Swarkestone Cricket Club
Trustees Annual Report, 1st October 2023 to 30th September 2024
Registered Charity Number 1132660
THE PURPOSES OF THE CLUB ARE THE PROMOTION OF COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION IN HEALTHY RECREATION FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE INHABITANTS OF SWARKESTONE AND THE SURROUNDING AREA BY THE PROVISION OF FACILITIES FOR PLAYING CRICKET.
The monies raised by charitable donations in the last 12 months are to be used for supporting club development.
The club continues to provide facilities for cricket to all ages and members of the community. Our Junior section continues to be a strong community from a diverse range of backgrounds and abilities with inclusive cricket available from ages 8 to 19. Our Women’s and Girls section builds year on year and now have a competitive hardball team
The club has raised funds to support the community participation including the annual Golf Day which had excellent support from club members. We also offer our pavilion for hire for functions to the local community which lacks another facility to use. The pavilion was once again the Polling Station for the village of Swarkestone this year.
Volunteers continue to run and maintain the general fabric of the club. In the financial period the club has secured a number of Grants, which supplemented by partial match funding and an ECB loan will enable investment in a number of development projects. Installation of a new non-turf playing surface and replacement non-turf practice nets will allow greater numbers of player to access playing and coaching facilities with less effect by the weather and reduced burden on volunteer groundstaff. A new floodlight on the car park has been installed and further improvements are planned to the surface making access and egress from the club safer for all visitors. It is expected that these facilities development projects will be completed in the financial year 2024/25 in line with Grant covenants.

.S_wa.Ek.e_slotLe_C ricJgot£L.LL 02 th QA The accounts forthe period showed a closing bank balance of £56,364.30 at 30th September 2024. This figure was considerably inflated by an ECB loan of £20,000 and various grants totaLLing £17,611.84 secured bythe club to renew and develop.the practice facilities, an artificialwicket and access track to the ground. The Loan is an interest free Loan repayable over 5 years and was received in August 2024. The balance within the club after adjusting these extraordinary items of £37,611.84 is an adjusted bank balance of £18,752.46 which shows a healthy increase in funds from an openingfigure of £6,350.80 a surplus of £12,401.66 Post the year end significant work was carried out at the ground to improve the facilities and this was covered by the loan and grants received before and after the year end. I confirm that the figures have been checked by myself and show a true and fairview of the financial activities of Swarkestone Cricket Club for the year.
