The trustees present their report and accounts for the year ended 31 July 2023.
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in note to the accounts and comply with the Trust's Charitable Trust Deed, the Charities Act 2011 and the Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).
Structure, governance and management
The charity is controlled by its constitution which is based on the Parent Teacher Association model and adopted at the formation of the charity.
The trustees who served during the year were:

The members put themselves forward for the role voluntarily and are elected by vote at the annual general meeting annually.
Mrs R A Madhani is the treasurer of the charity, and deals with administrative matters on an unpaid voluntary basis. All trustees are voluntary and unpaid and are responsible to ensure that the objects of the charity are observed and the duties of the charity are carried out in accordance with the applicable law.
The trustees has assessed the major risks to which the is exposed, and are satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate exposure to the major risks.
Objectives and activities
The objective is to host regular fund raising events to help enhance the facilities and experiences that Chigwell pupils enjoy as well as striving to bring the community of parents, pupils and teachers together. This allows for an enriched school experience.
The policies adopted in furtherance of these objectives are having a core committee with a range of expertise which work closely alongside the school to ensure the events put on are aligned with the school values and policies. There has been no change in policies in the year.
When planning our activities for the year, the trustees have paid due regard to the Commission's guidance on public benefit. The Trust provides a public benefit in accordance with its objectives which are to put on a range of fundraising activities for all ranges within the school.
The trustees have paid due regard to guidance issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what activities the should undertake.
Achievements and performance
During the year the charity put on a range of fundraising activities for all ranges within the school including a large scale fireworks night, Christmas fayre, pop up shops, summer fayre, disco's and movie nights. Other events include a visit from the Easter bunny and supporting the school prom.

Financial review
The financial position at 31 July 2023 will allow the Charity to continue its main activities to support the objectives as listed earlier. The charity plans to run similar fundraising events to raise further charitable income in the coming year.

STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES' RESPONSIBILITIES

The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees' Report and the accounts in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).
The law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the trustees to prepare accounts for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the and of the incoming resources and application of resources of the for that year.
In preparing these accounts, the trustees are required to:

select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;

observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP;

make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;

State whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the accounts; and
-
prepare the accounts on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation.
The trustees are responsible for keeping sufficient accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the and enable them to ensure that the accounts comply with the Charities Act 2011, the Charity (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 and the provisions of the trust deed. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF FRIENDS OF CHIGWELL SCHOOL
| report to the trustees on my examination of the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 July 2023 which comprise the Statement of Financial Activities, the Balance Sheet and the related notes.
This report is made solely to the charity's trustees, as a body, in accordance with section 145 of the Charities Act 2011. My work has been undertaken so that | might state to the charity's trustees those matters | am required to state to them in this report and for no other purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, | do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than the charity and the charity's trustees as a body, for my work, for this report, or for the opinions | have formed.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
As the trustees of the charity you are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ("the Act").
! report in respect of my examination of the charity's financial statements carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination | have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
An independent examination does not involve gathering all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently does not cover all the matters that an auditor considers in giving their opinion on the financial statements. The planning and conduct of an audit goes beyond the limited assurance that an independent examination can provide. Consequently | express no opinion as to whether the financial statements present a “true and fair’ view and my report is limited to those specific matters set out in the independent examiner's statements.
Independent examiner's statement
| have completed my examination. | confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

{a) accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or

(i) the financiai statements do not accord with those records; or
-
(ii) the financial statements do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of the accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulation 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a "true and fair" view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

- 1 Accounting policies
1.1 Basis of preparation
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and are presented in sterling and rounded to the nearest £1.
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial reporting Standards applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019) and the Charities Act 2011.
The charity constitutes a public benefit entity as defined by FRS 102.
1.2 Incoming resources
All income are accounted accounted for when receivable by the charity.
1.3 Resources expended
All resources expended is recognised on an accrual basis as a liability is incurred. All costs are clearly identified , so do not need apportioning between classes of expenditure. The unrecoverable element of VAT is included in the item of expenses to which it relates.
1.4 Accumulated funds The charity has no restricted or endowment funds. All funds are credited to the unrestricted fund held for the future running of the Trust.
