The Charlty IMHCPCI was estabilshed to provfde or fadlftate e(kKatlon and tralnlrrd In psychotherapy and counselllng and the
rellef of Indlvlduals SLrffertng from emotp)nal dlffkultles by the pr￿slon of an affordable counselling 5ervtce through Its
Coun5dllng Referral Serytce ICRSI. Initial referra15 are made by both the NHS and from mental health oryan15atlons. Patlents
rnay a150 self refer.
Slnce its inceptlon, the CRS has seen numbers of requests for asses5rnents Increase year M year with a hlgh Lvtake of
referra15 rnade. Thls Increase Is expected to contlnue as NHS res￿￿5 are reduced. The Covld.19 pandernlc ha5 resulted in a
slgrtlficant Increase In the upcake of the seThlces provlde(I by the CRS. All cllnlcal work was dellvered remotely from Mach
2020 and the CRS began a phased return.to face.to.face co￿sellIng se5slon5 In J￿e 2021. All cllnlcal work Is now On￿ agaln
taking pla￿ on 51te.
Everyone referred to the CRS LmiJergoe5 an in.depth asse55ment wlth an experIen￿d psychotherap15t. The appllcant'5
emotlonal re50urce5 are carefully consldered and thelr flnanclal resources are addressed and taken Into account prlor to thelr
belng referred to a sultable therapl$t. The CRS is able to offer IrnY-c05t, on-golng pSychc￿YnarnlC counselllng, maklng referra15
to both experienced graduate5 of the training programme and Second and thlrd year Dlploma CrArse 5tudent5, who are
carefully supervlsed In preparatlon for ccrfnpietlon of the quallfylng Dipllvna Course. Th15 hès enabled the MHCPC to devel¢4) a
sectlon of the CRS into a separate ￿Jt Ilnked clinical placement wtthln whKh St￿lents are able to accrue suflldent supervt5ed
cllnlcal hour5 In preparatlon for wallficatlon. All of thls enyjres that the n*ds of the patlents are addressed, the standards
of the MHCPC are malntalned and the reWIren￿ntS of the Brltlth A550datlon for Counselllng and Psychotherapy IBACPI and
the Brltlsh Psychoanalytk Coundl IBPCI are fulfllied. Patlents a￿ inf¢Jmied at the a55e5sment Stage If they are to be referre¢J
to a senlor Student and the referral Is made only wlth the patlent'5 agreement. Referra15 continue to be made to graduates
and other experienced therapists when deemed apprnpriate and the acceptance of a referral incurs a fee paid to the Service.

Programme whkh attracts experferKed speakers and contlnue5 to offer an AJ)nual Lecture which 15 open to the public. The
fees for all courses are set only to cover operational exFenses which Includè tUt￿s. fees. Due to the co￿d-19 pandemlc, the
MHCPC tralnlng programme was dellvered remotely from March 2020. The I•HCPC returr*d to fate-to face teachlng In
September 2021. It has been agreed that the MHCPC will adopt a hytrldlblended approach to tralnlngi and all semlnars
take place on site. Graduates of the Dlpioma Course are nty4¥ worklng as CO￿sellOr5 In the communlty, In hospltals, mental
health agencles and GP surgerfes as well as ￿thIn the CRS.

It also has an establlshed counselllnq referral 5eryt￿ ICRSI referred to above. Students ènd graduate5 of the Dlploma Course
contlnue to prov6de ￿lular, on.goin8i SLY￿1$e￿ psycW)amlc coun5elllng for patient5, referred by the Prfmary Care and
Mental Health aqencles. This fadllty Is much appreciated by locjl GPS whose patlents are unable to alford help in the prlvate
sector and by other mental health agencles whose fundhg cuts have reduced thelr capaclty to meet the Individual'5 need for
open ended coun5dllng. Students recelve supeM5Ton of thelr cllnlcal work both In-house a5 pjrt of thelr tralnlng and post-

The Course Director together with the Board of Alanagthnent.are supported by an P￿erIenced Tutor team. Innovative ways of
ensurfng the continued developmw)t and success of the (ryanlsation continue to be explored and develcped. This include5
continuing to proytde a comprehensive trainlng programme indLKllng ￿ Dlplctha C￿￿Se Nthlch Is now accredited by both the
BACP and BPC.

The MHCPC has in the past had an e5tabii5hed afflllatkn with Bath Spa Unfjver5ity whereby some waduates have taken the
opportunlty to have direct entry to its Pl05ters programme. IME to Covid.19, the IIHCPC have not received any enquiri& about
thls pathway to furthL¥ educatTon .post.DlpLoma. It is intended that the hWCPC will reconnect and develcy this associatlon
further In preparation for the academlc year 2022123. The IIHCPC have been (r￿tacted by BPC to reaccredlt the Diploma
Course wlth the Brltlsh Ptychoanalytlc C(wncTI {BPCI to bÈcoff* a Ilember I￿5t￿te IMI within wr own right. Due to
Covid.19, th15 process was delayed but an applicatknn forni together wlth supwrting documents has now been submltted. The
HCPC will undergo an a5se5sment BPC on Saturday 26th Marth 2022. The BACP accreditation of the Diploma Course is
also due this year. Rather than a renewal every flve years, ￿(p have changed it's reaccreditation format 50 that accredlted
COLfSes m￿t now submit an 'Annual Rolllng knew.. TIK* dead11r￿ for klHCPC's submission Is hknnday 28th February 2022.
The AIHCPC Cl￿till￿ to beneflt fr(#n the Invdven*nt of the m￿e expwtenced members of the alwnnl, some of whom now
hold positlons on the Board of Management. co"ordinate the CRS. orsanise the CPD Programme, attend promotional Open
Evenlngs and teach on the Certtftcate in c￿nSellIng Skllis Ctyjrse. Th15 essential Involvement wtll continue to be developed.
