The Parochial Churcb Council of the Ecclesiastical Parish of St Peter and St PauL Saltwood Report of the Trustees for the year ended 31 December 2024 srkUCTURE AND GOVERNANCE The Council met on five occasions in 2024, generally with only one or two apologies for absence at each meeting. Four sub<ommittees report to the PCC - Standing. Premises, Fire and for the Lads Club Church Hall. Salt WLX)d and Lympne churches eacb have their own PCC. They share a single ministy team and the same person acts as treasurer for the two patishes. At Christmas 371 people attended the Ch"isliiJ<iS advent services at church and those in the local community were very popular, especially carols in the Coltyard at Lympne Castle where it was esliniated that over l(K)O people came. Al the aDllual net]llg in 2024 there were 137 pIshI0¢rS on the Electoral Roll. Duting the year the chancel catpet w&s replaced, floodlights for the ChUh renewed, also part of the perimeter churchyard wall was rebuilt And repairs to the lycb gate ¢arried out. A contactless donation machine is tLOW permanently available in church. OKTECTIVE AND AIMS Tbe PCC has the responsibility of co-operating with the Rector to promote the whole mission of the Church, pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical in the parish. Our objective has been to strengthen IiDks with the local conunurrity by offering events and activities that are attractive to families. The church coniinues to be committed to the relief Of need in the local area, providing f1¢11 and other material support to the Rainbow Centre" two members of the SaltWO(Kl cojwegation are tStee$ of the charity. CHURCH SERVICES Sunday services were held each week at both Saltwood (Sa to loam) and I,ympne at I lam. There is also a service at Pedlinge Chapel once per mollth which Èncluded a successful Dine lessons and carols at c15tIn&5. Comrnunion services continued on three Sundays each month with a family service on the fourth Sunday at Saltwood and se¢Ond Sunday at Lympne. Joint services with Lympne continued on fifth Sundays. The Parochial Church Council of the El cclesiastical Parish of St Peter and St PauL Saltwood Report of the J'rustees for the year ended 31 December 2024 LPne & Saltwood Toddlers meet on Wednesdays at Saltsvood and on Thursday at Lympne, during 2024 we had 86 farnilies attending with an average of13 famklies each week. providing valuable support to mums, dads. gra)dparents and toddlers. Messy Church meets each month from February to November, for a¢tivities and food while still using the elwrch for time of worshtp. CuIminating in a Christingle Service wÉth bonfire and BBQ in Dec¢mber. wbich got Over 100 children ar adults. In addition to an average att¢Thdallce ok'er 30. Tilere was our Usll team of between 7 and ID helpers. The are 28 children and young people who come to Sunday Club. meeting at the Lads, Club on 3rd and 5th Sundays of the montm and taking part in both Family Services in the Benefice on 2nd Sundays at Lyrnpne and 4th Sundays at Saltwood. Bubble Church - Is a Sunday church service especially for babies. toddlers and young families held in the Lads Club on the first Sunday of every month. We have been SUCLesslIY runnin% for a year llow. We were visited by Bubble Church HQ in June and we were told that we are the flagship Bubble Church for tbe South East ot-England! We have 50 fd. milies on our bl. Prayer Groups - We have several prayer groups that meet regularly as well as before our n)ain services; two weekly ones and one monthly one that meet in the afternoons. There is also a prayer and support group praying n]ainly for people health issues, and a supp)rt prayer facility available after the Sunday service at Saltwood. We have a pastoral up tbat meets regularly and looks out for the parishioners that need help and support. Continued support for Saltwood Cof E Primary School through the provision of the church building for gUlar worship, the delivery of assemblies in school and the involvement of two members of the Congegation on the governing body. . The llntb1y SALT ceniral meeting and m¥etings of th¢ hutn¢ groups h4v¥ ¢ontiuu¢d very succebsfully with around 30 attendees across three groups. We have a good team of Tower Bell ringers who in addition to the Sutlday services, rung for several weddings and memorial senrices ftlr which donations were received. The church fOrnd a Handbell Ringing team a while ago and they continue to perforn] at n]any events. The choir n)eets every week for r¢hearsals and leads tbe service most Sundays. For a special carol service in Decemb¢r w¢ assembled a cboir of all ages wbi¥kn wab very popular. The La(Ls' Club is the Church Hall and is located in Rectory Lane. It is nianaged by a sub committee of the PCC and is widely iL8ed by the local community and many church groups. The improvements and extension compl¢t¢d in ?021 have enbaed his usefvlness cott8iderably. The Garden Gang continued to meet each Wednesday to keep the churchyard in outstanding condition. Up to a dozen come and help, not all necessarily church attendees. There is a weekly aftemoon drop in session on Mondays for members of the community. typically around 20 people attend. the majority of Ihem not regular church attendees. This is a time to chat, eat Cake and play games often with pupils from Brockhill school joining in. The provision of refreshments at church events is often taken for grantd as ffis cleaning the Churc so we tske the opportunity in this am)ual report to thank all those who help week in week out tn these ways.
