D8C8mber 2024. The trustees have adopted the provisions ol the Flecommended Practice (SORP)
"Accounting and Reporting by Charities" (FI4S 102) in preparing Statement of the annual report and
financlal statements of the charlty.
The fi'nancial statements have be8n prepared in accordance with the accounting pollci8s set out in notes
to the accounts and comply with th8 charity's governing document, th@ Charit188 Act 2011 and Accounting
and Reporting by Chariti8s'. Statement of Recommended Practice applicabl8 to charities preparing their
accounts in accordanca wlth the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic ot
Ireland publlshèd on 16 July 2014 (as amended by Update Bulletln 1 published on 2 February 2016).

The principal purpose of Ihe church is the advancement of Ihe Christlan faith according to Iha principles of
the Baptist denomination, The church may also advanc8 education and carry out other charitable

In fulfilling its purpose. the church will engage in a range of activltles. elther on Its own or wilh other8, Ihal

Revlew of a¢tivitie8 in 2024
In 2024, the church text of the year was from Psalm 46.10 "Be still, and know that l am God" This verse
was significant for the church family during a year that started with a ministerial vacancy and inspired
P8riod ot teaching on tTU8ting God through times of uncertainty.
This year the church has seen steady growth as God draws people to Himself and Inlo a vmrshipping
community. AS in recent years, rarely has ther8 been a week where we hav& not seen a new face on our
Sunday morning. Our popular monthly Café church conlinues to draw all ages together with a mlxture of
craaliva worship and storytelling. together ￿th a shared breakfast and time for lellowship.
The church supports several community partnerships. Every Tuesday evening the church 18 used aB a
venuo for 'Tha Feasl,, an initiative run by another local church to provide friendship and meals to
vulnerable people. The Baby Drop-ln group provide8 a facility for parents to waight Iheir babies and to
provide community support,
Every Thursday the church opens ils doors with a community café called Hope Café. Hope Café provides
tea, coffee and cake on a voluntary donation basis. and provides space for participation. The café is
rogistered as a 'Places of Welcome,, a Church Urban Fund initiative. This year a newly formed Art Club
has started to meet at Hope Calé each week and once a month on Saturday, providing a space for
creativlty and relallonshlp ￿lIdIng.
A8 a community of followers of Jesus, we are dedicaled to outreach and a holistic mi88ion in reaching the
lost for Jesus. We have run two Alpha courses over Ihe year for people to explore the excitement,
¢halleng8 and loy ol following Christ.
Our Children and Famllles Worker contlnues lo be inslrumental In developlng our work wllh famllles In the
local area. Over the year we have held Famlly Fun on Mondays In the summer holldays and a klds Llght
Paty in October.
There are dedicated small groups for members of our community. A men's group offers activilies such as
men's br8akfast, target shootlng, walks and curry nights. Our YKJmen's group held a Qu18t Day on "Nourlsh
the Soul" in Easter, an Advent dlscusslon group and soclals such as a chln888 m8al. Our mid-w8ak
fellowship groups provlde a space for disclplashlp wllh blble-study. pray81 and pasloial caye along ￿1th
time for fellowship and socials.
Ignlte is a group for Racapiion to Year 6 Ihat meets on a Tuesday aftor school during term time. Fortify19 8
youth group for studenls in school year8 7 - 13 that meets every Friday for clubnlghls and outlngs. on
Sunday evenlng for a blble sludy, and in Ihe summer attended the Newday youth festlval In Norfolk
showground.

Options Is a group tor our older friends (over 55s) and church members. They have a varied programma,
with speakers, quizzes. muslcal afternoons, chalr aerobics sel to music, and mor8. They always have lea
and homemade cakes and a splfltual thought for th8 Week,
We conlinue to support eld8rly memb8rs of th8 communty, to share God's love and comfort with those al
Ihe end of Ihelr earthly ioumey and provided continuing care to the bereaved.
The Church was pras8nt at Hay¥vards Healh Town Day, engaging In many conversatlons with peopl& keen
lo explore faith and connecl with a local community. There have baen two nawcomer lunches to welcome
those who have recently joined our communlty. Ove the summer wa held a summer program V4ith beach
trips, walk and BBQ. In the ALrtumn we hosted invltation events by VC8 about their work with Prayerline,
Tough Talk charity presented an inspirational gospel me88ag8, and November tha vKxnèn'8 group hosted
a vffeath making workshop.
Over Ihe year we have supported BMS Ilnk workars in Chad. We conlinua to support Cathy Hine, a
mission W￿rker in North Africa linked to InterseNe who joinad use for a Har(esl mission supper in the
Autumn. The church supports Amigos In a lour-year partnership to support their woik in Uganda that
provides practlcal and holistic life skills for communlties lo thrive. In the run up to Chrlstmas we SUPPOrted
the work ol Link for Hope with their shoebox appeal for Eastern Europ8.
The church family continues to responsa to èmergency appeals for humanilarian relief.
Our Harvesl appeal this yaar raised £729 for BMS work in Banglad85h. along wilh donatlons towawds

