## **Deanery Synod – Wendy Brown**

Members of Deanery Synod met three times this year in March, June and November. There was also a Deanery Roadshow and a Day of Encouragement.

In March we met at All Saints Birchington where Rev’d Mark Ham led us in Worship. Judith Andrews LLM (Licensed Lay Minister) at St Laurence Ramsgate was elected as Lay Chair for the Deanery. Rev’d Jon Marlow (Diocesan Director of Ordinands and Vocations) led a session on knowing our congregations and the importance of working together in our churches and Deanery as one body. The evening finished with a Canticle and Blessing.

In June the Synod was held at St Marks Ramsgate. Rev’d Philip Musindi led us in Worship. Judith Andrews opened with the Parable of the Mustard Seed showing how from small beginnings mighty things can grow. Following this Judith gave a short presentation on Anna Chaplaincy/Anna Friends. Then we had a further chance to look at the Deanery Plan. Over the past few years many plans had been put together, but little had been achieved. A decision was made to hold a Deanery Roadshow which would be open to all to discuss three main areas Finance, School/Church Partnership and Church Buildings. It was felt that a Day of Encougement should also be held – again open to all. There was an election to the MMC (Mission & Ministry Committee) with Clergy - Father Denis and Lay – Ray Hand both for Margate.

The Day of Encouragement was held in August at All Saints in Birchington.

The Deanery Roadshow was held in September at Holy Trinity Margate.

The September Synod met in Kearn’s Hall in Birchington with Worship led by Rev’d Philip Musindi and chaired by Judith Andrews. Rev’d Matt Hodder who had recently become the incumbent of St Peters Church was introduced. Matt spoke about a survey he was conducting about Children’s & Young Peoples Links with the Church. This had been sent to all Synod representatives to complete for their church. The main part of the evening was discussion around the Deanery Plan and Holy Trinity Margate becoming a Resource Church working with St John’s, All Saints and St Paul’s in Margate and the regenerative effect it could have on the area and Deanery. The evening closed with The Grace.

## **Home Groups – Rosemary Griffiths, Ian and Rachel Copeland**

Homegroups have been an integral part of Holy Trinity life for many years and although the number of groups has sadly diminished I’m pleased to report on the years events of the two remaining groups.

Altogether, there are fifteen members who meet; in an evening group of seven and an afternoon group of eight. Leadership in one of the groups is shared with members taking it in turns to lead the study.

Both groups start with refreshments and catching up with what’s happened since we last met and then enjoy Bible study, lively discussions, singing and prayer (for each other, our church community and the wider world).

Subjects for our studies for 2023 were many and varied and included Abraham’s journey of faith, “Faith” in the book of Hebrews, a four-week exploration of ‘Barnabas the Encourager ‘from Acts, a seven week study ending on Palm Sunday from the “Embrace the Middle East” charity and a selection of topics chosen by individual members and taken from the “LifeBuilder” study series.

We also have social get-togethers and this year these have taken the form of a Pancakes and Prayer evening on Shrove Tuesday, a farewell party for Chris & Colin, a buffet in August, a roast turkey meal in December and two “bring and share” Sunday lunches.

Page **11** of **22**

## **Bible Study Group – Suzanne Lundie**

It was considered by the Mission, Education and Outreach sub-committee to re-introduce the Bible Study Group, so a list was placed at the back of the church to see if there was interest in restarting. To our delight and surprise, over 15 people were interested in joining such a group. So, Cathy Court and I set up its first meeting in July of 2023 looking at Mark’s Gospel, this has proved to be a success and has continued every fortnight since September with numbers around 12 approx. Out of the group we have had three baptism’s which has led to Confirmations at Canterbury Cathedral.

## **Pastoral Care Team – Suzanne Lundie**

The pastoral care team comprises three actives in this field of ministry. This allows us to have, face to face, telephone consultations and via text messages so keeping in touch with those who may need a listening ear or support at the most vulnerable of times. We are also building relationships with Treetops Care Home, visiting the residents and allowing the Manager a lifeline of advice to our Parish Nurse, Margaret Edwards. We hope to extend this throughout 2024.

## **Mission, Education and Outreach – Suzanne Lundie**

The Mission, Education and Outreach sub-committee looks at the missions of the church every year. The missions for 2023 are several we keep as an integral part of HTM and a new addition.

