LINCOLN & LINDSEY BLIND SOCIETY Report of the Trustees For the year ended 31 March 2025 Structure, Governance and Management Governing Document The cha rity is controlled by its governing document, a deed of trust, a nd constitutes a limited company, limited by guarantee, as defined by the Companies Act 2006. The charity is an incorporated company limited by guarantee and controlled by Its Memorandum and Article5 of Association IM&A'sl, The society was originally established in 1921 and incorporated in July 2009. Organisational Structure Overall control is exercised by the Trustees who form the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee consists of not less than 3 and not more than 18 members. One third of the Trustees are subject to retirement by rotation at the Annual General Meetlng each year, The Executive Commlttee met 4 times durlng the last year. They were supported bythe Finance and General Purp05e5 Sub-committee. The head office, Bradbury House, is the admlnistratlve base. The day-to-day actlvltles include the provision of a resource centre, soclal clubs in hlred premises, a Talking News and transcrlblng servlce, a befriending service managed by Volunteer Co-ordinators, IT training and a team.of five Sight lrnpairment Officers who support the clients in their own homes. Many volunteers help with the activities as well as the befriendlng service, Management is delegated to a Chief Executive and volunteers are managed by the Volunteer Co-ordinators. The Tru5tee'5 investment power5 are prescribed in the Society's governing document. The Trustees are permltted to invest any monies of the charity not Immediately required for it5 purpose in or upon such investments, securities o r property as the Executive Comm ittee shal I think fit and is allowed by law, The Trustees have mai ntained the Investment portfol lo th roughout the year with the assistance of i nvestrne nt advisors. It dlscharged this responsibility through its annual Risk Management Audit. This is deslgned to support informed decision making regarding risks that affect the charlty'5 performance and its ability to achieve its objectives. It also provides for a consistent approach to identifying, assessing and dealing with the risks facing Lincoln and Lindsey 81ind Society, It should be noted that the audit is designed to m anage, rather than eli mi nate, the risks to the charity's objectives and to provlde reasonable, but not absolute, assurance against material misstatement or loss. To achieve the objects of the Society we employ domlcillary visitors to enable our clients to lead as independent and fulfilling lives as possible. Social clubs and a befriendlng service are established throughout the area to provide social i nteractlcn and actlvities. Significant activities Throughout the three local authority areas, across 1600 square miles,. we have provided information, support and asslstance vio our Sight Impairment Officers on an Individual basis 1692 times this year. Over 76% of our total client group of 1556 are over 65, many experlence other disabilitles which, when added to sight loss, can be debilitating. Completing salary reviews to ensure we help to meet the needs of our staff. Developing the strategy and forward plannlng of the Scciety. Putting in place a ccntlnguency plan for the Society. Ensurlng a I l insurances are In place to protect the Society's assets and resources. Recruitment of Trustees with lived experience. Wellbelng and workloads of Staff. The itnplementation of a contract with Focus Independent Adult Social Work to provide assessments for visually impaired people in North East Lincolnshlre. Page 4

In some cases It is the family of the blind or partially sighted person who needs advice and assistance and they will also work with them. Benefit Advlce The benef it advice se rvice removes the ba rriers a nd difficulties, both menta l a nd physical, that visually i mpa ired people face in claiming benefits to which they are entitled, as soon as possible after diagnosis. Our speclali5t advisor5 vlslt v15ually impaired people In thelr own hornes. They provide Welfare Benefits advlce and informatlon, help complete applications for a range of In-work and out-of-work beneflt5, and provide advocacy and representatlon at appeal. Befriending Service Volunteers provide a befrlending servlce to our cllents, under the supervlslons of our Volunteer Co-ordinatars. We currently have clients matched with volunteer5 on a one to one basis, engagln8 In various activities such as walking, swlmming, shoppin8 and Social visits, the volunteers also provide telephone support. We have clients and volunteers attending groups and the activitles they take part in include reading, carpet bowls, ten pin bowllng, craft, rambling, gardening and games. Talklng Newspapers Volunteers produce the Louth Leader, Skegness Standard, Lincolnshire Echo, Grimsby Telegraph and Gainsborough Standard as a Talking Newspaper weekly, which is sent out to members referred by Sight Impairment Officer5, We also provide information regarding local talking newspapers for other areas. IT Project We run the IT project to provlde a basic understandlng of tablets and smart phones, Trainlng sessions are usually on a one-to-one basis with volunteers who understand visually impaired people's needs. Resource Centre We provide a Resource Centre in Louth where advice and information can be found and equipment seen and tested. We can supply a variety of specialist equipment, including daily living aids, talking clocl<s, watches and garNes, etc. Financlal Revlew Funding for objectives comes from a number of sources as set out in the statement of fina ncial activities, which the Trustees continue to look to develop. After taki ng account of the tanglble fixed assets wh ich total £ 153,422 and designated fund5 of E8,696 the free reserve5 of the Society as at the 31st March 2025 amounted to £237,287. Asset cover for funds The balance sheet sets out an analysis of the assets attributable to the va rious f unds and description of the trust5. These assets are sufficient to meet the charity's obligations on a fund by fund basi5. Future Developments We wlll continue our fundraising efforts towards the funding and development of our services, Continuation and development of the befriending service. .We wlll continue to develop worl<ing relatlonships with other societies to obtain the services required for our clients, to be able to respond to their changing needs, Prcvlsion of equipment and technology, changing with the needs of the people we serve, Work with our Publlclty Co-ordinator, to ralse awareness of the Scclety, ensuring we meet the needs of visually impaired people in our area, Regularly reviewing our Staffing structu re to ensure it meets the needs of ou r clients. Implementation of a strategy and contingency plan to ensure all of our services continue to meet the ever changing needs of the Society and especiallyvisually impaired people. Page 6

Statement of Compllance The financial statements have been prepared In accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charltles: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charlties preparlng their accaunts in accordance with the Flnancial Reporting Standard applicable in the Ul< and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 leffective l January 20151 (Charities SORP IFRS 10211, the Financlal Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic af Ireland IFRS 1021 They also comply with the Cornpanies Act 2006 and Charities Act 2011, Basis of Preparation Llncoln & Lindsey Blind Society meets the definition of a public benefit entlty under FRS 102, Assets and l iabi l iti es are initial ly recognised at historica I cost o r tra nsaction va lue unless otherwise stated i n the releva nt accounti ng policy notes, The fina ncial statement5 are presented in pou nd sterling a nd are rounded to the nearest pound. The majority of costs are di rectly attrlbuta ble to specific activities, Governance costs Governance costs represent costs that are attributable to the management of the charity's assets, organisatlonal administration and compliance with constitutional and statutory requirements. An estimate of the financial costs of the employee time on governance has been attributed to governance costs. Allocation and apportlonment of costs In undertaking the charita ble actlvlties there have been Support costs I ncurred that, wh ilst necessa ry to delive r a n activity, do not themselves produce or constitute the o utput. Investments Investments have been classif led as fixed assets where it is the intention of the soclety to retain them for more than one year. They are included in the balance sheet at cost value plus attributable interest receivable, where a pplicabl e. All realised gains and losses have been included in the Statement of Financial Activitie5 Golng concern The financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basi5. The trustees asse55 whether the use of going concern is appropriate i.e, whether there are any material uncertainties related to events or conditions that may cast significant doubt on the ability of the charity to continue as a going concern.
