## TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO ASSOCIATION (UK) 

The management committee members who are also the directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act, present their annual report and the financial statements for the year ended 31st March 2021 

## STATUS 

The club is a registered charity with a company limited by guarantee status. The management committee confirm that the provisions of the charity's governing document have been complied with throughout the year under review.

## OBJECTS, ORGANISATION AND ACTIVITIES 

The charity is established to: 

- (a) assist members of the Association of Trinidad and Tobago origin to maintain contact with their country and with one another. 

- (b) promote Caribbean culture; to co-operate with all other organisations culturally, socially and educationally. 

- (c) _ assist in the promotion of Social welfare and Community relations. 

- (d) The Association is non-political, and shall hold no such affiliation. 

STATEMENT OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEMBERS' RESPONSIBILITIES The law requires us the management committee members to prepare the financial statements for each year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of its profit and loss for that period. In preparing the financial statements, we are required to: 

- (a) select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently through the years. 

- {b)} make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent.

- (c) _ state whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material departures that should be disclosed and explained in the financial statements. 

- (d) prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in business. We are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable us to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Companies Act 2006, We are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities should they exist. 

## FLXED ASSETS 

Details of any changes in the fixed assets are shown on the attached accounts. 

## REPORTING ACCOUNTANT 

Messrs Leroy Reid & Co have indicated their willingness to serve as Reporting Accountants and a resolution re-appointing them will be proposed at the annual general meeting.

## REPORT OF THE ACCOUNTANTS TO THE DIRECTORS ON THE UNAUDITED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO ASSOCIATION (UK) 

In accordance with the engagement letter dated 1st May 2009 and in order to assist you to fufill your duties under the Companies Act 2006, we have compiled the financial statements of the company which comprise the Income and Expenditure Account and Balance Sheet and the related notes from the accounting records and information and explanations you have given to us. 

This report is made to the Company's Board of Directors, as a body, in accordance with the terms of our engagement. Our work has been undertaken so that we might compile the financial statements that we have been engaged to compile, report to the Company's Board of Directors that we have done so, and state those matters that we have agreed to state them in this report and for no other purpose. To the fullest extent perinitted by law, we do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than the Company and Company's Board of Directors, as a body, for our work or for this report. 

We have catried out this engagement in accordance with technical guidance issued by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and have complied with the ethical guidance laid down by the Association relating to members undertaking the compilation of financial statements. 

You have acknowledged on the balance sheet your duty to ensure that the company has kept proper accounting records and to prepare financial statements for the year ended 31st March 2021 that give a true and fair view under the Companies Act 2006. You consider that the company is exempt from the statutory requirement for an audit for the period, 

We have not been instructed to carry out an audit of the financial statements, For this reason, we have not verified the accuracy or completeness of the accounting records or information or explanations you have given to us and we do not, therefore, express any opinion on the financial statements,

## The directors are satisfied: 

- (a) that for the year in question the company is entitled to the exemption from audit by Section 477(2) of Companies Act 2006 

- (b) that no notice has been deposited under Section 476 of the Act in relation to the 

   - accounts for the financial year 

- The directors acknowledge their responsibilities for: 

- (i) ensuring that the company keeps accounting records which comply with Section 386 of the Companies Act 2006, and

(a) BASIS OF PREPARATION OF ACCOUNTS The financial statements are prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities preparing their accounts in accordance with The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (Charities SORP FRS 102 and Charities Act 2011) Trinidad and Tobago Association UK constitutes a public entity as defined by FRS 102. 

- (b) INCOME AND EXPENDITURE Income is recorded on the cash basis whilst expenses are recorded on the accrual basis. 

- (c) DEPRECIATION Depreciation is provided at rates which are intended to write off the cost of the assets over their estimated useful lives. 

- (d) RESOURCES EXPENDED Expenditure is recognised on an accrual hasis as a liability is incurred. Expenditure includes any VAT which cannot be fully recovered, and is reported as part of the expenditure to which it relates: Direct Charitable expenditure comprises those costs incurred by the charity in the delivery of its activities and services for its beneficiaries. It includes both costs that can be allocated directly to such activities and those costs of an indirect nature necessary to support them. Governance costs include those costs associated with mecting the constitutional and statutory requirements of the charity and include the examiners’ fees and costs linked to the strategic management of the charity.