The overseas missions are Mission Guatemala and Ripple (Send a Cow) The local Thanet missions are Still Waters. ACTS which is Active Christianity in Thanet Schools. Thanet Foodlink and AFIA, Away From It All a Mother's Union project. Every year a donation of £600 is given by HTM for each mission. This forms a bond by regularly welcoming these organisations to come and speak to the congregation and for us stepping out in faith to the areas of need in our community and world.

## **Trinity Toddlers – Kaye Nightingale**

Toddlers has continued to enjoy good regular attendees, plus welcoming new families to the sessions. It is always a delight to see the young children run in excitedly ready to play. When Chris Diaper left in July, we asked for prayers for a new adult helper, God graciously supplied two! Kirsty and Charlotte have joined Babara and me. They both bring their own gifts to help with the weekly craft sessions and the rhyme times as well as the moving off equipment from the shed to the hall. We have introduced more Christian songs to the rhyme time, which have been well received and also tried some BSL signing too. We are grateful for help from Sally with the finances and the supplies needed. Please continue to keep us in your prayers.

## **Book Gem – Kaye Nightingale**

This has met nine times this year, the last two being daytime sessions and part of a change to monthly meetings. It has been a pleasure to welcome four new members during the year to the group, each one of whom brings a different aspect to our discussions. Mostly we concentrate on contemporary fiction although we did dip into nonfiction with Sandi Toksvig’s “In between the stops”. This tells of her daily journey into work on the Number 12 bus from Dulwich to Central London, with many humorous anecdotes. We still encourage non-attenders to write a report on the book chosen and this is read at the meetings. The favourite read this year was probably “the authenticity project by Claire Pooley which tells of six strangers brought together through serendipitous discovery of a shared notebook.

Page **12** of **22**

## **Girlguiding at Holy Trinity 2023 – Jackie Hermitage**

The groups continue to grow both in numbers and strength. All our units remain full, and all have waiting lists,

The leadership teams have remained stable, but we have increased our teams by accommodating some young women wanting to achieve their Duke of Edinburgh award. One has stayed on after completing her volunteering and is now a Young Leader. We have also welcomed a returning leader.

There have been a number of ‘firsts‘ this year as we begin to develop new traditions as we grow.

All the units celebrated World Thinking Day, looking the World Association of Girl Guide and Girl Scouts resources – Our World, Our Peaceful Future.

A group of girls (and a couple of leaders) joined the Thanet Gang Show and helped to entertain the paying public. They were fabulous and it was so nice to see girls from Trinity back in the show.

The girls worked hard through the summer term to develop their skills in outdoor activities including putting up tents, cooking outdoors and outdoor safety.

They also celebrated the Coronation by learning about the traditions. The Brownies had a visit from a lady with a national medal (BEM) and made their own ‘Brownie Excellence Medals’. The Rainbows grew sunflowers and left them on the doorsteps of our neighbours as a lovely surprise. We received some great photos of the sunflowers as they grew.

The Brownies completed a Litter Pick in the ground of the Church and in the local park. They collected so much rubbish, plus some surprising items….

The Brownies also learnt how to dance around a Maypole. This was a good challenge but great fun.

The Guides learnt how to make traditional camp bread on an outdoor fire.

The Guides and Brownies attended the Remembrance Day Parade for the first time in many years. They are keen to take our Standards next year and were very reflective about the experience.

The Brownies completed their biannual Christmas cake making – this is always an exciting experience and their cakes are always much appreciated.

Our plans for next year include an overnight experience for all sections, more cinema trips and deciding on some community projects we can develop.

Once again. we have been extremely grateful for the support that Holy Trinity have given us with a warm, safe and friendly place to meet. We would also like to thank the parents and leadership team for their continued support and friendship.

## **Holy Trinity Margate Sea Scout Group and Phoenix Sea Explorer Unit – Terry Pankhurst**

Please find below a summary of our Holy Trinity Sea Scout Group activities over the past year:

## **Beaver Section (6-8 year olds)**

Lots of varied fun badge work completed and several camps held. Visits to Margate Fire & Coastguard Station

Our membership numbers dipped so we ran a bring a friend evening which was successful. All 3 Sections took part in the Margate Remembrance and District St George’s Day parades. Community work with the Cub Section at Christmas time included visiting Maurice House the Royal British Legion Home to sing Christmas carols for them and play games Linking well with Cub section, children moving up as they turn 8 years of age 4 achieved their Bronze Chief Scout Award

## **Cub Scout Section (8 – 10.5 year olds)**

Also lots of varied and interesting badge work undertaken.

