The trustees who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act 2006, present their report with the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 August 2025. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).
Objectives and aims
To introduce and enhance skills in football.
To increase participation in football and regular physical activity in line with the ambitions of Sports Wales and the Active Wrexham Strategy.
To improve the physical literacy of young people and other target groups.
To use football and physical activity to improve educational attainment, self-confidence and community cohesion.
To utilse our professional sporting parent (Wrexham AFC) to encourage involvement in the Wrexham AFC Community Trust programmes.
To promote Wrexham AFC as a community football club to the people of North Wales.
To work in partnership with Wrexham University, LEA, Coleg Cambria, Betsi Cadwalader University Health Trust.
To provide quality and enjoyable programmes, delivered in a safe and fit for purpose friendly environment
Our mission is to positively change children and young people’s lives in our community. The primary function of the charity is to deliver targeted, impactful activities that improve the life of children and young people in the most underserved communities within Wrexham, North Wales and beyond.
The Foundation mainly operates in areas of high deprivation across Wrexham, which is statistically the most deprived local authority in North Wales, with several wards ranking among the top 10% most deprived in Wales according to the Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation (WIMD). We strategically target the majority of our work in the most deprived areas by operating in schools, community facilities, parks and open spaces to ensure we can directly engage with these hard-to-reach communities.

Achievements and Performance
Across our projects, we delivered 888 sessions and events to 5,273 participants. Targeted delivery reached 20,989 attendances across 1,418 hours, with 84% of sessions offered free to participants.
Strengthening Communities
Over the past 12 months, we have launched our Street Dragons project, funded by Premier League Kicks and Active Wrexham. Street Dragons provides safe, inclusive, and engaging diversionary sessions for young people aged 8–18. The project encourages prosocial behaviour, supports education, and helps build confidence.
The sessions are delivered in targeted high-need areas across Wrexham, including Caia Park, Cefn Mawr, and Rhosllanerchrurog, where opportunities are limited, and antisocial behaviour is a concern.
Through free weekly sessions and holiday activities, 886 young people have benefitted from:

The project continues to create positive impacts by offering young people safe spaces to learn, grow, and thrive.
Supporting Learning
Over the past 12 months, we have enhanced learning in Wrexham primary schools through a range of targeted initiatives. Through our Premier League Primary Stars programme, we have supported 12 teachers to develop their PE skills, while delivering tailored interventions, educational workshops and competitions to over 600 pupils. Our electrical safety workshops, delivered in partnership with SP Energy Networks, reached 473 pupils, equipping them with vital safety knowledge. Meanwhile, the Primary Dragons Captains youth voice project empowered 24 young people to champion inclusion, play, and community pride.
Pupils have also benefited from memorable enrichment experiences through our Future Dragons project, competitions, and stadium visits, providing opportunities that inspire, engage, and foster personal development.
Equal Opportunities
Over the past year, we have expanded our commitment to equal opportunities in sport. Our disability football provision has grown from one to three dedicated teams, with these teams playing eight fixtures across the season. Our weekly Ability Dragons sessions that support young people with disabilities and additional learning needs across primary and secondary schools, engaging 45 unique sustained participants.
We have also broadened our holiday provision, extending beyond Autism-focused sessions to include pan-disability and Down’s Syndrome football, ensuring more young people can engage in meaningful play. Volunteering opportunities have been created for young people with SEND, including a young person with Cerebral Palsy, helping to build confidence, skills, and leadership.
Through our Female Football Development programme, 251 girls in Year 3 across 12 primary schools participated in extra-curricular clubs, with 208 playing formal football for the first time.
Improving Health
This year, we built on existing programmes while setting the stage for a new direction, delivering health-focused initiatives including Walking Football, Parkinson’s UK sessions, the Twinning Project, and Fit Fans (135 participants, including those progressing into our pathway sessions), alongside upskilling 47 inmates at HMP Berwyn as football coaches.

