PAROCHIAL CHURCH COUNCIL OF ST. THOMAS WITH ST. NICHOLAS

ANNUAL REPORT 2023

Background

The PCC has the responsibility of co-operating with the Rector in promoting the whole mission of the church, pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical in the ecclesiastical parish. It also has responsibility for the worship of our congregations in St Thomas’ Church, Bidbury Lane and St Nicholas Church, Belmont Grove and for the maintenance of these buildings.

Membership

Members of the PCC are either ex officio or elected by the Annual Parochial Church Meeting [APCM] in accordance with the Church Representation Rules. During the year, the following served as members of the PCC:

Committees

Standing and Finance Committee

Oversees the strategic and financial aspects of the work of the church and carries out the business of the PCC between meetings, subject to any direction given by the Council. It approves the agenda for the PCC meetings prepared by the church wardens.

It is also responsible to the PCC for the appointment, salary and working conditions of employment of all paid staff except staff engaged by the Fabric Committees

World Mission Committee

Responsible to the PCC for Parish’ involvement in world mission. It takes the lead in educating the parish and promoting its’ response concerning special missionary projects.

St Thomas Fabric Committee

Responsible to the PCC for the care and maintenance of St Thomas Church and churchyard, its’ preservation and insurance and for the ornaments and equipment used and contained therein.

St Nicholas Fabrice Committee

Responsible to the PCC for the management, care, maintenance and preservation of St Nicholas Church Centre together with the ornaments and equipment therein, also insurance, letting conditions and charges and employment of staff.

At the 2023 Annua Meeting there were on the Colin Hawkes Electoral Roll. Christine Hirsch The practice to relay church services on line from the Jacqueline Mason 9am Sunday service and weekly has continued to be Sandra Matthews popular.