Summer Camp at Minster, Cuboree at Kingswood activity centre and a sleepover at Mystole. Numerous visits to Margate RNLI, the Police Station, the new Fire Station at Ramsgate, and a Rail Safety visit to Margate Train station.

Community visit with the Beavers to sing Christmas Carols at the RBL Care Home. International Charity activities learning about UNICEF and the Rights of the Child, a very interesting talk by Southern Water Waste Team about the 3 P’s. Basic scout skills built on learning about Pioneering, shelter building, fire lighting, maps and compass. Each term we have a hike or evening walk exploring the district.

Membership numbers are strong as we are full at the moment.

8 Chief Scout Silver Awards achieved this last year

## **Sea Scout (10 – 14 year olds) & Explorer Sections (14 – 18 year olds)**

A very busy year as usual. Spanner & Socket received their Queen’s Scout Awards 5 Gold Chief Scout awards were achieved.

Dory received a Chief Scout Commendation for Meritious Conduct & Terry received his Chief Scouts Order of Merit.

The Christmas Fair at Holy Trinity saw all the sections joining in the fun and helping to fund raise.

Trip to the Panto was a treat for the Troop after all their hard work. Summer sees the boating season, kayaking in Walpole Bay and sailing and power boating at Minnis Bay. However quite a few evenings were blown out with the weather.

7 young people attended the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea, an amazing experience for all.

Summer camp was back to basic scout skills at Mystole. The section continues to thrive, and our programme is full of fun activities and badge work as we meet throughout the year. Linking through all the sections for our young people is strong from Beavers right through, Cubs, Sea Scouts and Explorers, so much so that we are now finding that many want to return to the Group as Adult Leaders to give back and continue to enjoy the fun that they have experienced.

## **Holy Trinity Mother’s Union Branch Report for 2023 – Wendy Brown**

Holy Trinity Mothers’ Union had 23 members in 2023 over two groups. The Tuesday Afternoon Group meet on the first Tuesday Afternoon in each month. The Evening Group for members who are working during the day meet approximately every six weeks. The Tuesday Afternoon Group has had a number of speakers. Rev’d Sue Woan took us through Epiphany in January and Advent in December. Rev’d Dr Emma Pennington, our Chaplin, gave us a presentation on Lent with items you associate with this period. Sue and Chris Elliot kept us up to date with what’s happening with Ripple (formerly known as Send A Cow). Susan Thomas, our Diocesan Treasurer and contact for AFIA (Away From It All) holidays showed us a PowerPoint presentation of the 2022 holiday at Ashburnham House. Roy Nightingale gave us talks about growing up in London and his work with The Inner City Mission.

The Evening Group met throughout the year to discuss and help organise the fundraising activities we held for AFIA. They arranged and manned stalls at our Annual Garden Party which is held at Grapevine Cottage and later in the year at the Church Christmas Fair. The members and their daughters met at The Allotment to finalise arrangements for Hazel’s Sponsored Marathon Walk and Swim in remembrance of her mum, Rita Pengelly. Hazel completed the walk from Canterbury to Margate accompanied by family and her MU (Mother’s Union) friends in August and her swim in the Autumn raising over £1600 for AFIA.

All fundraising events – The Garden Party; Christmas Fair; Knitted Chicks at Easter; the Cake Stall at the Church Summer Fair; a raffle which we held in Susan’s Garden to celebrate Mary Sumner Day in August and donations from Valerie’s walking group raised a total of £1436.44 towards the 2024 AFIA holiday.

Our Trustees organised an Afternoon Tea Event in the Church. We made Mothering Sunday Posies which were given to the congregation. We also helped to make and distribute the Christingles following the Nativity Service. We provided and served the food for the Trinity Toddlers Christmas Party (this was financed by the MU Canterbury Archdeaconry).

Both groups met in November to put together Christmas Gifts. The Tuesday Afternoon Group give to Sevenscore and Woodchurch Mental Health Units at QEQM and Copperfield’s Assisted Living Accommodation in Ramsgate each year. The Evening Group arranged gifts for families living at the Women’s Refuge.

Our members met in the Vestry for the Annual Wave of Prayer on the 16[th] March. The Branch resumed its involvement in Baptisms at Holy Trinity last year. We met on the first Wednesday in the month for MU prayers in the Church. Some members arranged Prayers for the monthly MU Cathedral Prayer time in the Autumn. In December we attended and participated in the MU Advent Service at the Cathedral.

