PARISH For thc first half of the year, music was significantly restricted, wit]) only cantQTS or choirs pcrniitted to sing- tlie government guidelines pennitted congregational singing from late July. All three cliurches saw developments in OUT music, witli the choir at S. Mark's experiencing significant growth under our newly appointed director of mugic, Katrine Reiiners. We have continued to ensure we teach the faith, even during the restiictions, with a weekly online bible study group meeting throughout the year. Our confimand9 a190 took part in online calechesis. W¢ have also sought to support the formulion of ordinands, wilb a student oil placement from Sorum College kuid with a deacoii, Fr Som Okonkwo, who had been ordained in Ilie Cliurch of Nigeria, on a long-tenn placement organized via the Diocese. All tliTCC congregations took part in surveys organized as part of the Healtliy Cliurches Initiative, an international programme which looks al eight indi¢ia of what constitutes a healthy church. The PCC hopes that that will assist with our process of ren¢wal and mission action plaI]ng. Our investment of iinrestricted funds with the CBF totals £359,747.98. The value at the close of 2020 wa5 £319,685.69. The process of identifying the ffjajor risks, to which the parish is cxposed, as id¢iJtified by the PCC, continues. The PCC is committed to continuing this review of J'isks identified, and that thr sy5tcms established to miligate those risk a]e improved where necessary. Following guidance from OUT Independent Assessor, the PCC has put in place new wj'itt¢n financial procedures, which were adopted from November 2021. During 2021. the PCC carried out a review of our saf¢guarding poli¢i¢s and Ensured these were comprehensively updated in accordance with thc most recent guidance troni the Diocese aiid tlie Church of England iiatioi)ally. We liave also ¢aiTied out risk assessments of all aclivities in our churches involving children and young people.
PARISH FUTURE PLANS In 2021, the PCC began the pro¢¢ss of developing plans for mission and cvangelization. Benedict van der Linde was appointed on a Goiisultancy bisis to help witl) Inappiiig out how S. Aldlielin's and ¢aGh of our coi)gregatioi)s can better 8erve our local cominunitics. This will continue in 2022. Fr Toby will lead a PCC away day early in 2022 so that the PCC can begin work forniulating a strategy for the Parish. The PCC has al%0 begun discussing how the Parish might be staffed in future, exploring whether we might be able to appoint a secoiid full-time stipendiary priest, rather than appointm¢i)t someone on a house-lor-duty basis. We will also s¢ek to explore ways of equipping lay pcople to be Inore involved in mission and minisiry.
