Tliis year the project has to support young people through delivery of group work prOj￿ts and one to one
rllelltoriDg and tutoring.
Proje£ts that w¢ have delivered over the year ro March 2025 have iDcluded:
Weekly Drop In sessiony
The BM.EYPP Wedllesday drop-in session% have continued ro be a safe space for young people io cO￿e ID relax, tt]eet
with triellds and take part in a variety of infonnal education acrivilies. "These have included gvames evenings,
evenings, multi-cultural food co¢Jking and cultural evening. We have orw)ised ivorksbops, drtun￿g, arts attd ¢rAts.
We bave provided spaces for yOUDg people to share their experiences and supported young people io develop resilience.
The young people had opportunilies to intrtt with their peers, the youih workers and volunteers, which enabled thern
to acLess inforniotion, support and advice, and to make heajthy and empowerAllgY new, friendships.
BMEYPP Holhday Actlvltles
We bave continued lo receive funding from Brighton aod Hove Ciiy CouDciI Holiday Activities and Food Progrftmme,
which have enabled us tu deliver pr￿Vra￿￿eS of trip5 and days out during the spriDg: summer and winter holidays. Th¥
actlVLties included archery, paddleboardin& go-karting, picnics in the park, and 5wimmin& adventurous ￿tiVitIeS and
various walk and talk sessions. These sessions have enabled to deliver packed lunches aiid hot meals to YOU￿ people
during the hojidays.
Young people have lold us that they have taken part in neiv activities which have helped them w feel more confident irl
tli¢mselves aDd helped them to make new friends.
Transilions Projeet
We l)8ve colltinued to deliver the traDSitions project. which supports young people who are transitioning frojn PTim&ry
to secondary education {Y¢aT 6 to Year 7). Y1)￿th WOTkers have delivered workshops wilh 2 primary schoDI students in
East Brigbton, addressiDg hopes aDd lears of starting secondary educalioJL The issues raised and discus5cd with young,
people hav¢ included getting lo, frotn and around bchooL bullying, copiDbw will) hotn¢i¥rt building relati0118 WLt
tearbei's and other school staff, making uew friLnds and support available in secondary scbools. Youos po>oplv bavo had
pportunities lo meet and develop relaTiollships with older buddies during the sun]mer activities, who havo been able to
PTovide infomiation and giv¢ advice to young people about coping at Se￿ndary school.
Work In Secondary School
The BMF.YPP bas been delivering groupw0￿ with students of Colour in a local Second￿ schwl. Tbe group has
provided a safe %pace for young people to disc￿$5 issues they experience a5 Black and Brown young people. The tOPLCS
discuss¢d have in¢luded peTh)nal aW￿rn￿S, cultural and religFiOUS idenliri¢5, including learning about different cultures
nd religion5, social media and role models. polirics and votin& bullying and racisllL Yoltng peopl¢ I￿ve talkod about

Melanin Shoul
The BMEI?P bas setup a neiv project w0￿1n8 with younb Black and Racially Minoritised young people with care
experience. We have or¥anised a Caribbean Cook OUL 1¢¢ skatillrt and restaurant trips, and a day dedicated to Black Ilair
eare. YoLLng people have been sharin&r their e4Kriences of the care systern and ways iii whicb they can be better
supported.

Financial position

Rescrves policy
The Black and Minority Ethnic YouDu Peoples Project is a small voluntary seclor Owlsatio￿ fundraising year round
for staff costs and rnsources to its projects and etnploving full-time development worker and a team ot part time
youth 14'ork¢rs. 'fhe organisation has plans to expand in the next y¢ars, enwloying new staff, moving to n#w
premises and expaDdirAg the level ot"activities and projects.
The Black and Minority Ethnic Youn- Peoples Project bas developed a small reserve, which is COiL8idered a free reserve
for use as a contingency and dLbveIopu￿ot fjjnd. Tii parricuiar. wben suitable pren)ises are seeured part of the reserve will
be used to 50Y set up cosls and initial rul￿1￿8 costs for tht new premise5, whilst projexts are being developed and
ndingT can be applied fro￿ project grants.
Tbe Bla¢k and Minority Ethnic Young Peoples Proje¢t recognise5 the importaDce of a rnC￿est re8¢rve to ensure the
sustainability of the organisation against I0&8 Ot" income, and the ability io fulfil obligations to staff in regard to
redUnd￿1¢Y and sick leave enlitlements. To this end the organi5atioD aims to acCU￿Ul￿e and n￿l￿taLlI a reserve of thr¢e

FUTURE PLANS
The YPP is currently focussed on finding llew premises t.or the organisalion. This is the priority foy the coming
year as it will provided all adminisiralive and delivery, base where youth work can be undertaken wilh young people.