Unfortunately, Dorothy Manning died. She was a very active member who had transferred to us from the Holy Trinity Broadstairs Branch when it closed following Covid 19. Two other members moved from the area but one of these has joined her new Local Branch. To finish our Mothers’ Union Branch members can be found serving in the Café throughout the week so come along for a coffee or tea and a chat. One of these members is also volunteering in the COGs group. Another is on the rota arranging the Prayer Service in St Mary’s Chapel on Wednesday mornings during Interregnum.

## **CAMEO (Come And Meet Each Other) – Christine Reeves**

Blood Runners, and Wild Wood Trust to name a few.

We had stalls at both Church Fairs, we had our usual Easter and Christmas Services to which we invited Mothers Union Members,

We have enjoyed social gatherings with a strawberry tea in June and lunch in July we were unable to have our Christmas meal in December, but we look forward to having it in January 2024 and would also like to welcome any new members.

## **Deaf Community – Liz Mincer and Jennifer Knight Deaf Corner Café**

Originally set up by Palm Deaf, the café continues on the first and third Fridays of every month from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Around 20 Deaf people use the public café space to socialize including deaf pupils from Foreland Fields School who attend several times each school term. Interpreted Services

Liz volunteers as a BSL interpreter for as many services as possible at Holy Trinity but there is a need going forward to recruit more volunteers to reduce reliance on one person and ensure continuity of offering interpreted services.

Jennifer and Liz were invited to attend a PCC meeting in September. On the agenda for discussion was the importance of providing preparation materials before a service including bible readings, prayers, and sermon. This is something that the PCC are now working on to improve content and delivery of interpreted services for Holy Trinity.

## **Zoom BSL Songs**

Most Thursdays from 8-9 p.m. a small group of Holy Trinity members meet on Zoom to discuss and learn signs for two songs to be used in church the following Sunday. This is led by Jennifer, with monthly Zoom subscription and management of the session covered by Liz, which is extended to people from other churches.

## **BSL learning**

Jennifer offers weekly informal BSL lessons at a cost of £2 per person. These take place on Tuesdays from 12.30 to 2pm which is made available to all those who wish to learn more about British Sign Language (BSL).

## **Hearing Dogs for the Deaf – fundraising events**

In 2023, Jennifer was involved in the following events: Paws for Cream Tea (September) that raised £260.00 Tables at Summer (June) and Christmas (December) fairs Table at Deaf Corner café before Christmas

## **Dementia Services – Julie Thurman – Newell**

We opened a Tuesday afternoon Activity group on 22[nd] January 2023.

I attended an event at the Turner Centre in March 2023 to promote services at Holy Trinity and the dementia services and as this was a volunteering event, I was hoping to source some more volunteers.

We invited the carers to each of our groups in May for tea and cake to celebrate the King’s Coronation.

We held a dementia event in May which included the Virtual tour bus attending. This was well attended with over 100 people coming through the doors. We had stalls in the main hall refreshments and activity sessions.

We had strawberries and cream to celebrate the end of Wimbledon in Cogs in July. The First dementia drop-in session took place on the 1[st] September and had 11 professionals which came to give advice to the public. There were approx. 12 members of the public that attended This is going to be a monthly event.

On 31[st] October I had the privilege to attend a Dementia summit in London with Jackie Tuppen which I found very interesting and gave me an opportunity to network.

The members enjoyed making a remembrance wreath and it was laid on Remembrance Day in church.

The Hoodeners contacted me end of November to say they collect for charity every year and my name specifically had been mentioned for the Dementia services here at HTM and could they collect for us.

All the members received Christmas chocolate and the Volunteers went out for lunch after Christmas as a thank you for their continued hard work.

I have 45 members which attend various groups and 16 Volunteers that help over the 4 days. Activities now run on Monday mornings 9.30-12.30, Monday afternoons 13.00-16.00, Tuesday mornings 9.30-12.30 and afternoons 13.00-16.00 with an option to stay all day. Wednesday Cogs 10.00-15.00 and Thursday Cogs 10.00-15.00.

Drop-in advice sessions take place on the 1[st] Friday of the month.

