For some of our ¢hurches wlth small congregationB and small local communities thls 108s has bean very Significant, and numbers hav8 really dwindled. For other churches 8ervlng larger communlties, the la8t year has brought opportunity and growth, wlth new people appearing in our churches, bdnging with them 9rf18 and tslents that polnt towards renewal and development in the future. The Church is looked after by a committed Local Church Council and we endeavour to reach out to our Community at all tlm88. During the year our flat roof began to really show lis age (50years),' after yet another leaK w8 decidad to try and tundraise for a new roof. At Xmas the vlllage came together at a fundraislng event - carol sin￿n9 around the Xmas tree. Refreshments were served and the fundraising began. In the Autumn we applied for Iwo grants, the firsl from the di￿8$an offiea arKI, after their meeting together with th8 vlsitatK)n by the Archdeacon. we had good news and success. The second grantwas from the W.D.A.F. CJ•lo of Glam) and thi8 grant was also recently suc¢essful. The roofer hopes to start wmrk as soon as the wèather improv88. The original wooden structure was replaced with the stone structure in 1234 (an easy date lo rememberll. The year 2a24 saw the church in good heart and b8gan with another excellent quiz organised by Erlc and Anne Sparks. This ￿ent was well attendod and enjoyed by all. Our wJanl8t, Mrs Jan Jones, who has been playlng Ihe church organ for over swlenty yea[8 has ntYN tsken a 8tep back. Jan when a gid remembers her mother telling her to get on her bike and 90 to Llanmihangel church to play before dashlng back to play in Llanmaes. ' Providentialy a young couple joAned our ser¥lce$ in tha eady Bummer and ju$t happen8d to bo recent graduates of the Welsh Colege of Music and Drama. In the autumn he wasjolned with some fellow collage gradu8t081o form a woodwind quintel and provlded a memorabk concert to a packed Church. Our recently restored Church bells have b￿n heard regularly throughout the yaar. Once again our Remembrance Day 88rvlce was hekj by the Vlllage War Memorial with St James, belng open for all who wished to spend some time in private refiection. There was a display of infomi8tion datsiling the lives of many of those narnes appear on cur Villa9e Memorial and memorial candl6s were lit in thelr honour. Thank you. to all the clergy for their invaluable supporti Fabrlc Having obtained the necessary facukies. we were able to replace the overtioad chancel light5 With more energy efficient bulbs so now the cobwebs and damp patches on the walls are much better illuminatedl At the same time the Inner and outer porch lights weTe replaced with motion sensor equivalents which has made evening access much safer. The new outer porch door wa5 installed in October and looks wonderful and is so much more User friendly! We need to repla* the plaster on a section of the inner solrth wall which is falling off and showtng an mpressive array of green mould. They are not currently dangerous but will be repaired when posslble. One stone which was leaning over the path to the front door has been reinstalled In a vertical posillon. A tree on tha East boundary is causing some damage to a naighbourfs ggrden wall and needs to be removed. We have received approv¥1 from the Arthdeacon for the work to go ahead and heve chosen an approved contractor from the 3 estlmales we sought. We are currently awaltlng planning approval from the Vale Council for the work to proceed as unfortunately the tr88 ccncemed has a TPO in place.
