ACHIEVEMENT AI¥D PERFORMANCE
Charitabl¢ adivities
The &ssets and liabilities of the previous Tn￿t clwity No. 293404 were transf¢rr¢d to this
Incory)orated Charity at ¢lose of business on 31st January 2010. An amount of £10 has b¢en
retained in the Trust so that it is available should firture legacies E¢ given to it. This action l)&s
been taken as a result of legal advice and thar ￿11 no difference in the way the work is seen or
in the services that it offers.
As trustees, we review our aim& objectives and activities each year. We have refeTred to the
guidance contained in the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit when reviewing
our aim and objectives and in planning our futur¢ ￿tivitieS. In particular, the trustees consider how
planned activiti¢s will contribute to the aims and objectives they have set.
Our work involves Jneeting people who we can help through prayer, discusston and using various
fornis of literntur¢.
The Retail Environment has changed significantly over the past few years. However. &s the only
Cl]ristian Bookshop in a wide locality we continue ts) play a strong role in SUPPK)rting our customers
with Christian books and materials.
During this past year we have seen the unprecedented challenge that Covid h&8 brought This bas
dramatically affected the way that we have interacted with our customers. We have experienced
around 5 months of lockdown in the past y¢ar and lockdo￿ was still in place at the end of this
financial year. A¢knowledwg that many of our regular ¢ustomers fall into more vulnerable
categories with regards to CoviiL even when we have reduced our opening hours to
compensate for less customers. In January, we were able to provide a call and collect service, even
with the shop closed an¢ in some c&ses, provided delivery of items needed.
As we look lorward to coming out of lockdow￿ many of our regular ¢ustom¢rs prefer to visit to
view for themselves rather than rely on online purch&ses. They seek advice especiatly with regards
to Bibles and our sales focus is n￿Intained in the sales of Bibles. children's books and gifts. Our
current stock mix reflects the demand that we experience and therefore a wide range of bibles
continues to be n)aintained.
Supply of bookstalls to churches is nornmlly an im•t way in which we support and assist them
in providing Christian Lit¢ratur¢ to their contacts and congr¢gations. Our contacts with local
Churches and Cbristians have been a means of mutual encouragement and practical help.
Unfortunately, due to Covid and churches being closcd this bas been at a minimum in the last year
and we look forward to this reti]rn￿g after lockdow
We are gratefid to that our services have ken Maintain￿ du¢ to the SUp￿rt of our loyal local
Churches and Christians.

We have been gratefill for the various retail and Governn]ent grdnts that have been available to us in
the last year, especially when it b&s been necessary to furlough most of our employees. Our
finances continue to operate very tightly, however we maintain sufficient available ieserves which
have been built over a numb¢r of years lo assist in times of difficulty and this has Proved itself in
the past year. We expect our finances to continue tightly into next year &s the county recovers
itself.
Our staffing stTh￿tUre consists of Martin Deadman who continues to oversee the work on a
part-time basis working in Perivale one day per fortnight assisted by Devon Cowan as Assistant
Manager working five days per week. We operate with three part-time employees and one
Saturday employee.
We are grateful for all those who give their tin]e and energies to the worK including volunteers.
Without them it would not be possible to carry on. Some give titne to work in the Bookshop, while
others give their time and advice in the teclmicai and professional areas. If we had to purchase this
technical advice it would cost us many thowsands of pounds a year.
We continue to lease our premises in Horsendcn Lane South to Hope Community Church which
they maintain as their church premises. W¢ are ple&sed to acknowledge the Christian outreach
work that th¢i' maintain there.
The Christian cent￿ and IN)okshop is valued by many &8 part of the life of the Perivale community.
Reflecting local nature, three of our seven Trustees live in Perivale with a further one other
