DHSB PTFA Chair’s Report
A small bit of time and a lot of goodwill equals the PTFA team.
We all want the very best for our children, their school and the equipment needed for a first-class education. We also like to think the students get some exciting adventures and social events to look forward too.
The school, of course, provides all of these things for the students, but sometimes, there are things that are a ‘nice-to-have’ rather than essential and this is where the funds raised by the PTFA come in really handy!
If there is something that the staff or teachers would like some funding for, they are invited to present at the PTFA Committee meeting. We are a friendly bunch and the reason we ask for a short presentation is just to give us a deeper understanding of what the funds are for. The way we raise funds is quite varied, from serving teas and coffees at 11+ exam days, to organising school discos, Easter raffles and scarily, I mean, excitingly, taking nearly 600 children to Alton Towers! We’ll stop at nothing to raise funds and this is ultimately so we can then spend the money on things that really make a difference!
In the past 12 months the funds raised have paid for:
Quizalize (used by the Modern Foreign Languages Department), data postcards kits, a pizza making oven, a talk from a 1994 Rwandan genocide survivor, 5 visualisers, 12 tents, 10 rucksacks, 10 Trangia stoves, 5 Trangia straps, 10 group first aid kits, 5 Art display boards 3D printer
This amounts to a substantial figure of approximately £11,000.
As you can see the PTFA is a huge asset to the school and your children. Please support us if you can.
This can be helping out ad hoc at events, to signing up for the school lottery which is £1.00 a ticket and of which 76p goes directly to DHSB and to prizes.
Signing up for Amazon Smile and to Easyfundraising is literally a way to get us free money as every purchase results in a small donation to the PTFA.
And as we know, every little helps!
We are always looking for new parents to join in and keep things fresh, current and fun! Come and join us if you can. There are 6 meetings a year. Please see the school calendar for details and information is sent out nearer the time. Any questions or offers of help please email ptfa@dhsb.org
