## LLAN MINISTRY AREA ## **MINUTES OF THE MINISTRY AREA ANNUAL REVIEW** ## **HELD IN ST. ILLTUD’S LLANTWIT FARDRE** ## **12[TH] MAY 2022** 1. Lay Chair report – Gareth was pleased to report that he had managed to visit 11 of the 12 churches in the MA and had received a warm welcome, hoping to be able to visit Gilfach Goch soon. All are encouraged to visit other churches and attend their services so that we can all get to know one other which in turn will help us work together. The team from Tonyrefail will be filming their next online service from St Illtud’s Llantwit Fardre and will be visiting other churches in due course. Discussions have taken place regarding placing Defibrillators in or near some of the churches in the MA; First Aid courses are also planned. It is encouraging to see congregations working together and cooperating in various events. 2. A video presentation of the previous year in the MA was shown; this included events, services and celebrations from across the area. Fr Vincent’s report - Annual Vestry meetings are different now in the setting of Ministry Areas, the new annual meetings are more of a review of the year. In the future the MAC Annual Review invitations will go out not just to all the MA congregations but also to people in the community; to involve everyone in looking back on the year that has passed but also to look ahead and discuss what the vision for the MA is for the future. In terms of how the leadership of the MA is organised; instead of being Clergy run as in the parish system, the Lay Chair is the lead in the new regime. It is intended that local churches will run themselves as part of the MA. Fr Vincent thanked all who help to run the churches and the Clergy team who have worked so well together to keep everything running. Rick has been with us for 11 months and has fitted in well, he always seems to have the right word at the right time and his wealth of life experience is extraordinary and makes him a valuable member of the team, he should be with us for at least the next two years and hopefully we may be able to keep him as part of the team after that. We are looking forward to a time of fun and fellowship where churches can flourish and people will know we are Disciples of Christ by the way we love each other. Curate -Fr Rick’s report – Being part of Llan Ministry Area has been a blessing, some highlights include whisky tasting and many breakfasts. Having gone around the area visiting all the churches he has found out what everyone does and all the work that goes on behind the scenes is very much appreciated. The support from everyone after his mum passed away has been meant so much to him and his family and especially to his dad. The alpacas visit to Llanharry church hall was an event not to be forgotten, seeing so many families turning up was a joy, showing that church can be a fun place. We look forward to a time of flourishing, with fun events so we can move forward, cross boundaries, go to other churches, grow together and go forward together.