## **Parish Nursing – Margaret Edwards**

Looking back over 2023 I have been blessed to see the role of Parish Nurse developing and I have been kept busy on the three days that I am employed here at Holy Trinity. I still work some shifts at Pilgrims Hospice at the weekend which I find helpful in keeping my knowledge and skills up to date as well as having other medical professionals to link up with. I have more people coming in to see me which is great. I am increasingly asked to check a blood pressure or weight and can give advice on healthy eating and medication queries. I aim to visit the housebound once a month or by request. There is one lady that I have been visiting since before Covid. She lives with her son who works every day, and she has come to rely on me for “girly chats”. She is hoping to move away in 2024 to be closer to family but I will continue to visit until that transpires.

I have visited Tree Tops Care Home with Suzanne and hope this will become a regular event. I do try to pop into Toddlers Group to chat to the parents and grandparents. Unfortunately, due to time restraints I don’t manage this very often now. I have taken Sit and Stay Fit to groups who meet in the building.

I have been happy to attend the Wednesday morning prayer meeting in the Chapel and have been privileged to lead this meeting regularly.

The Sit and Stay Fit Exercise Class has become very popular. It is generally attended by 10-18 people each week and we do have a lot of fun as well as keeping fit. I have started a dance exercise class which is suitable for older people. This is in its early days and it is difficult to know whether it will be successful. My plan was to run this class after the Sit and Stay Fit, but this has not really worked as some ladies would like to do both but find this too much! My thoughts were that people would do one or the other.

The Thursday Friendship Group has been a real blessing both to myself and the members who come along each week. We have enjoyed quizzes, dancing, discos and games as well as welcoming speakers from various organisations both local and international. My thanks to Roy Nightingale, Suzanne Lundie and Susan Davies for their help and support with this group. In the summer we had our first outing when we all visited Margate Caves. This was a great

Page **18** of **22**

success and we hope to get out more when the weather allows. We try to have a short Christian message as often as we can. This is particularly popular when it involves the leaders performing a sketch.

I have been privileged to be your Parish Nurse for another year and would like to thank the congregation for their support and interest in the role.

## **Finance Report – Michael Jarvis**

Holy Trinity Margate continues to manage its financial commitment and obligations building up a solid foundation to support future growth for the centre and church and to extend its services and activities to a wider community.

Our Parish Share of £71,571 was paid in full within 10 months (£74,763 set for 2024). In 2023 following our quinquennial inspection, we carried out extensive repairs to the flat roofs which were damaged due to excess rainwater and age of the existing roofing materials. The memorial garden was completed coming in slightly over the original budget, additional work was required to upgrade the centre/church internet connections and server.

We did not participate in the Parish Share Giving scheme for Gift Aid payments, set up by the Diocese of Canterbury for parishes that wish to apply. Instead, we successfully submitted our documentation with HMRC for approval, which was a time-consuming exercise, which resulted in HMRC paying the balance of our Gift Aid tax refunds in December.

Standing orders and free will offering remains an important contribution to our income stream, enabling us to fulfil our commitments of paying the Parish Share, employee salaries and utility bills.

## **Hall Rentals / Lettings / Café**

Combined income from the above amounted to £130336.56 less expenses. We continue to see many existing and new organisations benefiting from our hospitality and duty of care in maintaining our facilities, health and safety procedures and creating a relaxing and safer environment for staff, volunteers and clients. Occupancy rates for the rooms are up to 96% and in some cases fully booked. Members of the Deaf and Hearing have set up fortnightly meetings in the café which is well attended. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to Thanet Safe haven who have moved to new premises at QEQM Hospital. They made significant rental contributions during their time with us and played an important role in the community, helping those with mental health issues and providing on-going support.

## **Maintenance Programme**

At the end of December around £41,827.30 had been spent on extensive work to our flat roofs and upgrading our IT network. We are grateful to Jon Martin Building Services who undertook this major roof repair work and for the pointing repairs to the exterior of the north side of church. Additional work was carried out free of charge to the repair of the ceiling inside the south door of our church.

Further items of works plus relevant costs carried out in 2023: Servicing of the centre/church fire alarms and fitting of a new alarm bell - £696 Upgrading internet connections within the centre/church plus purchase of new computers and equipment - £1,462

Flat roof repairs to centre/church, pointing works to exterior north side of church - £18,390 Servicing of boilers including Gas Safety Certificates issued - £450

Replacement of taps and syphon in upstairs ladies/disabled toilets. Repair to underfloor leak outside downstairs toilets - £1,275

Maintenance Service Contract for internal lift - £794

Hiring of ‘bobcat’ machine, purchase of Atlas Wooden Pergola and materials to complete Memorial Garden - £613

Electrical Works – Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) for centre/church – PAT certificates issued – No charge.

