Highlights of 2024-5
During this year two members of the ministry team stepped down from active ministry. We would
like to thank Rosie Rushton and Ginny Fazackerley for all that they have contributed to St Peter's over
manyyear5. We have welcomed one new team member, Matthew Woodward, who is in training to
become a Lay Pastoral Minister and will lead Men's Ministry in the church.
Worship and Discipleship
Our regular worship and discipleship have been contlnued this year and have been added to. As well
as our Life lor Homel groups, which meet at different intervals- weekly, monthly or seasonally,
worship and discipleship includes these regular opportunities..
Sunday
8am Holy Communion- a c31m said service that underpins the dav
10am Holy Communion- usually choral, this is a longer service which combines a traditional liturgy
with a relaxed and friendly approach. Music includes old and new. In termtime children have the
opportunity to join Young Disciple5 forthe centre part of the seNice, to learn from the readings in an
interactive way. Occasionally Young Disciples. Young Voices lourjunior choir) or other young
people's groups help in leading parts of the service. Refreshments are Served in the hall after the
service. This service is livestreamed to enable our housebound members and anyone unable to get
to church in person to take part.
4pm Peterfs Praise, except on fourth Sundays when we have Wild Worship. These are both
intentionally intergenerational conternporary services including craft attivities, discussion and a
flexible approach to movement and refreshments. Wild Worship gets outside to f5nd God in the
created world. On fifth Sundays the 4pm teams offer something different such as a parish picnic.
6pm- evening services happen about once a month. and offer a mixed programme including choral
evenson& Songs of Praise. and reflective se￿1￿5 incorporating Celic or Taizé Styles.
6.30pm Youth Café, for young people in years 6-8 meets in the Church Hall for Eames, pizza and
learning about God together. At the same time Youth Life, for years g upwards meets at the Rectory
as a discipleship group. The two groups occasionally meet together and support each other for
special projects such as a Lent Lunch or leading services in church.
Tuesday and Thursday 9am MorninB Prayer on our public Facebook page, which again has a
particular importance in enabling members who Cdn't get out and about to remain strongly
connected to the church family in worship.

little ones and for their carers.
On the last Wednesday of the month (usually- but look out for the posters as this is sometimes
subject to chanEel our newest service is Songs of Praise at St John's Residential Care Home- see
Anna Chaplaincy below for more information.
Thursday

3 Thursdays 2pm Bible Book Group in the Hervey room. This popular new group tskes a different
book each month and looks at st as a whole, leaming as we go.
In 2024 we encouraged Life groups to study the passion story in Mark's gospel for Lent, and in
Advent we had a home-grown course, 'Singing the Songs of ScriptL¢re', with an accompanying
sermon series. The course was filmed and put up on our YouTube channel, which enabled all church
members to actess it even if they were unable to join a group.
Praying Together
The work of Prayer Partners - a total of around 40 people who pray regularly in threes, twos, or
individually for the sick, lonely, bereaved, those troubled in any wayi our Church. Diocese, locality
and far beyond, for our world, and for peace- continued under the oversight of Ginny Fazackerley,
who retired in early 2025. Those engaged in this form of prayer have continued faithfully, and we
would welcome other church members to join in this prayer ministry. We continued producing our
monthly prayer diary which is used by many in their daily prayer5. This was under the supervision of
Jackie Topp who also retired from her role in early 2025. We are reviewing how to take forward the
prayer life and ministry of St Peters in new ways, building upon existing strengths.
In January 2025 a prayer station was introduced In church which changes monthly. Plan5 are also in
train for a weekly addition to the worshiping and praying rhythm of the church, which will be an
opportunity to pray for global and other issues. This will begin during the Rectorfs Yhy Kingdom
Come, Week of Prayer at the end of May.

