The cou￿11 is committed to enabling as many people as possible to worship at our church and to become part of our parish community at St AThJrew's. The CouKil maintains an oveNTew of v￿rshiP throughout the parish makes suggestions on tKlW our seNices can involve the mary groups that live within our parish. Our servfces arKI worship put faith into practice through prayer and scripture, sacrament aThl music. When planniry our acttvities for the year, the I￿uMbent and the Cou￿11 have considered the Commlsslon's gUIda￿e on public benefit and, in particular, the specific guidance on charities for the advarKement of religion. Four carKlidates applied ar￿ two were InteNiewed. outcome was that the current curate, James Cook, was appointed as next irKumbent. He was installed by the BlsPK>p of Norwich at a speclal seryice at 5t Andrew's on the 23rd September, attended by repre5entatlves of the local communlty. Desplte the changes, mary of usual activitie5 of church Ilfe continued. During Lent we ran a well-atterded Lent Course on the Early Church, helping established members ard visitors from other churches to become more confident in thelr Christfan faith. After Chrlstmas, a cOu￿e aimed at those l(x)king into Christian faith was atteThJed by many, both long-starKling members of the church and others from the wider community. Fortnightly Connect Groups in members, homes continue to be a rich source of deepenlng faith and strengthening relatior6hips. Numbers atteThling regular and festival services have remalned broadly consistent with 2023. Figures are, l¥)wever, still down from before the pandemic, a pattern replicated across the Church of England. There were 9 baptisms (one of which was of an adult), and 5 weddiros. We also held 12 funerals in the church, aThl 5 burials of ashes either in the churchyard or in the separate Burial GrouNI, arKI a further 4 funeral sepiices taken at other l(Kal venues by our clergry. Two members of the CouKil sit on the Dea￿ ry Synod, and two {i￿l￿1ng the irKumbent) on the Dil￿eSan Synod. This provides CourKil with an important link between the parish ard the wider structures of the church. No major repair5 were requlred for the Church during year. The total amount spent, irKludlng otFEr mlnor work, amounted to £490 (2023 . £3,191). The total spent on repalrs to the Hall in year amounted to £1,092 (2023 . £39,153). To ald pastoral care, the Parfsh is divided into four areas, with coordinators resporslble for each area aThl a further coordlnator also caring for those livirq outside parish bouThlary. In April, members of the team participated In a mental health trainltY4 afternoon held In church for pastoral care teams across dealw. Through the year, we have run a full programme of regular aNI occasfonal ac￿vItieS for the church and the wlder community. Toddlers Groupi whlch meets on Tuesday mrnings, continued to fu￿tiOn thrOug￿Ut 2024. On average of 14 farnilles attended each week. On some occasions as many as 50 visitors (children aThl carer5) atterKled in a week. monthly Old Eatonians meetings and ￿ weekly Community Café, both serve l(xal people with community arKI care. Slmilarly, a new initiative was k)egun towards the eThJ of the year, a monthly Art Café to provide space and friendship for any WI￿ enjoy creativity - the new café began in December with a fully-booked wreath-maklnq workshop In preparation for Christmas. More ￿CaSIOnal events also brought people from across Eaton together, swh as the Mission Fairs in the Sprfng and Autumn, the Eco Day, and the summer Garden Party. We were able to continue in our support of the work of our mtssion partners with the Church Mission Society. This year we continued to support Dick Caroline Seed in Cape Town {V￿rking in theological teachirv4 and leade￿hIP training), providing £1,500 for their work. We al50 began supporting Mirna Paulo (working with women and young people particularly from indigenous communities in the Anglican Diocese of Nort￿rn Argentina), providing a fUrt￿r £1,5CK). An additional £2,069 was ralsed for Church Mission SLKlety at the SprltY4 and Autumn Fai￿. The Sunday school was available every other SuThlay, although few children attend. We continued the single-morning worksPK)ps and held 4 in the year with approximately 30 children each time, finishiry with a sttt)rt servTce in the church. For children who were interested, but who couldn't atterKI the workshops, we produced special activity packs on related themes - which were greatly appreciated by the chlldren and their families. The final Christingle workshop saw a record number of nearly 40 children in attendarKe, with parents aNI carers joining at ermj for a Christingle servTce in church.