In 2024, th8 church was pleased lo call Dan Tyler and his family to minister at HHBC. Dan has over 14
years, experience as a pastor and we are conlident in God's leading our church family to call him in to a
new season for the church.
In the summ8r 012024, it was Mth d88p gratitud8 Ihat we thanked R8v. Susan Stevenson for her fallhfully
S8rvlc8 to HHBC as mod8rator during our pastoral vacancy. As a retired minist8T, former Regional
Minister and current moderaioi to thè national Ministerial Recognition Committee, she brought a wealth of
experience to the ¢hurch family arKI to ministerial S&ar¢h team.
Sharing the good news ol Ihe gospel has been our focus with many gifted mambers of the church
continuing and developing their own ministries. Most of the congregation meet in person, though we
continue to have a small number joining via Zoom on a Sunday mornlng who are unable to attend In
p8rson. W8 have r8gul8r opportunilies to m88t for pray8r in-p8rson and on Zoom. and this year we r8.
&stablished a monthly church family prayar meeting. W8 were dalighted to have four baptl8ms in 2024.
We continue to be supported by the work of a part time Children and Families Worker who leads and
continu8S to develop our work with local families. Our part time Church Administrator supports th8
leadership and voluntaars thioughoul the year and has baen a walcoming presenca for vlsitors from tha
local community.
Governance
The church 1$ govarnÉd by its constitution.
The minister and deacons are the church truslees providing spiritual leadership, pastoral oversighl and the
administration of the Ghurch. All truslees are elected by the church meeting, requiring a minlmum vole of
thirds of the m8mb8r8 Voting, to secure eleclion. Deacons are eligib18 to serv8 two three-y8ar 18rms,
lollowed by a vacant year when they ara not ellglbla for alaction.
The twstees meet Iwice each month, once specifically for prayer and once to conduct the busin8ss of the
church. A typical business meeting agenda covers pastoral matters, ministry, finance, child and vuln8rable
adult protOCtion. health and safety, premises and administrats've issuas.

Th8 trustees maintaln a register of linancial and operatlonal risks that ar8 regularly revi8W8d to manage
risks that the church is exposed to. The Trust8es consider that the major risk facing the ohurch is lailure to
reach new generation. They have recogni8ed Ihat th8S8 n8e(ts contlnued focus, plannlng and outreach to
mlligate the polentlal Impact.
Total income for Iha year was £266,890 (2023- £522,806). The church was also fortunate to receive
donations this year of £243,75912023'. £183.709). Total expenditure for the year was £203,681 12023:
£141.(K14). Tolal lunds at the balanc8 sh88t date were £2,370,31912023.. £2,307,110).
The Building Funds brought fO￿ard Reslricted value has been reclassified from R8Strict8d to Unrestricted
Building Fund and the building has been purchased and paid off in full within this financi81 year, this
movément is now shown in the balance sheet not8 4 & 9 and accurately reflects the bulldlngs belong io
the charity. The Church building wlll contlnue to ba used for fulfilling Its charitable purpose.
Wlthln unréslricted funds were £2.307,828 tied up In tangibl8 fixed assels leaving £62,490 of free
reserves. The truslees consider Ihe charlty to be a viable going concern.
Total Income dropped compared to 2023 due to the Sale of 14 Pinewood Way In 2023. EXC￿dIng thi8.
the Church saw donations for the year Incraased by £80,050 malnly contributable to a gift day held In
March 2024 to pay off the manse morlgage.
Expendlture rosa in 2024 With the church retuming to 3 paid staff wlth Iha appolntm8nt of our laad minister
mid-way through the year,
In January 2024, the purchase of a manse 60 Bruce Close was completed. The new manse is in an Ideal
location, has good slze and law)ut, and has ample parking. The purchase was financed uslng proceeds
from the sale of the prevlous manse, together with excess cash reserves that had accrued during the
ministerial vacancy. and a £75k loan from the Baptist Union Corporalion. Thls loan was fully paid off In
2024. The trustees havè consideied Ihe level of resenles they wish to retain appropriata to the size of the
church, its needs and financial commltments. The trust88s' objective is to 8nsure there are sufficient
resources for the church to meet its financial commitments in the event of a temporary shortfall in inGome
or unexpected expendllure, Thls will contlnua to be ievlewed considerlng the prevailing financial
circumstances.
Rl8k management
Tha trustees have assessed the major rlsks to whlch the Charity is exposed. In particular those related to
the operations and financ88 of th8 Charity. and are satisfled that systems and procedures are in plac8 to
mltigate exposure to the major risks.
Fund Rai¥lng Pollcy
Tha church receiv89 donations from the congr8gatlon and members through weekly offerings, speclflc
appeals and one off donations.
Due to the limit8d nature of Ihg fundraising activitles cuirently undertaken, the church does not formally
monitor compllance wilh th8 Code of Fundraising Practice. The church does not consid8r that any of Its
fundraising acbvities constitute unreasonable intruslon on a person's privacy. unieasonably persistent
approaches or undue pressure to give and has nol recelved any complaints in respect of thls during the
year. Requests are only made to those vtho are already members and supporters of the church and
people can unsubscrib8 al an￿lMo. Thè church does not work with any commarcial participalors or
professional fundrais8rs.

accordance wtyth the Chariti&$ Act 2011 and in accordance wilh applicable accounting standards.

carried out without charge by volunteers. This intangible cost is not included in the slatement of

The charity only has financial assets and linancial liabilities of a kind that qualify as basic
financlal Instruments. Basic financial Instrum8nls, including debtors and creditor8 are initially
r8cogni88d at transaction valu8 and subsequently measured at their settlem8nt valua with the
exception of bank loans which are subsequently measured at amortised cost usSng the
effective interest melhod.

n) Employee Beneflts
The charity operales a defined contribution plan for its employeas. A defln8d contribution plan is a
pension plan under whlch Ihe chaiily pays fixed contributions into a separate entity. Once the
contributions have b88n paid th8 charity has no furth6r payments obligations. The contributions are
r8cognis8d as an axperbs8 when Ih8y are due. Amounts not paid are shown in accruals In the

The church is a parti¢ipatlng employ8r within th8 Defined Benefit section of tha Baptist Pension
scheme and has been making ongolng deficit payTnents 01 £1 per month to cover the costs of past
service ot ils staff withing the schema. The church undeistands that il would have cost £48.SLKJ to
settle its statutory obllgations to Ihe scheme at the y8ar end. The church has no plan to leav8 Ihe
