## **Moretonhampstead Sports and Community Centre Limited** Trustees report for year ending December 31[st] 2021 Unfortunately the year started with another Covid 19 lockdown, resulting in the Sports Centre being closed for a further period of time. A somewhat stop start year with Covid 19 related interruptions to our schedules. Following an easing of some restrictions, we tentatively opened the doors and operated as best we could in challenging circumstances. Sport and social distancing do not comfortably go hand in hand, but thanks to the dedication of our staff, volunteers and service providers we adapted and were able to offer some limited gym sessions via a pre-booking system. We are lucky enough to have a large playing field as part our facilities and good use was made of this, including some classes usually held indoors being able to move outside for the duration. The fortitude of the instructors, whose desire to make sport happen no matter what, was admirable and certainly very much appreciated. In the circumstances, foot fall was inevitably much lower than usual and income suffered correspondingly. As normality slowly began to return later in the year, we could begin to make a more concerted effort to re-establish some routine and offer more gym sessions, classes and activities. At the same time we were also cautious, mindful of the continuing uncertainty and not planning to risk doing too much too soon. Looking ahead and being optimistic about a brighter 2022, our priority will be to promote our facilities, support activities to get up and running smoothly again and encourage the recruitment and retention of staff and volunteers to help us run the Centre for the health and wellbeing of the community that we serve.
