Objects and Public Benefit
The charity’s objects are to:

Advance the Islamic faith by maintaining and managing a community centre and masjid in Barking and Dagenham.

Advance education and provide facilities for social welfare and recreation.

Promote other charitable purposes as determined by the trustees.
All activities during the year were carried out in furtherance of these aims and for the public benefit.
Main Activities in 2024

Daily Prayers: The masjid remained open to the public for all five daily prayers and Friday Jumu‘ah, serving 400-500 attendees daily.

Educational Services: Madrasah classes operated for around 70 students; adult education sessions were held weekly.

Community Support: BHIS provided welfare and advice, hosted Ramadan and Eid programmes, and continued collaboration with interfaith partners in Barking & Dagenham.

Women’s and Youth Engagement: Regular sessions for sisters’ groups and youth circles were maintained throughout the year.

Security and Premises: 24/7 security continued, and planning for first-floor expansion was reviewed.
Volunteers
The charity depends heavily on volunteers for event management, teaching, and facility maintenance. The value of volunteer time is estimated at approximately £50,000 per year.