p y g p g g / year offered young people memorable football experiences. The Friday Night Football sessions engaged 161 children aged 4–11 over 28 weeks, while our Soccer Camps engaged 487 young people across 28 days of activities, resulting in a total of 1,728 attendances.
International
Through our international work with Kick4Life FC, over 500 young people in both Wrexham and Lesotho engaged in our shared Curriculum for Good promoting life skills. Funding from the WCVA’s Welsh Government grant enabled young leaders from both countries to co-create the curriculum and take part in international exchange visits.
Welsh Language
We partnered with the National Centre for Learning Welsh to deliver Welsh lessons to more than 30 staff across the Club and Foundation, as well as in-person and online sessions for Wrexham AFC supporters, with 72 participants taking part. We also supported the National Eisteddfod in Wrexham through community activations and panel events that highlighted our commitment to the Welsh language.
Matchdays
Throughout the season, we provided free 3,100 tickets for Men’s and Women’s fixtures to the community. On 29th December 2024, 47 out of the 49 young people attending our match vs Wigan Athletic via our RacecourseLive scheme from Caia Park, 1.2 miles from the ground got the opportunity to watch Wrexham AFC live for the first time. Through matchdays, we provided 10 young people facing challenging times with mascot experiences in partnership with the Free Kicks Foundation. Matchdays extended beyond tickets and supporter experiences, with young people gaining experiences as Ball Retrievers and inclusion of matchday EDI campaigns linked to Her Game Too, Show Racism the Red Card and St David’s Day.
Financial Review
The charity has had a strong year, more than doubling revenues from the 2024 period, to £452,000. Funding has come from a variety of sources as the Foundation's domestic and international profile has increased (which has gone hand in hand with the Club's success on the pitch and successive promotions).
The charity's largest overhead remains salaries, both contracted full time and casual part time, with the number of full time equivalent staff rising to 12.
Cash at bank at year end was £394,000, an increase of £292,000 from previous year end. £170,000 of this cash was held on behalf of the Wrexham Miners' Project, the liability for which is included within Other Creditors.
Reserves Policy
The charity's reserves are in excess of its 6-month policy, i.e. the charity could operate in excess of 6 months in the event its income stream was discontinued

With the support of the Steve Morgan Foundation s £300,000 pledge, the Foundation is expanding its Street Dragons project that tackles antisocial behaviour, creates new routes into employment and improves youth facilities across Wrexham. Alongside this, a partnership with love.futbol will see the development of new safe community play spaces in Wrexham and the US, bringing people together through football, pride and belonging.
The Foundation is also proud to be working in partnership with Wrexham University, creating new education and research opportunities that strengthen the link between football and learning. Together we are developing a Foundation led degree course that gives students real experience in sport, community work, media and events.
Another important step is the creation of a Players Fund, which will build stronger connections between our players and the community by putting them at the heart of local projects that support children and young people and inspire positive change.
The Foundation’s 50/50 Draw continues to play a vital role in funding disability and inclusion programmes, helping make football accessible to everyone. This support will help Wrexham AFC’s Powerchair Football Team take a major step forward by joining the North West Powerchair Football Development League for the 2025 to 2026 season.

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Wrexham AFC Foundation
I report to the charity on my examination of the accounts of Wrexham AFC Foundation ("the Company") for the year ended 31 August 2025.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity's trustees of the Company (and also its directors for the purposes of company law) you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements the Companies Act 2006 ("the 2006 Act").
Having satisfied myself that the accounts of the Company are not required to be audited under Part 16 of the 2006 Act and are eligible for independent examination, I report in respect of my examination of your charity's accounts as carried out under Section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 ("the 2011 Act"). In carrying out my examination I have followed the Directions given by the Charity Commission under Section 145(5) (b) of the 2011 Act.
Independent examiner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe:

accounting records were not kept in respect of the Company as required by Section 386 of the 2006 Act; or
-
the accounts do not accord with those records; or
-
the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of Section 396 of the 2006 Act other than any requirement the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination; or
-
the accounts have not been prepared in accordance with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice for accounting and reporting by charities (applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)).
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

The directors are satisfied that the charitable company is entitled to exemption from the requirement to obtain an audit under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006.
The members have not required the company to obtain an audit in accordance with section 476 of the Act.
The directors acknowledge their responsibilities for a) complying with the requirements of Sections 386 and 387 of the Companies Act 2006 with respect to accounting records and the preparation of accounts and b) preparing accounts which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charitable company as at the end of each financial year and of its surplus or deficit for each financial year in accordance with the requirements of Sections 394 and 395 and which otherwise comply with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 relating to the accounts, so far as applicable to a charitable company.
The accounts have been prepared and delivered in accordance with the provisions applicable to charitable companies subject to the small companies regime.

1 Accounting policies
Basis of preparation
The accounts of the charitable company, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) "Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102 ) effective 1 January 2019)" and the Companies Act 2006. The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention.
Income
Income is recognised once the charity has entitlement to the funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amounts can be measured reliably.
Expenditure
Liabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all costs related to the category. Where costs cannot be directly attributed to particular headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources.
Tangible fixed assets
Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulative depreciation and any accumulative impairment losses. Depreciation is provided on all tangible fixed assets, other than freehold land, at rates calculated to write off the cost, less estimated residual value, of each asset evenly over its expected useful life, as follows:

Taxation
The charity is exempt from corporation tax on its charitable activities.
Fund accounting
Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives of the trustees.
Restricted funds can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes.
Further explanation of the nature and purpose of each fund is included in the notes to the accounts.
Provisions
Provisions (ie liabilities of uncertain timing or amount) are recognised when there is an obligation at the reporting date as a result of a past event, it is probable that economic benefit will be transferred to settle the obligation and the amount of the obligation can be estimated reliably.
Pensions
Contributions to defined contribution plans are expensed in the period to which they relate.
