To advance the education of the public in the care of Greyhounds, Lurchers and Whippets. Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts. Para 1.17 and 1.19 Connections with the public and information about the dogs in our care were conveyed via social media and our website. Home checks of potential homes continued to take place virtually during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns. Measures were put in place, reviewed and changed regularly to ensure Covid-19 restrictions were being met whilst still homing dogs. Advice prior to and after adoption was offered to the public either through a virtual platform or over the phone. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic Dogstrust were in need of dogs for their rehoming centres. We facilitated the handover of 72 dogs directly from the trainers to Dogs Trust. We have maintained a strict policy of never euthanising a healthy dog by accommodating dogs that would be difficult to rehome with the Greyhound Rescue North East team, in foster placements or permanent residence at our kennels. +

This is demonstrated by the support provided to ensure that healthy dogs are rehomed and those unsuitable for rehoming are cared for. During the lockdown, the benfits to members of the public of caring for a pet became even more evident . Financial Review Review of the charity's financial position at the end of the period Para 1.21 Financial position remains viable, and an independent examiner has reviewed accounts as our income has risen above £25k for the first time this ear. In addition to the general running costs of the Rescue, the charity endeavours to have funds to meet larger, unforseen veterinary bills for animals in our care and those being rescued on an ongoing basis. There is a recognition that larger kennel facilities will be required in the future to meet demand and funding for this requires a build up of reserves as runnin costs allow.
