Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main The Covid-19 pandemic and local lockdowns impacted the donations achievements of the charity received from the public however we still managed to receive about 40k during the year from the public donations and also encouraging our donors to setup standing orders to send their donations by bank. The income from GiftAid claim, Local grants and Lottery fund has resulted in extra income of £43k. The renovation that has started in 2019 has been completed about 95% and payment made for renovation work in 2020 was about £34k, bringing the total sofar to about £188k. The estimated cost to complete the renovation to be completed in 2021 would be around £10k As usual we are expecting good support from the local community after the lockdowns finish in 2021 and gurdwara is fully open for prayers and services. we will be looking for extra grants from local government to fund any new projects. The management committee received commendations individually from the Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire Mr Ian Dudson CBE KStJ for selfless act and contribution to local community during the pandemic. Due to Covi-19 it was not possible to hold our annual Nagar Kirtan procession however we will be arranging one soon when it is allowed and safe to comply with the local government guidance and Covid-secure way. We are also thankful to all the volunteers who are making themselves available for any help needed in renovation work. The free membership of the charity has increased significantly over the year and still growing.

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Guru Nanak Sikh Temple: Charity no 1131137

I report on the accounts of the Charity for the year ended 31 December 2020 which are set out on pages 3 to 8

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act)) and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:

to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 • Act; and

Basis of independent examiner’s report

My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view' and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

Independent examiner's statement

The trustees have prepared receipts and payments accounts showing cash received in the year of £83582.2. No digital records are kept and there does not seems to be a competent individual to record the financial transactions on timeley basis. However payments and receipt vouchers, invoces and purchases invoices are were presented to match with account prepared and to complete this independant examination

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention, other than that referred to in the above paragraph;

  1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements:

  2. to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and

  3. to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act

  4. have not been met; or

  5. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
