2. Trustees, Report
Rectorfs Report
The Wychert Vale Benefice is made up of five parishes wlth six churches. These parishes
mainly function independently, serving thelr different communities, but there are some
activities that are carried out on a benefice-wlde basls. We have benefited from some
beautiful seasonal services being hosted in dlfferent churches in the benefice. There are
variou5 teams acros5 the benefice, like the ministry team, safeguarding team, finance team
and musicians who work across the benefice and share ideas and support on specific
aspects in the lives of our churches.
iv

Our Beneflce Office offers admlnlstratlve support to our churches. Enqulrles and all the
paperwork for occaslonal services Ibaptlsms, weddlngs and funerals) are ably dealt with by
Jan in the beneflce offlce.
At St. Marfs, we begin thls yearfs report by givlng thanks to God forthe way our church has
grown In 2025. It has been a dellght to welcome many new people to our church family, and
partlcularly those who are new to followlngthe way oljesus. Many of the new people have
brought gifts and skills to share, and It has been good to see new members on our PCC,
worshlpteam, flnance team, eventsteam, and pastoral care team.
This Influx of people ha5 enabled us totest ourvalue of 'extrava8ant welcome,, and l am
pleased to saythat the feedback from people's experlence ha5 been excellent. Part of our
approach thls year has been to ensure good processes for welcome, sharlng Infomiatlon
bout St. Marf5 through leaflets, a welcome team, follow up emall sent by our
churchwarden5, a visit by one of the minlstry team and some suggestions about how people
can seNe wlthin St. Marfs and In the community.
We have seen evldence of the aulet Revival at St. Marfs wlth people arrlvlng In church who
are new to falth and descrlbe a sense of wantingto goto thurch. Thls has been a dellght and
encouragement to the whole church. It has meant that we have had to revlew our
discipleship offering to ensure there Is sultable support for those wantlng to grow in faith.
This year, we have run a Start coursewith ourfr5ends at Haddenham Baptist Church and a
Prartislng the Way course. We have ¢ontlnued wlth our regular offerlng of seasonal courses
at Lent, this year wlth a course on Salvatlon. Our home groups have contlnued to thrive thls
year, and some are now at capaclty. Start the week offers a daytlme group drawn from
different churche5 In the vlllage studying Chrlstlan book5 and courses. Our chlldren and
young people groups now offer a range of ways for our younger members to be dlsclpled.
As part of our strategic plan, we welcomed a new assoclate minlster, Sue Hughes, in Julyto
lead on developing misslonal outreach to the new estates In the vlllage and support Cassa In
the minlstry work at st. Marfs. Sue has had an amazlng Impact In a 5horttlme, and we have
seen a new relatlonshlp wlth Haddenham Park Resldentlal Home wlth a weekly prayertlme
and Chrlstmas Carol Servlce, a Pop-up Café In the Airfleld pavlllon runnln8 fortnightlv
offerlng cornpanlon5hlp and communlty on Tuesday lunchtlmes, and she is workingwlth a
team on plans to start Bubble Church In the pavilion after Easter.
st. Marfs has contlnued to serve our communlty In many ways; through our schools, work
to all three schools In the vlllage wlth the Churche5 Together Open the Book team; our
Llghthouse Haddenham holiday club, Pltter Pattertoddlergroup and Monday Club for
seniors. We contlnue with local mi551on partnershlp5 wlth Sharin8 Llfe Food Bank and Hope
into Attion, the homeless housln8 charity. We continue to support partners In the wider
world such as the Malachl Project in Malawi, whlch contlnues to have a slgnificant Impact on
edu¢atlon in that country and DHF Cambodia whlch also belps wlth charitable work
indudlng education.
St. Mary's Is a famlly of people, made brothers and slsters In Jesus, sharing Ilfe together
followlng in HIS Way. We are a team of people In Christ who glve huge amounts of time and

energy to support God's mlsslon In ourcommunlty. I never￿aSe to be amazed by all that a
group of people seekingto make the love of Jesus known In thelrcommunity can do. Well
done and thank you all, all Iblg and small) thatyou do15 much appreclated and makes an
enomious difference.
