Administrative Information The Parish of Canvey Island is a Team Ministry comprising of the three Anglican churches. St Nicholas's, Sl Anne's and Sl Kalherine's situated in Canvey Island Essex. It is part of the DI0￿Se of Chelmsford within the Church of England. The correspondence address is The Parish Office, 208 Long Road, Canvey Island, Essex, SS8 OJR. REPORT (CONTINUED) FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2024 The Parish of Canvey Island's PCC has the responsibility during this time of co-operating with The Revd Marion Walford who has responsibility for the parish during this period, and the ministry leaffl, in promoting in the ecclesiastical Parish the whole mission of the Church. pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical. 11 also has Maintenan￿ responsibilities for the St Nicholas Church and St Nicholas Centre. Long Road, Canvey Island, as well as the St Anne's Church Hall, St Anne's Road. Canvey Island and making a conlribution towards Ihe costs at St Katherine's Centre (which is situated in the schooD. We are registered as an Inclusive Church.. this is fully supported by the PCC. 10 am services at St Nicholas are live streamed through The Sunday Se￿1￿. The Sunday Service enables local Church Services to be watched wherever people are throughout the world. Review Of The Year PCC SECRETARY'S REPORT There have been five PCC meetings during the year, each of these were prerEded by a Eucharist. The attendance al the meeting5 has been good. Prior to each meeting the PCC members received minutes and reports from the DCC'S, St Katherine's Church of England School. with the opportunity to review and discuss them at the meetings. in addition to verbal r6POrts being received. The PCC encouraged the Church and the Community to reflect on 'Travelling Well Together,. st Katherine's C of E Primary School continue to hold face to face assemblies. Aletta Penman-Barry and Sam Tudor are both in their first year of ordination training. Steven Gard is in his second year of Iraining a5 a Licensed Lay Minister and has been on placement. Revd Lesley McGlynn, Revd Terry Brown, Karen Bates and Helen King have completed their safeguarding leadership training. Messy Church- numbers attending have increased. The service at St Nicholas at 10am is Live Streamed. Moming prayers on Monday via Zoom works well, bringing people together as one Church family. Bereavement Service took place for those bereaved during the last year. St Nicholas Pop Up Foodbank continues to increase. Pilgrimage to Ely Cathedral was lovely. St Nicholas and St Katherine's have both achieved a Silver Eco Church Award. St Anne's is working towards a bronze award. Leadership is Gold in all Churches. Women's and Men's Breakfast are now ioinl. Good feedback feels that everyone mixes well. A Coronation shared lunch and the King Charle5 Big Help Out, a Coronation volunteer day, look place. Both were well supported. servI￿s were held with and for Schools ￿lebrating Harvest. Remembrance servi￿ was held at the Paddocks. in the Knightswick Centre and in St Nicholas. Christingle Services and Carol se￿ices and Mary and Joseph visiled every School during Advent. Carol Singing took place in local Care Homes. Various fund raising events were held during the year including a Curry Night, Variety Evening, Fun Day. Michaelmas Fayie, Line Dancing. Christmas Market, Christmas Tree Festival. St Nicholas took part in the Garden Trail. The cladding of St Nicholas Hall and Centre has been completed.

Total expenditure amounted to £159,202 (2023.. £131,573) leaving a net surplus for the year of £28,475 (2023: £40,096). The main source offunds was from donations. Going Goncem The financial statements are prepared on the going con￿rn basis. Trustees are confident that the Charity will be able to continue its operations for the foreseeable fLrture. Reserves policy It is Ihe policy of the charity that unrestricted funds which have not been designated for a specific use should be maintained at a level equivalenl to be￿een three and six month'5 expenditure. The truslees Gonsider that reserves at this level will ensure that, in the evenl of a Signifi￿nt drop in funding. they will be able to continue the charity's CUTrent activities while consideration is given to ways in which additional fvnds may be raised. this level of reserves has been maintained throughout the year. Majorrisks The trustees have assessed the major risks to which the charity is exposed, and are Satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate exposure to the major rtsks. The law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources of the tharity for that year. In preparing these financial statements, the trustee5 are required to: select Suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently., observe Ihe methods and principles in the Charilies SORP., make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent- state whether applicable accounling standards have been followed. subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements.. and prepare Ihe financial slatements on the going concern basis unless it 15 inappropriate to presume thal the charity will continue in operation. THE PAROCHIAL CHURCH COUNCIL OF THE ECCLESIASTICAL PARISH OF CANVEY ISLAND NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2024 Accounting policies Charity infomiation The Parochial Church Council Of The Ecclesiastical Parish of Canvey Island is a parish council govemened by the Parochial Church Council Powers Measure (1956) as amended and Church representation rules. 1.1 Accounting convention The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the charity's governing documents under the Parochial Church Council Powers Measure (1956) as amended and Church representation rules, the Charities Act 2011 and "Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Stalement of Recommended Piactice applicable lo charities preparing their accounts in accordan￿ with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)° (as amended for accounting periods commencing from 1 January 2016). The charity is a Public Benefit Entty as defined by FRS 102. The charity has taken advantage of the provisions in the SORP for charities applying FRS 102 Update Bulletin 1 not to prepare a Statement of Cash Flows. The financial statements have departed from the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulalions 2008 only to the extent required to provide a true and fair view. This departure has involved following the Statement of Recommended Practice for charities applying FRS 102 rather Ihan the version of the Slatemenl of Recommended Practice which is referred to in the Regulations but which has since been withdrawn. The financial statements are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the charity. Monelary amounts in these financial statèments are rounded to the nearest £. The financial statements have been prepared under the hislorical cost convention. The principal accounting polic¢es adopted are set out below. 1.2 Going concem At the time of approving the financial statements, the trustees have a reasonable expectation that the charity has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable fijture. Thus the trustees continue to adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparÈng the financial statements. 1.3 Charitable funds Unrestticted funds are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of their charitable objeGtive5. Restricted funds are subject to specific conditions by donors or grantors as to how they may be used. The purposes and uses of the restricted funds are set out in the notes to Ihe financial slatement5. Designated funds are subject to specific conditions by donors that the capital must be maintained by the charity. 1.4 Income Income is recognised when the chariiy is legally entitled to it after any performance conditions have been met, the amounts Gan be measured reliably. and it is probable that income will be received. Cash donations are recognised on receipt. Other donations are reGognised once the charity has been notified of the donation, unless performance conditions require deferral of the amount. Legacies are recognised on receipt or othemise rf the charlty has been notified of an impending distribution, the amount is known, and receipt is expected. If the amount is not known, the legacy is treated as a contingent asset. 11

Capitalisation policy It is the charity's policy to write off items of capital expenditure below £500 to Ihe income and expenditure account. VAT As the charity is not registered for VAT all I￿eCOVerable VAT paid is written off to the income and expenditure account. 1.6 Tangible fixed assets Tangible fixed assets are initially measured at cost and subsequently measured at cost or valuation. net of dépreciation and any impaimienl losses.
