The Parochial Church Council of the Ecclesiastical Parish of St. John the Evangelist, Carrington Financial review The PCC approved a deficit budget for 2023 planning to increase activities and catch up wrth maintenance after the pandemic. While we did not reach the planned deficit of £17k our underlying financial position deteriorated. The deficit was masked by additional 'one off income from a backdated Gift Aid claim (c£6k) a grant from the DI0Se Ic£4k) and a legacy (£1k). Our expenditure was less than expected because there were 2 months when we did not pay our Parish Share {c£5k) and a significant utilities bill (c£5k) fell into 2024. The charlty's policy on reserves The PCC'S policy is to have sufficient funds to meet financial commitments for a minimum of 3 months. Financial rlsks Following the quinquennial inspection in 2023 we have a better understanding of the backlog of maintenance that is required. The PCC is in the process of identfying priorities and costs, as well as the availability of grants. Our routine expenditure exceeds our income and clearly this cannot continue. While there is some limrted scope for managing cost, in 2024 the PCC will launch a funding campaign to increase regular giving as well as promoting the use of our rooms and reviewing our charges.