We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to the Caretakers (Anthony Thurman-Newell and Glenn Philpott), and to the staff and volunteers who have undertaken maintenance, cleaning, and gardening duties throughout the year.

## **Accountants**

Page **20** of **22**

As in the previous two years, we engaged the services of Dudley & Gore, 50 Queen Street, Ramsgate to examine the accounts.

## **Parish Nursing**

Grants were received from Colyer Ferguson of £15,000 and from Maurice and Hilda Laing Trust of £5,000 in 2021. This has enabled Holy Trinity Margate to continue to provide the services of a Parish Nurse working in our community.

## **Missions**

The PCC agreed in 2023 to make a financial contribution of £3,600, split across six charities, in support of their mission work. The following charities received a donation of £600:

- Thanet Food Bank

- Mission Guatemala

- Still Waters

- Mothers’ Union Diocese of Canterbury (AFIA)

- Ripple Effect (formally known as Send a Cow)

- ACTS (Active Christianity in Thanet Schools)

## **Churchwarden’s Review of the Year – Michael Jarvis**

2023 started with the news that the then incumbent, Revd Clifford Stocking, was to begin a new ministry in Cliffe, St. Helen’s in the Diocese of Rochester. Following his licensing in April, Holy Trinity Margate went into a period of interregnum and the search for a new Vicar/Priest in Charge was underway. Whilst services and activities continued normally within the centre, decisions were taken by the PCC to alter some of the church services, and in this respect the Wednesday Communion service at 10.30am was temporarily postponed. In its place, regular members of the congregation have joined together to hold a time of prayer, each taking turns to lead the session. It has been a delight to see members grow through ministry.

However, we were able to continue with two Sunday services at 8.30am and 10.00am respectively, and we extend our grateful thanks to Revd Dr. Sue Woan and Revd Dawn Watson for taking on extra ministry duties and to Ann Friedlos for all her support with preparations and taking services during our interregnum.

A parish profile was created as part of the process for a new Priest in Charge and PCC members, liaising with The Venerable Dr. William Adam (Archdeacon of Canterbury) and Canon Steve Coneys (Mission and Growth Adviser) formulated a profile that would appeal to the right candidate. In November, a meeting took place at Holy Trinity Margate with The Archdeacon of Canterbury, representatives from the Church Revitalisation Trust and a potential candidate. An application for funding was discussed that would help Holy Trinity Margate become a resourcing church promoting and supporting, not only its own ministry, but the ministry of other churches in Margate. Following that meeting and a formal interview at Canterbury, the Bishop of Dover, The Rt Revd Rose Hudson-Wilkin, announced in January 2024 that the Revd Mark Nelson (currently Associate Vicar at SAINT, a group of churches in East London) had been appointed as Priest in Charge of Holy Trinity Margate. We will be welcoming Mark, his wife Jenna and their three children in September 2024.

In August the Mayor of Margate hosted the ‘Mayor’s Community Awards’ with Holy Trinity Margate receiving an award for ‘Community Space’, a proud achievement for the dedicated staff and volunteers. In October we welcomed the Bishop of Dover, who presided over our Sunday Communion service. Maggie Paddison from ACTS (Active Christianity Thanet Schools) lead our November Parade service.

PCC approved the appointment of Jackie Tuppen to act as Deputy Churchwarden at the May APCM, and her new role as an Authorised Lay Minister in October. I am grateful for all her support throughout the year.

We as a church also continue to support and pray for Ann Friedlos as she completes her studies to become a Licensed Lay Minister.

With regards to Safeguarding, we have adopted the policies and procedures of the Church of England. All members of the PCC have undertaken DBS checks and have completed the Diocesan Safeguarding Basic Awareness Training (2023). Several PCC members have also undertaken the Safeguarding Foundations (2023) training module. We have dedicated Safeguarding/DBS officers in place. All staff and volunteers are subject to vigorous checks and receive safeguarding training where applicable.

Finally, I would like to say a personal thank you to all who have supported and encouraged me to continue in the role of Churchwarden during this time of interregnum. It has been challenging but rewarding at the same time.

A new era is ahead of us, where we welcome Revd Mark Nelson as our Priest in Charge and Holy Trinity becomes the resourcing church for other churches in Margate.
