## **Objectives and activities** 

The principal aim of the organisation is to promote in the ecclesiastical parish the whole mission of the Church. 

## **Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit** 

Weekly Sunday services, occasional additional services, weddings and funerals, weekly community café. 

The public benefit from: 

- the church mission, baptism, wedding and funeral services; 

- links with local schools and the residents' association; 

- the availability of community rooms for events, classes and meetings; 

- the churchyard for relaxation and exercise; 

- the maintenance of a listed building; 

- the use of the building as a polling station for elections. 

## **Public benefit statement** 

The Trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty in section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit, 'Charities and Public Benefit'. 

## **Summary of the main achievements during the period** 

- Opened up the Church for public services again after COVID lockdown; 

- Appointed a new Priest in Charge; 

- Weekly Sunday Eucharist with additional services for specific occasions; 

- Weekly community café; 

- Community rooms and buildings used for a range of community activities and community events. 

## **The charity’s policy on reserves** 

The trustees recognise their responsibility to employees and the community. They have determined to adopt the advice of the diocese to maintain three months of general income as reserves.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of The Parochial Church Council of the Ecclesiastical Parish of St. John the Evangelist, Carrington (the charity) for the year ended 31 December 2022. 

## **Responsibilities and basis of report** 

As the trustees of the charity you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’). I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

## **Independent examiner’s statement** 

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: 

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or 

2. the accounts do not accord with those records. 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

During this period as a trustee (until 24/04/22), S Hooper received £475 remuneration as Church Organist. 

During this period, a trustee K Randell received £725 remuneration as Parish Assistant. 

During this period, K Campbell received £200 remuneration for vicarage cleaning. 

During this period, a total of £112 was reimbursed to 2 trustees for travel expenses incurred.
