
children aged 3-13 and 'StAC Youth. for young people of secondary school age continue(S lo be places for
growing the prayer lives of children and young people. 'SIAC Creche. for 0-2 yeaf olds led rnonthly, also
encouraged prayer and worship amon9sI the very yovThJest in our church family. Collective worship and
prayer continued lo be led monthly for the whole sch￿1 at one ol our local Church ol England primary
schools. throughout the year. In March, to help us in prayer, we undertook a last lor the 40 days of Lent,
lasting from 9am-Spm. The church 5taft team also Met each week to pray throughout the year. Throughout
2025 our bi-monthly 9.30am SerV￿e especially for young families called Bubble Church. gathe¥ed children
and adults to pray and lo worship. Children's lilurgy, extemporary prayef. sung worship, and 'The Thank
You Slot. all sliongly contributed lo the centrality of prayer at Bubble Church. In 2025 we continued to
encourage fegular prayer lor our neighbour5." Ihe residenis ol the Park View Estate and Athenaeum Court.
and 311 Ihose connected with Highbury Quadrant Primary School, as well as for Highbury New Park and the
Highbury Estate. We also continued to run StAC Tots in 2025, a Ir88 Stay & Play event on Wednesday
mornings for parenlslcarers and their children aged 0-3. The StAC Tots team mel to pray weekly for the
young families ol StAC Tots and in Ihe neighbourhwd. and also led short times ol prayer and praise during
the StAG Tols event ilsell.

The average Sunday in person altendance Imeeiing physicalty in Ihe churd) building) in 2021 was 34.4
adults and 9.7 children.
In 2022. our average Sunday in person attend8nce rose lo 48 adults and 23 children.
In 2023. our average Sunday in person aEtenilance rose lo 63.6 adults and 30.8 children.
In 2024, our average Sunday In person attendance rose to 69.8 adults and 32.7 children.
In 2Q25, our averagè Sunday In person attendance fell lo 66.3 adults and 28.8 childr8n.
Our elecloral roll had 101 mernbers in 2025. an increase of 11 from the previous year.
As well as our monthly 9.30am yovng families service called Bubble Church, our weekly 10.30am service,
and our 12.30pm Communion servits on Sundays. other activrts.es and inwtatsonal opportunities in 2025
included ￿[e Groups Ifor f8llowship. Bible study and prayer). a tree weekly Community Warm Sp8¢8. StAC
Youth for young people aged 11-18, SIAC Kids for children aged 3-13. StAC Creche for 0-2 year olds, a
weekly online prayer gathering, Baptisms, a free Community Fcth1 Bank, assemblies al Sl John's Highbltry
Vale Primary School. a Christmas children's nativrty by the local Monte550ri Nuisery, attending the New
Wine churches Summer festival. Christmas carol seThices. a Go(Id Friday breakfast. Slepney @ Prayer
events, Quiz Night Fundraise¥s. Bring & sha￿ community B￿akfaS1$ throughout Ihe year. a church family
picnic in July, and an online S(ience & Faith event in November.

Financial giving during 2025 t()talled £130.948. This total includes £48,943 of grants.. £48,308 from
Cloudesley for bijilding repairsldevelopmenl arhd £635 trom BLsbble Chvrch Central for 8 puppet screen.
Iwe also received £17,800 in Gift Aid). Financial giving during 2024 lotalled £131.918. This total indudes
£34,103 of grants." £32,803 from Cloud851ey loi building ￿pai[SId&ve10pment, £500 from The Cripplegale
Foundation for StAC Comffluntty Warm Space and £800 from olher grants. Iwe also received £15,928 in
Gift Aid).
In addition, the parish has been richly blessed by Ihose who give their time and lalents As a consequence
ol thi5. land God's gracell, the various adivities outlined elsewhere have been wssible. This year, via our
community F￿d Bank we continued donating food and toiletries to Ihose in real need, struggling to make
ends meet. We also ran a Communily Wami Space Ihroughout 2025,opening up our church building to
provide a heated environment where conversab"orh, community, Io(Kl and drink are 8voil8ble free of chaige,
serving particulady those in our neighbourhotyj who a￿ struggling wth Ihe cosl of living challenge.
In 2025 work with chIld￿n and young pe¢)ple remajned a very imptsrtant part of the ministry ol St.
Augustin8'S. With StAC Creche. StAC Kids. StAC Youlh. Bubble Churrh arKI school assemblies (all
nientioned abovel playing a very significant rde in this area of minislry.
In 2025, as well as mnning Reuse Sundays where people give and share quality second-hand 9oods to

sacrélicially lo church life. mission and ministry. for the sake of growing God's kingdom in Highbury and
beyond.. their contribution has been absolutely invaluable. A huge Ihank you lo everyone who has setved

In 2025 we received a new Ministry Asslstant in the fom ol a Titlle lor God voluni8er from Hungary. who
joined us for acadernic year 202512026. serving across many areas of church arid parish life. Their
contributions have made a huge difference both lo individuals and to groups. and this would not have been
possible wilhout Ihe provision ol È home for them Ihiough the giving and htsspitality ol our church family.
We also wnlinued lo be blessed by our Curate & Assistant Pastor in 2025 who has served in a significant
number of different ways across church and parish lile. as well as training fw ordained ministry. Again,
w¢thout the financial generosity of our church family, it would not have been possible for us to hosl and train
a Curatè.

installed solar panels on the roof of i)ur church building. we have converted exisling lighting in parts of the
church building Isuch as the Church Lounge and Hall) lo mre energy effluent lighting with help from
lighting specialist CES. and we have also changed (yjr healing in the Hall frorn ord storage heaters Iwhich
were ener9y inefficient and expenswe lo run) lo radiant heating panels. We worked with Solray Heating
and the team at London Diocese to athieve this. In 2022. we successfully applied for a grant from
Cloudes1ey lo help pay lor the lightirhg in our main church space lo be changed lo more energy efficient
lighting. We began woth with CES on designs in 2022 and conlr.nued this work Ihroughout 2023. The
energy effic4enl lighb'ng tn our main church space was installed and completed in 2024. In 2025, we
converted from having one central ga5-powered hot water heater. to localised p(*nt of use electric water
heaters, which now provide hot water across the church building. Our electriaty supplier is Ecotricity.

We are very grateful for God's incredible generosity lo us in the church's finances, and for the continuing
faithful giving of church members. The use of the Parish Giving Scheme as a means of giving by numerous
church members has been very important for us, not least because this ha5 made the Gift Aid claim5101
those who have joined the PGSI mtjch faster and easier lor us. as well as providing a better, more secure
and fflore reliable way of giwng than wilh cash. cheque 01 standing or(¢er.

Reserves polley
11 is PCC policy lo maintain a balance on free reserves that equate5 to approximately four rnonlhs

fluctuations in cash flow and to meet emergencies e.g. unexpecled building repaits.

metMber5 elected by those members of the congregalicy) who are on the elecloral roll ol Ihe chuich. and
sometimes co-opted members. All Ihose who attend our servi￿5 and members of the congreg8tlOn are
encouraged to register on the Electoral Roll and to consider standing for election to the PCC.
The PCC members are responsible for making deci8ions on all maltern of general concem and importance
to the parish including deciding on how the funds of the PCC ale to be spent. The full PCC met regularly
