ANNUAL REPORT
FOR THE YEAR ENDED31 DECEMBER 2023
Aim and purposes
Wood Green Team Parochial Church Council (PCC) has the trswjnsibility of co-opeEating with the
incumbent, Revd lan B￿th. in promoting in the ecclesiastical paris￿ the whole mission of the church,
Paslorat, evangelistic, social and ecumenirat.
Objectives activities
The PCC is committed to enabliE7g &8 manv ￿Ople as p)ssible to w0￿h1p w'ith us and to become part
of our parish community. The PCC ¥naintains an overvicw of worship throughout th¢ parish and
makes suggesiions on how our services can involve the tRany groups that livc within th¢ parish. Our
serviccs and worshtp put laith into practice through prayer. scripture and music and 5acrdment.
Whcn planning our activities for the year. the incumbeni attd the PCC have considered the ChaTity
CommissÉoll's guidance on public ￿nefit and. in micular the suppl¢mentary guIda￿e on charities
for the adVa￿ement of ￿lIgIOn.
In particular. we ty to ¢nable ordinary ￿ople to live out their faith as part of our parish community
through:

To facilitate this work it is important that we maintsin the fabric and improve the facilities of our
buildings.

Worsbip prd)'er
Et has been encourdgin¥ year and although we have105t 14 metnbers of ihe Church family through
death. we have also seen Incre￿ of new twple through the d(M)rs. Some of our Tnajor services
such as Christma4 Easier, Pcnte£ost and Si Michael's Day have 5¢en attendance tack to pre-
pandemic days. We have much to build QTt as we enter St Mi¢hael""s 180 year of consecralion. We
continue with a full panern of daÉly worship and prajer and have made ihe consciou5 decision to
cease online worship with the ho￿ that those yd to return to w0￿h1p will now feel confidcnt to do
so. The Church d(￿[S are O￿n daily at ￿ular times and we are pleased to see r*ople making use of
that opportunity amidst a busy community. Morning a￿1 Evening prnyer are offe￿1 daily and the
Euciwi4 is Celebr￿ed daily acros5 the Wood Green Team
Pa9tor41 care
The R¢ctor aniE Team Vicar offer the fitll rdnge of Emstordl care and their nUm￿rS are displayed and
readily available for those in necd of pastoral car¢. Visits to the hospilals and thos¢ ill * home
coTrtinue without ihe constrdints IM￿Sed by the pandemic. The clergy keep in louch with the parish
via a ￿'eeklY parish ¢mail aEKI 200 letters are not sent out Cvcry we¢L

Mission a￿d evaylism
Wc are now preparing for St Michael's l celebrntion of Consecratio￿ Ev¢nts across the Wood
Green"1 eam are being plann¢d and we are using this as a fresh opportunity to reach our into the
surrounding community. Our work with Schools continue and ix)th the R¢ctor and the Team Vicar are
involved with weekly acts of collective worship. In addition thcrc have a number of visits lo the
churches from other schools within the ￿ariS￿ iK>und￿- Our Sunday School "followcrs continues to
encourage our younger Inem￿S and wafrhing our children grow in Confidence week by week is a
re￿ joy. Messy Church plays a huge role in our sister Church and Ts encouraging young families
especially amongsl the Turkish speaking community. The Wednesday 'drop-in ci>ntinues and 15 back
to full nUm￿r5 attending. This provides a gentle introduction io thc church family. and many have
join£d us in church via the droTrin. Our work with tecnagers has grown significantly and have
included so￿¢ incredible moments over the last year. This includes Sunday morning take-ovcr, when
Ihc 'Youth Council, t￿k charge of worshtp on Mothering Sunday and ihe fe&st of the
Transfiguration. Th¢ Youth Council also visited Houses of Parliam¢nt and had a Q & A session
with our loca] MP. The leenage￿ Tnake up rn0s1 of our serving team and our younger children aspiTC
to be like them. We have a newlTr" formed wownen's prnyeT group called Agy and a Men's Ixeaktast
group wh¢re discussions are held aiK)Ut living thc Chrisiian lifr.

Total receipts on unrestricted funds was £17J.082. Totsl payments on utllt5tricted funds amounted to
£153.895 of which £50.1XX> wa5 contrtbuted to thc London Dioc&w) Commijn Fund.
The net r¢sult for the year was an excess of r￿eipts over paym¢nts of £19,187 unrestricted funds.
The balance to CaTry forward at 31 tkcetDtr*r 2023 on Unrestrict￿ funds was £182.367.
The balance to tarry fotivard on reStrict￿J funds at 31 Decemirr 2023 is unchanged at £19,)4J.
Reserves poli
It is the PCC wlicy to maintain the recommended balance on unrcstricted fiJnd5 which equates lo at
least three months unrestricted payments. The cash balance on the unrestricted funds at the Y¢￿-end is
well in excess of this figure.
Volunteers
In total we have 20 volunteeTS who assist with the rnnnÈng of the paTish in a variety of ways. Finance
tearn, S{￿la1 and fvnd-rnising leam, safe-guarding team. mini51ry team a]1 have volunteers and all have
undcrgone DBS check5 awKI safe-guarding tiaining
Structureg govern*nce and maDagement
The PCC is a corporate l)ody established by the Church of Englan(L
The method of aprKTrintmenl of PCC memters is set out in the Church Representation Rules.
Membership of the PCC consists of the RectOT, churchwardens and membets clcctcd by those
member5 of ihe congreg￿11)n WIK) arc on the clectordl n)le of the church. Members of t
congregation ar¢ encouraged to regis*r on the Elccknral Roll and stand for election to the PCC.
PCC meTnlxrs are restx>nsible for making decisions on all Matte￿ of genernl conccrn and impottanc¢
to the parish including deciding on how the funds of thc PCC are to k spent. New memkts havc
some induction and are made aware of their r¢s[m)￿$1b]l1Iies.

The PCC met on 6 (Kcasions during thc year. 7he average l¢vel of artcndance at PCC rneetings
during thc year was 72ts/o.
Safegvarding
The PCC has complied with its dity under section 5 of the Safeguarding atid Clergy Discipline
Measure 2016 10 have regard to the House ol Bishops, guidante on safeguarding child￿n and
vulnerable adults. Our parish safe-gU￿dlng officer (PSO) is Tendy Lindsav and Carol Booth is our
Children s Champion. Both have undcrtaken additionai training during the year. We have an ¢xcellent
relationship with our DI£￿e￿1n Safe-guarding officer and she has attcttded a PCC Elleeting and a Safe-
guarding committe¢ meeting. Her advice has proved very helpfijl in som¢ sttuations and she also
kceps a close watch on our parish dashtrx)ariL
The PCC believes that li has complied with its dutv under section 5 of the Safeguarding and Clergy
