FABRIC, FURNISHINGS AND POSSESION Richard Ji)na.% All necessary annual servicing lo fi lighting, electrical equipment, electrical systems. including the lightning conductor have been completed by all the appropriate and certified companie5. The Terrier was fouiid to be iii order. General repairs have taken place. The cross oi.er the north porch has been refitted as it wa5 dislodged by the branches of the oak tree being blown in the gale. The oak tree has been pruned and the branches that had damaged thL North Porch have becn rcmovcd also a gcncral tidy up of the trcc was carried out with Ihc removal of dcad branchcs and th05c growing ovcr ncighbouring propcrty. Plan5 arc now in hand to rcdccoralc thc Hall walls and woodw'ork and an upgradc of thc kitchen arca. Ceiling lighting has now been upgradcd with LED lighting units. plus new digital switch gear. When these work5 are completed the floor covering will be replaLed as this was laid when the Hall opened and is shom'ing its age with staining and wear. Following ali inspection by ihe fire safely otTicer all shell'ing in Ihe cupboard has had lo be removed as this did not meet fire safely requirements as the main electrical melers are also in the cupboard. Addiiional Thork to refresh the walls in the church is also in hand as is sanding, sealing and refitiing loose wooden flooring blocks.To reduce our electrical surcharge the electrical capacity is being reduced from 150 amp hours to l 00 amp hours saving very considerable cost. The PCC 15 also invc5tigaiing the possibility of installing 501ar panels. BALANCE SHEET (+£32291) In credit because ofthe legacies. SUMMARY The PCC is working hard to reduce costs and chuwh rnembers are working hard to raise funds. It is clear that Shcringham can no longer continuc paying a full Parish Sharc by rcducing rc5crvcs. Thc gas boilcrs arc a prime example in that we did not have enough in reserves lo replace them. Going forward the PCC has agreed 10 set li balanced budgcl. SOCIETY OF ST LUKE +Julie SSL During the past year ihe Society of Si Luke (SSL) has held nine Quiet Mornings with Revd Christina Rees and Rcvd lain Grant bcing amongst our gucst spcakcrs. SSL has also run two rctrcats. Thc Socicty rcgularly has a stall at the book sales and for the first time rdn a stall at the November Artisan Market, w,hich proved a succe.88. These sales are highly valued not only for raising money - but as a wonderfi]l opportunity for outreach. 11 is envisaged that SSL follows a similar pattern of events over the next year. Finally, I'd like to thank the family of SÉ Peter's for all their prayers and support of our work. ANNA CHAPLAINCY Angela Siewarl I was commissioned as an Anna Chaplain in February 2025 al Candlemas. Anna Chaplains are named after the widow, Anna. who appear5 With Simeon in Si Luke's Gospel. Both are good role models of faithful older people. CONTEMPLATIVE PRAYER AND MEDITATION Toby Perks A small group of people from Si Peter's Church hai'e been gathering monthly for some time iiow, to pursue a contemplative practice of silence, siillness (In'ard and ouiward), seeking, and, eventually, praying together towards a deeper Spirial encounier and engagement wilh God as Father. Son, and Holy Spirit. We are also occasionally joined by Wayfarers from oiher churches in the area. It is important that we all understand that contemplative prayer is not an exclusive practice but rdther in some forni, or another. is within the gift and grasp olall olus who desire God's presenLe and purpose in our everyday lives. God in Christ has blessed us wilh every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms - so, li is for us lo believe and lo actively seek io enjoy and utilise them! An ancient and well-tried pathway towards ihal goal is Ihrough contemp1alle prayer and silenl waiting. ST PETER'S CHOIR AND MUSIC DEPARTMENT ChrislinL, FurnL'aux Music has ¢ontinued to be an important and integral part of worship throughout the year at St Peter's Church. The ¢hoir. although small in number. has sung regularly at morning services. Frorn May lo Oclober they also sang Choral Evensong once a month. Chris Fumeaux gained her gold RSCM award in May. Philip Adam% and Michael Finniss¢y on¢¢ again put on an excellent series of Saturday concerts in the summer which w'ere enjoyed by all who attended, in addition lo