Pastoral Care and Anna Chaplaincy
The Pastoral Oversight team, now renamed to be the Safeguarding and Pastoral Oversight Team
15POTI, to reflect what it does, continues to meet to ensure that all those in particular need receive
support.
Sue Pinington co-ordinates the work of our Lay Pastors, who are a vital first line of support for all
church members. With SPOT, she seeks to ensure that all who are part of the church community are
connected to a Lay Pastor. She also co-ordinates the Home Communion team. Approximately 11
people currently benefit regularly from this ministry, with others being added occasionally when in
need.
Tea@2 has continued to meet monthly and is open to all senior members of the local community.
Refreshments after the 10am service5 on Sundays and Wednesdays offer a time of fellowship and
care for each other.
Our support for St John'5 Home has continued and indeed expanded, with the introduction of
monthly Songs of Praise in early 2025. We are able to provide regular worship and pastoral 5UPPOrt
for residents and others in the elderly community. The Anna Chaplaincy team has grown with the
addition of Pamela Woodward, licensed as an Anna Friend in December 2024. Canon Beverley and
Sue Pinington hope to expand opportunities to support older member5 of the community over the
next 24 months.
Children's Work
Our work with children and young people continues to develop. Tiny Tots sees new families coming
and going as parental leave permits, and is a vital place of support for many. Our work with primary
age children, Young Disciples, Continues at 10am and complements the work with children that
happens at our 4pm services. Youth Café (for Years 6 to 81 meet5 on Sunday evenings twice a month
in term time. Youth Life Ifor years 9 and abovel began in Spring 2024 and deliberately runs in parallel
to Youth Cafe, allowinE the two groups occasionally to come together.
Looking ahead to 2025, a family parade service format is being trialled on three Sundays lin addition
to the formal parade at Remembrancel-
Schools Work
Weston Favell Primary School is our church school. and there are two ley ways in which we as a
church are involved in supporting it.
First. through governance-the formal side of support. Members of St Peterfs se￿e as some of the
foundation governors. and Peter Halstead is chair of governors. Canon Beverley Se￿e5 as a Member
of the Academy Trust Irepresenting the Diocesan Schools Trust).
Second, in a chaplaincy role. our schools team provides a weekly collective worship for the whole
school, and since autumn 2024 has also, joined by members of the Tiny Tots team, provided a
weekly storytime for the pre-school children. The team also hosts regular services in church for
festivals, planning and leading the Christmas service and the Year 6 leaverfs service.

We offer other lessons and events, and in 2024 this included training on liturgical colours for
Worship Amb3ssadors and a year 3 afternoon preparing for a Cathedral visit which Canon Beverley
took part in. Canon Beveiley's material for this lesson has been taken up by the Cathedral Education
team to adapt for use by other schools, and they publicly congratulated the school at a recent
Headteachers Conference.
Clare Pearce coordinates this team include the times when it expands and we are joined by many
wonderful volunteers for school visits, and our two annual prayer spaces events- Transition Prayer
Spaces in the summer, which is for year 6, and the now annual Shakespeare prayer spaces. In 2024
our work on The Merchant of Venice for the whole school included adapted programmes for
younger children, and was covered by the Growing Faith Foundation Podcast. This Foundation is part
of the Church of England's national school team, and the podcast has led to interest in the resources
we have created from around the country. We will be exploring how to share what we have done via
the Prayer Spaces in Schools website. Or>e result of our work in 2024 was a request from NPAT- the
academy trust that ovr school is affiliated to- to offer the 2025 programme to other schools within
the wider trust. So in January 2025 our work on Henry V was offered to all 420 children at Weston
Favell Primary School, again with an adapted programme for younger children, and across a second
week the stations were placed in church and nine schools took part. We 3150 offered the opportunity
to use the stations to home schooled children. Across the week 23 volunteers, including some from
other churches, worked with the nearly 800 children that visited.
Eco and Fabric team
St Peters wa5 awarded the A Rocha silver Eco Church Award in the Autumn of 2023.
We are committed to the importance of improving the church's environmental culture. Our ministry
team have fully taken on board the need to teach and pray about caring for God'5 creation. We have
an annual Climate Sunday, but environmentsl issues are a regular feature of our intercessions and
worship. We have also sUPPOrted environmental charities with our fund-raising activities. We are
members of the Ecumenital Eco group in Northampton, and were glad to host a lively ecumenical
celebration in November with speaker Ruth Valerio.
The new Church hall boiler has reduced our gas usage. The church heating system is controlled
remotely to ensure as much efficiency as possible. Many lights have been changed to LEDS and will
continue to be changed as an ongoing commitment to continue to make improvements wherever
they can. Within the church grounds there are wildflower areas. hedgehog and bird boxes and wild
corners with bug hotels and log piles. Bike racks have been installed and the reduction of car use is
encouraged within the church.
Charitable Enterprise
Details of charitable giving is set out in note 8d to the accounts. We are pleased to report that over
£10,500 was raised.
Church member5 continued to generously support the work of Weston Favell Foodbank by
volunteering and providing donations of food and supplies. We acknowledge that there has been a
large rise in demand in the number of people using the foodbank. As such, we encourage people to
continue to donate regularly to the foodbank. supporting local people who are in great need.

