## **SECRETARY’S REPORT ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING JULY 2024**

**The year has passed smoothly since the 2023 AGM.**

**Once again we moved into St. Andrew’s Chapel for the months of January, February and March, saving on heat and electricity which again was a great success.**

**We still reach out to the community with the weekly Wednesday lunches, and on Sunday evenings Hope for Food gather in the Hall to feed 70-90 people a large proportion of whom are homeless.**

**My main task is to thank people who have worked so hard to keep the wheels turning during the week and on Sundays. First I must mention the Elders and thank them for their diligence and guidance and we are lucky to have such a dedicated team. Each fulfil different roles within the church. Also Edith Clarke for the Sunday morning coffee rota, Colin Dorsett for organising the Thursday coffees and the Wednesday lunches. Sue Starkey for finding weekly Sunday readers and stewarding on the door, Ann Gawler and Heather Crane and their helpers for our splendid flower arrangements and Sue and Adrian Marchant for their faithful work on the Memorial Garden. Peter Hansford Chairman of the Building Committee has untaken a huge amount of work keeping up with both the church buildings and The Manse and we owe him a great debt of gratitude for this. John Guthrie took over as Treasurer one year ago, and has done a wonderful job keeping our finances in order.**

**Pause for Prayer continues each Thursday morning in St. Andrew’s Chapel and we are most grateful to Agnes Copeland for fulfilling the task of finding people who lead this very special half hour every week. This provides us with many varied and interesting subjects. Most importantly those who are not well and need our prayers are always remembered, presented by one of the Pastoral team – Pat Williams, Lauren Baba-Slimane, Anne Piggott and Gay Hammadeh. Our thanks to them for their preparation of these reports.**

**Once a month Early Birds meet under the excellent leadership of Anne Piggott and her team. After they have met in St. Andrew’s Chapel and the Hall they always come down to join our main service for a while and it is a joy to see them and learn of their activities.**

**A special word of appreciation to our brilliant caretaker, Stuart, for all he does here with patience and good humour at the centre of our activities.**

**I of course conclude this report with mention of our Minister Wilbert. He recently informed us that he would be taking up a new pastorate in Uxbridge and Ickenham and his last service would be on Sunday 28[th] July. We express our huge gratitude to him for all his leadership over nearly seven years at Richmond Hill St. Andrew’s, his inspiring services and pastoral care for the congregation. He has been through some difficult personal times during which he faithfully carried out**

**his ministry.. We wish him every success and all good wishes for the future and also for Regina and the children as they start a new life in Uxbridge.**

**I must now as always give you the statistics for the year June 2023 to June 2024.**

**There were no BAPTISMS or WEDDINGS during this period.**

**THOSE WHO HAVE DIED It is with great sadness we record the loss of twelve of our members and friends who have died during this church year.**

**Cynthia Sinclair - July 2023 Alan Rolf - July 2023 Suzanne Fulton - August 2023 Pat Garrioch - 13[th] October 2023 Revd. Brian Rawling - 31st October 2023 Alan Penhale - 28[th] November 2023 Trevor Fulton - February 2024 Doreen Hogg - 20[th] April 2024 Babs Darter - April 2024 Georgie Miller (A) - May 2024 Jean Simmonds (F) - May 2024 Michael Ponting (F) - June 2024**

**We express condolences to all their families**

**OUR TOTAL MEMBERSHIP IS 77**

**We now enter a time of interregnum and challenging times ahead during which we must all pull together and trust in the words of the hymn that ‘ God is working his purpose out as year succeeds to year.**