raising much needed funds for the church. The year ended with a busy lead-up to Christmas in which the choir participated in BBC Radio Norfolk's Annual Carol Service along w'ith choirs and musicians from Ihe Salvalion Am)y. Si Jobeph's Catholic Church and Sheringham Primary School. This seTr'ice was broadcast on Radio Norfolk on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. On Ihe Sunday 17 December Ihere was a very moving service of Nine Lessons and Carols. Sadly, wc said goodbyc to our Dircctor of Music. Philip Adams on Chri5tma5 Day. CHURCH CLEANING Carole Broadhead First of all, may I say a huge ihank you to those of you who came and helped wilh our 'Big Clean, in May and November. We accomplished so much in just a few hours. There are tasks like cleaning and polishing Wood,0rk and washing thc floor in the chanccl, making surc that all the chairs get a good brush down and sweeping the window ledges. As so few of the attendees are now able io read aloud due to failing eyesight and hearing, I read with a good loud voice and anyone with a Bible who is able to read follows in their own way. In June I turned to Provetbs 26 at random and began to rffdd out one verse at a time, with the group thinking aloud about what it might mean. FUNDRAISING AT ST PETER'S MEke Mdrshdll 2025 has been a brilliant year for fundraising for Si Peter's Church with monthly Book Sales and Coffee Mornings, Suppers Togcthcr, Raffles, Artisan Markets, refrcshements at conccrts and the wondcrful series of Afternoon Tea Concerts. None of Ihis would be possible wiihoul the exlremely hard work of all the voluleers who willingly h&ve given up their lime and provide refreshmants. We have been able to raise nearly £15.000. We have iiow established the markei as a regular eveni in ihe Sheringham Communiiy Calendar. aiiracting a high footfall of town residents and visitors into the chllh. With some comfortdble seating installed. an attractive reading area has been credted. Since last lime additional bookcases have been incorporated through the generosity of Carole Pennington. Take-up remains minimal and exlremely slow - on Sundays, al least. What use of Ihe library is made during the week is unknown, unless spotted, but not especially noted. on CCTV by Jenny in her otrice! That doesn't mean no-one is borrom'ing books. bul as we have an unmonitored. open access. the books are availablc to anyone when the church is open, seven days a week. no signing out, or any such policing practice. Impact Services, who were the main conlraclor al St Peter's Mancroft in Nonvich, proposed the largest scheme, in size, which included putting panels on the South facing roof of the main church building and provided illustrative costings based on work done within the Diocese. The other two COiT)panies.' Leaping Hare and Norfolk Renewablcs spcnt n]ore time considering hoiv to meet our specific needs, rcalising that wc arc unlikely lo be able lo get local planning pennission for the church roof and. concentrated on the potential using the church hall. They both made uselul verbal obsern'ations but have yet lo submit delailed schemes, unsurprisingly, as they are much srnaller organisations. One feature of the current electrical supply to the Church and Hall at St Peters that all of those conducting survcys wcrc conccrncd about was thc sizc of thc input {in amps) bccausc this would affcct our ability to export excess electrical generation and. potentially, obtain an additional revenue for so doing. This is also of great interest lo the PCC because we are currenily paying an excess consumption charge (in addition lo the APCM 2026 12
Charges for units consumed and slanding charges), which has been in place since the Church Hall was completed and currently costs over £300 per month. This allows us io drnm, up to 150 amps from the local grid but there is no clear evidence that we have a requirement that is as great as that. How'ever, our ciirrent investigations should lead to not only the removal of a burdensome and unnecessary rinancial outgoing but the potential thai we could choose to achieve eni'ironmental policy in alternative ways. such as purchasing ele¢tri¢ity and gas trom ¢xt¢rnal renewable resources. Each year the PCC adopt the Church of England Safeguarding policies for Vulnerable Adults and Children and Young People.
