The Eccleslastlcal parlsh of St. Chrlstopher and St. Nlcholas. Blackpool
The Parlsh Mlsslon Statomont continues as.
The misslon of the Church of England In the Parlsh of St. Chrlstopher and St.
Nicholas Blackpool Is:
To worshlp God
To bear the Ilving Christ
To live and pmclaim the Gospel
TO se￿e the local community
To accompany people of all ages on their journey of Christian
faith and discipleshlp.
Achievoments and Perfonnance:
Durlng the year we hav8 maintained a regular pattem of worship and pastoral
care to ourselves and the wider community. In January, we hosted
ordinations: our deacon, Fr. lan Rushton was ordained Priest by the Bishop of
Blackburn. with another candidate, Fr. Tristan Mears.
Durlng this Year, we have been engaged in the LYCIG initiative, which
culminated In a Mission weekend on the last weekend in April. This was a
success, and moves are baing mad8 lo organise a mini varsion of it later in
2025. The Church also hosted the 'Walsingham tasterf. two weeks later, with
28 teenagers attending. This will be r&peated in 2025.
The Parish Magazine continues, with the steady subscriptions of 125.
Worshlp and Prayer:
The Church community of St Christopher is dedicated to the celebration of the Holy
Eucharist. Morning Prayer is said each day in Church. Particular attention is paid to
the spiritual development of the community as a whole and the strenglhening of
cjiscipleship for each individual. We believe that sacred space is an important
expression of our relationship with God and each other. The sacred space that the
building provides is treated with reverence and love. Every member of the
congregation Is encouraged to participate in the care of the building for the benefit of
worshipp8rs and the wider community. We realise that we have something very
special here, not only in the building, but in the depth of spirituality, pasloral care and
commitment lo rnission and outreach. We believe that the church both as the people
Df God and a building, is an icon of stability and presence in an ever-changing world.
Thls Is partiGularfy true of Blackpool, which attracts a translenl population.
Along whh our commltment to misslon and out￿8¢h, we see the celebratlon of
Occasional Offices as an important witness of God's love for his people. In 2024
there were 53 baptisms, no weddings in ¢hur¢h, unfortunately and 12 funerals either
in ohuroh or at the cgmeterylcrematoria. We also confiTh8d 6 candidat85 in Church.
and 13 in School.
There were 74 people listed on the Electoral roll of the parish as of 31￿ December
2024. The Electoral Roll is continualty updated and maintained. In 2025. the Electoral
Roll is due to be completely renewed.