The same is true of the work of Baby Basics, and our donations in our 2024 Christmas appeal filled a
vanl 22 crlbs and countless boxes of clothe5, nappies 2nd other baby 5upplie5 were sent to the local
brarbch. Sadly, these generous donations will have been used all too quitkly, as there is so much
need, 50 we encourage continued regular gifts in the Baby Basics collettion box in the church porch.
We have added one more collection box in the porch in partnership with our church school, who
have adopted Shoe Aid as a charity, and collect unwanted shoes which Show Aid recycles, repairs
and redistributes to people in need. This charity was highlighted as part of our Henry V Shakespeare
project, and we continue to encourage members not to throw old shoes away but to bring them arbd
put them in our Shoe Aid box. They can be in any condition- Shoe Aid will take parts from badly
damaged shoes to repurpose.
Mothers, Unlon
Mothers, Union is a growing group at St Peterfs. All our members Imale and female) are regular
communicants and are committed to the Christian ethos of the Mothers, Union. The faith of
members is demonstrated through action. Monthly meetings are held with a programme of
Speakers, services and social events. A priority for all 15 to give prayerful and practical support to MU
project5 and campaigns. Within this parish. members 5UPPOrt our Baptism ministry and outreach by
sending anniversary cards to 311 those Christened at St Peter's, as well 35 supporting charitable
activities such as Baby Basics and Foodbank.

and in 2024 were commended a as model of good practice. Congratulations go to John Fazackerley
for setting such a high standard. A newsletter was irbtroduced in the Autumn of 2024 which enabled
us to Share information with church member5 while reducing our impact on the environment, as
Sunday handout lloticesheets are no longer needed.

Fabrfc
The last Quinquennial Inspertion of the Church indicate that 3 significant amount of repairs was
required wlth an estirnated cost of over E30,000. The PCC, using the services of a fundraiser. rase
sufficient grants to supplement the existing Fabric Fund and the ongoing fundraising by the Friends
of St Peters, and the repair work started late in 2024 and continued into the early part of 2025.
Safeguarding
The PCC ha5 complied with the duty under Section 5 of the safeguarding and Clergy Discipline
Measure 2016 Iduty to have regard to House of Bi5hop5' guidance on safeguarding children and
vulnerable adults).
Financial review
The financial review is contained within the Treasurer's Report on page 8.
Reserves policy
The PCC currently considers that the Church should hold reseryes to cover approximately two
months of expenditure plu5 3 further one months of salary costs. together with an amount to cover
future fabric costs and redundancy entitlement. In total this amounts to approximately £50,000. At
31 December 2024, free reserves totalled approximately £104,000.
Thanks
As ever, all of the good things described in this report, and indeed the many things which we have
not had spate to include, are a result of the generosity of members financially, and in giving of their
time and talents in many different ways. If we added up the hours spent volunteering in church, in
school, and elsewhere, the number would no doubt be astonishing. We together, the body of Christ,
work as his body to further the mission of the church; to tell people the good news, teach God's
story, tend to God's people, to transform society justly and to treasure 311 of God's creation. For all
that each person does, we give thanks. In the words of St Paul.. l always thank my God for you and
for the gracious gifts he has given you.11 Cor 1.41.

Year ended 31 December 2024
I report on the accounts for the year ended 31st December 2023.
Respertive responsibilities of the PCC and the examiner
As trustees of the charity. the members of the PCC are responsible forthe preparation of the
accounts. They consider that an zudit Is not required for this year under section 144121 of the
Charities Act 2011 Ithe 2011 Artl and that an Independent examination is needed.
Basis of this report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Dirertions given by the Charity
Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a
comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any
unusual items or disclosure5 in the accounts and seeking explanations from the management
committee concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence
that would be required in a full audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the
accounts.
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attentlon:
which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respert the requirements:
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 137 of the Act; and
b. to prepare financial statement5. which accord with the accounting records and
comply with the requirements of the Act and the Regulations
have not been met: or
to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper
understanding of the accounts to be reached.
